B2B change - Port Canaveral

Just did a B2B on the Magic in PC. There was a change in the procedure since our last B2B. Now, DCL physically takes your key cards from your first cruise before allowing you to leave the ship to clear customs for the second cruise. Other cruisers with us were not pleased with the change and wanted their key cards back to add to their souvenir collection. We were allowed to go to guest services to request the key cards back, but they really didn’t want to give them back.

We were told it was a security issue due to an incident that happened in the last year. Wouldn’t elaborate. Wonder what someone did to change the whole DCL B2B procedure?

They did that on the Dream in July and despite them claiming they’d be given back the last day they weren’t.

It’s lucky my spouse lost all our cards and unfortunately they just weren’t turned in so we had to get a whole new set the day before we disembarked cruise 1 and then magically discovered them later because I didn’t trust them to return them.

Like I get they don’t want old cards in circulation but geez..

They wouldn’t say. And one guest with us was pushing really hard for an answer. In the terminal and at guest services. All they would say was that the change was necessitated by a security issue. They all had the same answer. Obviously someone got a hold of a keycard and did something terrible for the B2B procedures to be changed.

This happened to us on the Wish in February, too. When we debarked, they told us that we could go to guest services after reboarding to get our old cards. When we did that, guest services told us that they usually give them back in the final night, but that they could get them for us if we really needed them now. We waited and on the last day, went to guest services again. They gave us the cards without any fuss.
