Avoiding Construction For May 2018 Trip

Where would be the best place to stay for a family of 5 and avoid any construction while not breaking the bank?

Hard to say, because there is no doubt construction for that period not yet announced.

Port Orleans Riverside? Not definite but I'd like to think they'd leave one moderate without construction.

Construction for May 2018 hasn't been announced yet, so there's no way to know at this point.

CBR and CSR will be under construction all the way through 2018. So those you'll definitely want to avoid. I think work on Pop Century will be going on till then as well.

I say the area where the gondola system is being set up: Caribbean Beach, Pop Century, and Art of Animation, are the big ones you'll wanna avoid.

That would leave the All Stars resorts in the Value cat and the Port Orleans resorts in the Moderate.

PO is actually overdue for refurb. Hard to say if they start one with CSR and CBR in construction mode.

If the next PO refurbishment is like the one POFQ it shouldn't have much of an impact. We were there and one of the buildings was out of commission . It didn't have any effect on our trip.

I would think probably AKL or SSR renting points? They should be finishing up renovations on Kidani Village or have already finished. SSR doesn't seem like a place where much construction is or would be taking place and you can get a lot of room for a little points and you have a boat, bus and walking path to DS. If you request Grandstands or Paddock sections you should be good with bus transportation even at peak times.
