B&MB's question of the week 9/22

I am working on my journalling. I have been inspired by Cathy Zielske. I am reading her book "Clean and Simple Scrapbooking, The Sequel." I recommend it to anyone who would like to increase the amount of journalling on their pages.

I usually use the computer for my journalling. Finding the perfect font for the text is part of the fun for me.

For me, it depends on the layout. I will put tons on vacation layouts because I know the kinds of things that interest me (costs, where I ate and what, etc.) but not so much on just everyday things (like pet photos).

I went through a phase where I didn't like my handwriting and did mostly computer journaling but now I want the speed of handwriting and I like to experiment with cursive & printing / pen color / pen style. About the only thing I computer print now is the really long journaling for the vacation layouts.

I'l have to look for that one. Where can I find it?
I'm addicted to fonts! I have about 300 on one computer and about 200 on this computer. I'm saving my pennies for a Wishblade so I don't have to cut my fonts out by hand any more.

I journal like crazy! I love it! It's one of my favorite parts of scrapbooking. I simply love to write and tell a story. Sometimes I print, sometimes I write in cursive, and occasionally I use computer journaling. I like how the computer print looks and I plan to use it in our formal wedding album, but 9 times out of 10 I handwrite my journaling.

Regarding your own handwriting - my mom didn't like her handwriting, but I thought it was lovely. I am now so desperate for any piece of my mom that I have searched and searched and I've found anything she wrote on. I even kept a note she made on a scrap of paper with a name and phone number, just because she wrote it, and credit card receipts because her signature is on it. She didn't get to scrapbook much, but I treasure the pages she did - especially those where she journaled in her own handwriting. It's a gift to your loved ones, it really is :)

Yep, I journal, at least enough so the page has a "time and place".

Mine can be in boxes:

or on the page itself:

or even use an existing sign:

Sometimes I use 8 x 10 pages and add a 2 x 10 sidebar with the journaling on it.

I journal on some things but generally it is more just the time and place or other basic information. If I want to tell a whole story I do it on the computer and find a fun font. If I want to just name the place and date it depends sometime I do it freehand and other times on the computer.

I love my craftrobo but I am looking forward to getting a little machine that lets me make the letters into stickers as using glue and such is a pain with the little letters I get at some points. I know that is a much less expensive machine but since I bought the craftrobo first it is what I am saving for.

I love the xyron sticker maker. I have the 150 which is the X and the 250 which is a little larger. It is soooo much easier than trying to glue them on!
