Has anyone tried Airborne? I saw this on Oprah and she swears by it.

I had learned about Zycam from this board last year, and we have been taking it with us on trips this year to use at the first sign of a cold (for some reason we seem to pick up colds while traveling quite often).

Has anyone used Airborne? What do you think? Can you compare it ot Zycam?

I just picked up some for our upcoming cruise. It only have 10 tablets in it, so I wonder if I should buy a second bottle.

I REALLY don't want to get sick for Christmas while we are sailing on the Wonder!

Thanks!

I work at a private high school and the kids are often sick and therefeore, I hear about what works and what doesn't. While I haven't personally used AIRBORNE, I did speak with someone here at work that also swears by it. I think it's something that needs to be taken at the very first symptoms of a cold... much like "Cold-eeze" throat lozenges. I am planning on packing a bottle for our cruise too! Better safe than sorry!

I just went on a trip to England (12 hour flight) - I used this because I always
heard great things about it -

I didn't get sick ( I usually do after that long flight) Worked great for me!

My neice was starting to get sick while I was there - I let her use it and she
was better within a day !

Yes Yes Yes I use Airborne !! It really does work. I just got off the wonder for my wedding cruise. I posted my pictures on the main board if you would like to look at them. They also say use Airborne in large crowds. We all took it before flying. My DS came down with a cold just before the cruise. It cut the cold in half. By cruise time it was GONE. Just before flying home we all took Airborne again and we are feeling fine. In Children under 12 cut tablet in 1/2. Tina

Where can I find this miracle stuff-- as I sit here sniffling and sneezing...

In order for it to work good you really should start to take it at the very first sign of a cold. Try a pharmacy. I get mine at CVS. They always run out. When they get it in I stock up. Any pharmacy in your area should carry it. Good luck hope you feel better. :wizard: Tina

I just did a quick internet search and found this stuff in stock at both CVS.com and Drugstore.com $6.99 for bottle of 10.

I just bought some this morning at Walmart. It was with the cold/flu products. I think I may pick up another package of it before we leave for our trip. I really don't want to come home from our cruise sick for Christmas (our cruise is Dec. 19th - Dec. 23). On my last cruise, I picked up a cold and was sick for 2 weeks after we got home. I hope this stuff helps me to avoid that happening again!

Thanks everyone!

Dh is a frequent traveller with his current job, and he totally swears by Airborne! He found out about it through on of his coworkers and hasn't been without it since. We just bought some extra for the family trip coming up :)

Walmart has the best price for it, I think DH said it was around $2.99 or something like that :)

I have used Airborne also when I thought I was getting a cold -- the cold never happened!

But the instructions say you need to take one dose every three hours so that is a LOT of tablets.

I understand you should take it at the first sign of a cold, but how long should you keep taking it?

I paid $5.69 for a bottle with 10 tablets in it at Walmart this morning. If it keeps us from getting a cold, it will be worth it.

DH was just home for lunch. I asked him if he was feeling sick. He wasn't. Darn! I wanted to try it out! I told him I would check with him later. :earboy2:

I love Airborne!!! That stuff is great. I also use Emergen C. Its a fizzing powder you put in water. It comes in A variety of flavors. I like Orange the best. It makes the water flavored and carbonated, goes down easy, and works great. I've already started taking it twice daily to boost my immune system! Also, I take the Purell or Bath and Body Works waterless hand cleaners with me into the parks, there great!!!! :Pinkbounc

Do you take it a as a precaution before you fly?
All the kids in my preschool class are ill-boogers everywhere, I bought zicam today to start using but if airborne works too I will run out and get some of that.

Yes, you do take it as a precaution and at the first sign of a cold -

I did not take my every three hours - I would take it before I got on the flight, then once I got off the flight( long flight 12 hrs) -

Airborne is the best! My family has been on it for about four months. You take it at the first sign of a cold. My boys tell me if their nose starts running or throat starts hurting and I give it to them twice a day for two days. No one in our family of five has had even a cold since we started using Airborne!!

my throat was feeling scratchy so I did the first dose (did a zicam too) I will use it for the next two mornings before school and we all will drink it before the plane, tastes yucky but heck if it works...

I just bought some of this on drugstore.com too prior to finding this thread. I also wondered when it says that you are going into a crowded situation (like a cruise would be) to take it every 3 hours. So do all of you plan to take like 5 pills a day while cruising? Or do you think one a day would be sufficient? Or would you not take it all unless you actually felt a cold coming on?

Sometimes I have sneezing fits, etc would this count as a cold coming on? It sounds like an interesting product but I never want to take more of something than is necessary (then it seems like wasting money on top of putting too much in your system).

So once the cold is coming on, then how many days after wards do you take it? Stop, see if you're feeling better, then resume taking them if you aren't?

Can you combine taking Airborne with other over the counter cold medicines? It's not technically a "drug" right? It's an herbal supplement? So this means that it shouldn't necessarily conflict with any prescriptions taken?

I realize I would need to ask a doctor, but maybe there's a DIS doctor out there willing to help out!

Zicam is wonderful! Since I found out about it last year I have only been sick 3 days at the most because I use it at the onset of a cold. I used to be sick for 10 days to 2 weeks everytime I caught a cold (and I have three kids and the bring everything home from school). In fact none of us get really sick anymore thanks to Zicam. I use it as soon as I feel symptoms. I swear by the nose gel. I actually squirt it onto a q-tip to keep the bottle uncontaminated so it can be used by other family members.
