I'm planning on making ADRs for the following restaurants:
MK - Crystal Palace, Be Our Guest, CRT
HS- Hollywood & Vine
Epcot - Via Napoli
Resort - Ohana and Chef Mickey's

now I need to decide to either do breakfast, lunch or dinner at those places.

Which do you recommend?

Thanks!

A breakfast ADR cuts too much into park touring time and we never do that. We eat a light quick breakfast in the room while we get ready. We generally do a QS lunch on the go in the park and a TS sit down dinner to relax in the evening.
That is how I would book my ADR's.
That said, I would never book H & V for any reason whatsoever.

Crystal Palace B or L. I think the restaurant looks much prettier in the day time.
Be Our Guest L, absolutely
CRT are you on the dining plan? Then D to get full value. If not, then B.
Hollywood & Vine are your kids into the Disney Jr characters? If so, definitely B or L since dinner doesn't have characters
Via Napoli D
Ohana I like both B & D very much
Chef Mickey's B

I only do CS for lunch, no TS. We are usually too busy/too hot (even in cooler months) to eat much at lunch time.

We tend to stay away from breakfasts so that we can maximize that golden hour in the parks. I'm not even a fan of the PPO breakfast. If I am going to spend that much for a meal, I don't want to check my watch and hurry it along. We do end with a big breakfast on the last day before departure and maybe one on our "rest" day in the middle of our vacation.

I recommend an early lunch over breakfast and dinner at MK and HS. Get there early, do lots of attractions and then reward yourself with a nice leisurely lunch. :) FWIW, we had one of our best meals at H&V this past August. :thumbsup2

Are you family I haven't yet met? This is exactly how we do it, too.

And I totally agree with you on H&V. Unless you've got small kids who are really into those characters and you were willing to take one for the team, I'd avoid it.

We enjoy Crystal Palace lunch we did breakfast this time and would choose lunch over breakfast. BOG we did lunch and really enjoyed it. Ohana love both meals there. Chef Mickey's we have only done dinner and enjoyed it

MK - Crystal Palace LUNCH
Be Our Guest DINNER
CRT BREAKFAST
HS- Hollywood & Vine SKIP ALL TOGETHER. HORRIBLE FOOD AND SERVICE IMO

Epcot - Via Napoli NEVER BEEN.

Resort - Ohana DINNER
Chef Mickey's BREAKFAST

Yes, small kids who LOVE Disney Jr. characters so doing this for the kids.

What are you hoping to get from 'Ohana? The experience varies greatly from breakfast to dinner. Breakfast is family style dining (they bring a tray of food to your table, and you can have refills) with characters. Dinner has family style appetizers/sides and then they bring around skewers of meat (over and over). There are no characters at dinner. We like both and could do both every trip, frankly, but we decide based on whether we want to dine with Lilo and Stitch (and since Stitch became DD's favorite character, if has been mostly breakfast).

Dinner at H & V has Minnie's Seasonal Dinner party (right now it's Halloween themed). Characters are dressed in different outfits for each theme (Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy).

MK - Crystal Palace (B/D), Be Our Guest (L), CRT (D)
HS- Hollywood & Vine (D)
Epcot - Via Napoli
Resort - Ohana (B & D) and Chef Mickey's (B or brunch)

yes breakfast it is then because of Lilo and Stitch.

If you can get a PPO breakfast at CO, we thought it was fantastic. Much better than Cape May. We did dinner at CRT - it was awesome. One of our best meals of the trip. I wouldn't pay those prices for breakfast food though. We also did BOG for dinner and loved it. I had the steak and it was fantastic.

MK - Crystal Palace - Breakfast, Be Our Guest- Dinner CRT- If on DP, dinner, if not breakfast due to cost.
HS- Hollywood & Vine- Breakfast
Epcot - Via Napoli- Lunch
Resort - Ohana- Breakfast since you want the characters but dinner is good here too and Chef Mickey's- Breakfast

Not sure if you are on DP, but breakfast tends to be cheaper if you are paying out of pocket for each meal. Also, this is just my opinion, the Disney buffets generally do breakfast much better than any other meal. Sometimes dinner at Chef Mickey's and Hollywood and Vine is hit or miss. If you kids want to do Jedi Training, make a PPO reservation at H&V. They can register for Jedi Training Academy prior to eating.

MK -
Crystal Palace - Doesn't matter-- We have done lunch and dinner. They are pretty much the same-- it is pretty during the day with the light shining in- we prefer lunch. We do not do breakfast--we do not like to lose park time and DD is not a morning person so rope drop is hard enough- we tried the pre-park opening breakfast once and it did not go well (even just a 1 hour time change is enough to make it not good for her).

Be Our Guest - Dinner. I've heard breakfast the food isn't worth the price. We have done lunch and it is fine, but it is basically a CS meal- you go through a line, pick your seats etc. Dinner it is a sit down meal, much less hectic because people are not wandering around looking for tables etc, and most importantly, the Beast is there for photos and meet and greet. We love BOG and were very sad last week when Hurricane Matthew made us lose our Friday ADR.

CRT- Doesn't matter. See the above in regard to Crystal Palace, with the exception that the light doesn't make that big a difference- it is just as pretty whether you go day or night. We have been both.

HS-
Hollywood & Vine --- Must you really do this one? The meal would depend on which characters. Disney Jr. is during the day. At night it is Minnie's seasonal dine- which means instead of the Disney Jr- you get Minnie, Mickey Goofy, Donald and Daisy in seasonal clothes. We ate there last week. The characters were absolutely adorable and our server was very nice, BUT it was one of the 2 worst meals we have ever had at Disney. We had to wait over 1/2 an hour for a table; the restaurant was filthy, the dessert was really good, but the rest of the food was near inedible- it was disgusting. We had to wait over an hour after we finished eating for all the characters to make it to us. Maybe we just hit a bad night- but while if the character costumes were really cute we might try it again- outside of that we would not eat there again.

Epcot -
Via Napoli - Never eaten there

Resort -

Ohana - Never eaten there

Chef Mickey's - this was our other worst meal. We went for dinner-- it was filthy and the food was in large part not good (although not as bad as H&V last week). That was a few years back though. I would say it depends on the rest of your schedule for the day. If you can do it without taking away from park time- then breakfast. If it is going to take away from park time- then I would do dinner.

In general, we like to do TS for lunch. We usually do a quick breakfast in the room (DH goes to CS and gets it and brings it up- or if we are staying CL which we have done a couple of times- breakfast here is where we feel that we make up the increased price). We don't go back to the resort for breaks, so a TS lunch gives us a nice rest and break and gets everyone geared up for the afternoon in the park. When DD was younger, dinner could be a little hard, because she would be getting tired at night and would be antsy at dinner. If we were out in the park and did CS for dinner, her adrenaline would keep her going and she would be fine- but if we sat her down at TS, she would crash or become very very fidgety.

We love breakfast at the Crystal Palace, the food and surroundings are top notch. We always used to go for 8am when the park opened at 9am, another bonus. We don't do buffets are lunch or dinner so I can't comment on any buffet restaurants.

We've had lunch and dinner at BOG, we prefer dinner as we like to meet the beast afterwards but I would prefer to try something off the lunch menu again (been twice before) as they have some tasty sandwiches.

Via Napoli, our most favourite place in Epcot to eat, we have an ADR every year and order a metro pizza between 3 of us, it almost fills the table and we are in heaven for the next 15 minutes until there are only tiny bits of burnt crust left on the plate. Only 9 weeks until our next one :yay:
