DS has a Nov b-day and so we are going to WDW to celebrate. DS birthday is a few days after our trip. Looking for opinions on celebrating his birthday before the actual day. (His b-day is 11/21 and we will be there 11/12-18.) We would like to get him a b-day button at MK.

His b-day is so close to Thanksgiving, we couldn't be there on the exact day, so we thought we would pick a day to celebrate his birthday (kind of like having your party on a Saturday even though the actual day isn't until Tues).

What are your thoughts?

I say do it! We arrived the night of my DD4th birthday and on the next day the lady at the ticket booth gave us a pin because it was so close to her real birthday. She had everyone wishing her a happy birthday. She also had on a shirt that has her name embroidered on it so everyone was saying, "Happy birthday Abby." Or sometimes they just called her princess, which she LOVED! Certainly get him a pin!

I don't think there is anything wrong with celebrating a birthday while there even if the birthday isn't during your trip. We will be doing it!

Guest Services will tell you it's fine to get the Button for a birthday celebrated the month you are visiting. Besides, Disney celebrated its own birthday for 18 months, right? ;)

disney cast members say every day in the month of your birthday is considered your birthday. all four theme parks give out birthday pins, mgm and mk are the same, ak has the tree on it and epcot has happy birthday written in every language of the worlds in the world showcase. every place we ate at did something special for my son the entire 10 days we were there for his 12th b-day. just tell your server at every place you eat, the 1900 park fare was nice he got a crown and a small cake and it is all free. they say chef mickey and ohana's for dinner is also a nice place to celebrate. have fun! :cool1:

I asked this of the Cm that booked my ADR's. DS will be celebrating his birthday while we are in WDW. I asked about whether or not we would be able to celebrate DD September birthday in October when we go next year, as we would likely never visit in Sept, due to weather and ability to get off work etc. When it came time to booking Akerhaus she took Kaitlyn's name down and has our resevation stating it is her birthday. I was surprized that she did this. No flames please! Kat

i've never been during my birthday (it's in february, we always go in the summer), but i'm going in the middle of jan (less than a month from my birthday!) and i'm thinking of asking for a birthday button. i also mentioned it to my boyfriend that i wish i could celebrate my birthday down there, since i've never been able to. i'm hoping he'll do something nice when we get there. :teeth:

We have gotten the buttons close to our birthday when we were there celebrating it and haven't had a problem. Since you don't get anything extra except well wishes, I would say go for it.
