I need to add minutes to my DS's phone, before tomorrow morning. If I order the deal in the OP, will I be able to add minutes tonight. We've only put minutes on his phone once & I really don't know anything about Tracfone. TIA

No, if you order the OP's deal, they will send you a phone package which will take about 3 days to get to you. They won't be emailing you the codes from the Minutes Cards. They will be enclosed in the package.

As jenr812 posted, "Please be advised that unless both the existing customer and his/her referred friend have activated their TRACFONE handsets, a PIN will not be issued to either person," you need your DS's current phone running to later refer yourself once the package deal shows up.

The easiest way to get a card/code to add on immediately is to go to the Tracfone Site and buy the $19.99 card to add on now. Online, they will give you a series of codes to imput into your Tracfone right away, giving you 60 minutes & 2 months service.

The reason you want to do this, is if you keep DS's phone active, HE will be getting the 120 referral minutes in the phone package. (Once his phone is deactivated, you'd have to reactivate anyway or get a referral from someone else and lose those 120 Referral minutes to them.) So moneywise, you can absorb the cost of the $19.99 since you will still be 120 minutes ahead referral-wise. In 2 months have him send a referral to a secondary email account & then activate the phone from the new package.

So if someone is referring themself to get the minutes and then donating the phone, you need to activate the free phone before donating it in order to get the referral minutes. Hope that makes sense.

Yes, but they give you 20 minutes FREE for activating your new phone online. So don't add on either of the Minutes Cards (from the OP's package deal) to the new phone.

Once you get the minutes for giving & getting as referral, you can simply donate the phone, letting the service expire & giving up the minutes. Or call CS and tell them you do not want that phone after all & have the 20 minutes + the 120 referral minutes which are dedicated to the new phone transferred over to your old phone.

Or you can "upgrade" and transfer all your minutes from your old phone (and possibly phone number) to the new phone and donate the old phone. Transferring current phone number only works with the same BRAND of Tracfone: Nokia ---> Nokia or Motorola ---> Motorola

No discounts are available in our area. I think for the $120/yr we'll put him on our cell phones. We don't use all our minutes anyway...

Keep checking the Tracfone: Buy a Phone page for deals in your area. You're in a high tourist, vacation area. Many people may have ordered an extra phone to have at the Cape.

Also, you can get a much cheaper Tracfone deal than the one year $120 deal that Trixiezzz listed as you need LESS minutes for your father. Usually there are $19.99 phone packages that will be good for 6 months service. So you can buy 2 packages, have someone refer you to activate the first phone, save the second package for when your first 6 months run out, refer yourself for the second package, scoop up a lot of minutes that way, and have another 6 months of service WITH a lot of accumulated minutes all for $40 + Shipping.
