According to Dictionary.com a Band is:

a. a group of instrumentalists playing music of a specialized type: rock band; calypso band; mariachi band.
b. a musical group, usually employing brass, percussion, and often woodwind instruments, that plays esp. for marching or open-air performances.

So a Drum Corps IS a band, no?

A marching band has woodwinds, a drum and bugle corps does not. No clarinets, saxaphones or flutes (sorry Wally)
We are not geeks, and we understand if you have no interest in the activity.
I would, however, encourage you to at least give it a try. Nothing like 60 brass players belting out at top volume in your face!
Drink of choice for Bunker Hill Day is, indeed, beer straight out of the can or bottle. Sam Adams is preferred. Not sure why Dorchester is called "Dot". Never figured out the derivation of Queens in Manhattan, either
