Just found out that when I go to DL for the first time (in six days) I wont be able to ride Splash Mountain, or go on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, and worst of all I won't be able to see FANTASMIC, those will all be closed:sad1:

Mr/ Toad's Wild ride closes for about three days, then is open for a couple of weeks, then closes again for about three days for Rehab, so depending on the exact dates it's possible to miss it. Splash Mountain and Fantamic are down due to the work going on at Tom Sawyers Island (which is also closed) to add a Pirate's Lair to it. They should both be opening about the time of the Pirate's Premiere. Also please note that the Disneyland Rail Road is closed until June and the Monorail is running one-way only to and from Downtown Disney because of the work on Finding Nemo, which opens in June.

That may seem like a lot of closures, but really, it's only 3 1/2 attractions and one show out of 50+ at Disneyland. And that doesn't count all of the attractions at Disney's California Adventure.

Also note that the Monorail closes down approximately 1/2hour prior to the fireworks and only reopens if the park is open until at least 11:00 PM and will reopen shortly after the fire works are over.

As with most attractions at Disneyland it has to be closed yearly for rehab, they choose to do it this way it is done during the week, instead of on the busier weekends.

Right, but i was referring to the three days off, then on again, then off... etc. rather than long periods like other rides.

Bummer. That is one of the not always recognized risks to visiting DLR during offseason. See "HydroGuy's High Season/Off Season Tradeoff Rule" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1199852

Toad will not be down while you are there, if you are going in 6 days.

thats so good! becasue I'm going with Stephababe50 and I've always wanted to ride it because my mom used to talk about riding it when she was a kid and how it used to be her favorite ride. so that makes me happy :goodvibes

I was bummed because I believe there won't be any evening shows while we are there - hopefully I am reading the calendar incorrectly! Electrical Parade is my all time favorite followed by Believe!

Oh well - I am still happy to be going!!!

lol that is so cute When I was going to Disney I had taken a picture on the plane to. When we left Califonia to Seattle we got the Disney plane what a blast

During the off season, you need to be there on weekends to see the nighttime entertainment. During the week the parks close too early to have fireworks, F! or the Elec. parade.

Ok, well, first off there's a new Fireworks show called Remember that replaced Believe and it's successors (there have been three or four since then). The new show is nothing short of spectacular, some call it a "mini fantasmic"

Also the Electrical Parade runs only during peak times now (at least for the past couple of years)

Basically April 1st-14th and Weekends in April, Mid June-Labor Day, then weekends in Dec. and nightly from about Dec. 24-First Sun. in Jan. and weekends in Jan.

Fantamic! runs year around (except it is being rehabed while Tom Sawyers Island get a Pirates Lair added to it) and during the same time that the Electrical Parade runs nightly Fantasmic! runs nightly, the rest of the time is is usually Fir., Sat & Sun only

The fireworks runs nightly during peak periods above and weekends only the remainder of the year.

Hopefully that clears a bit up.

OP, I know exactly how you feel! Our first trip was planned for April 2006, but had to be rescheduled for September 2006. That meant that several rides were closed (most of which we didn't care about, because we were traveling with two small children.) But I was crushed when I found out the Aladdin Musical was closed! I've heard it's fantastic, and my boys love the movie, so we were all looking forward to seeing it. It also meant we couldn't see the EP, which I have wanted to see since I was a kid (trust me, a VERY long time...)

Still, our September trip was amazing! We had so much fun, saw so many wonderful things, went on thrilling rides, met many terrific characters, and had some once-in-a-lifetime experiences. (My DS6 lost his first tooth in Disneyland, and Tinkerbell was his tooth fairy!!!)

We can't wait to go back again next September. Since much of the ride refurb schedule is the same, we'll miss the Haunted Mansion and a few others again (maybe Aladdin again? :guilty: ), but we'll be able to ride the monorail for the first time, WOOHOO!!! I'm also trying to plan a 3rd trip in the spring of 2008, and will hopefully catch some of the things we haven't done yet. Like EP...!

Sorry about the Believe mis-statement - we were there last May most recently, what show would we have seen? It has bits and peices of the Wishes in it? We will be there May 19th - May 22nd. My BIL worked on POC so he is going to the premier, however we will not be. So we will not be going into the park Saturday, only -Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.

The current DL fireworks show is called Remember Dreams Come True and debuted on May 5, 2005. It has elements of MK's Wishes musical score, but the show itself has nothing in common with Wishes other than there are fireworks and a Tinkerbell flight.
