I have had some great info and recommendations for our forthcoming trip to the magic. How about the places, rides, restaurants, shoping areas, car hire companies, atractions that IN YOUR OPINION should be avoided like the plague?

looking forward to your advise......

I can see the poll isnt going to work - oh well we live and learn, i would still like your recomendations on the down side of the magic!
Thanks

I would avoid the Pirates Dinner Adventure on I-Drive. If we had paid full price for our tickets I would have been fuming. That's our third attempt at a dinner show (only one in Orlando though) and it will be our final one too!

Wonderworks on I drive
Jungle jims at LBV(food)

And the dinosaur park on route to Tampa.

I dont know if this is still there, but I would avoid King Henry's Feast.
I have never been to one since and dont plan too either.

I would agree with Pegasus about The Pirate Dinner Show.
The food in particular was inedible IMO.
Also like to add The Food Rocks show at Epcot, probably just me but I think it's boring and very dated.

Arbian knights was pretty dire the food is very much below par for the states, the best bit of the whole evening was when they let the horses run free in the ring at the end.

King Henry's Feast has been knocked down!

They were just finishing levelling the ground when we were there in Oct. 2001.

i dont know if u were talking about fast food or not but i thought wendys on i-drive was terrible. Apart from that that never got a bad meal.

There's now an Olive Garden restaurant on that site. Far better!

We went to a dinner show on our first ever trip to Orlando (Mardi Gras I think).

We havent been to one since;)

I have to say also that while i wouldnt class it as an "avoid at all costs", the Mercado Centre is now well past its best. I can remember when it was the place to go for shopping and a stroll in the evenings.

Now it seems a little sad and run down.

Thank you to everybody who has contributed so far. I will definately make a list of the things to miss and take it with me.Keep them coming.
Thanks,
D

Ming Court on I Drive.

May look nice but we have tried it both times and it has been vile.

Also a Taste Of India on the top end of I drive. Been open 11 years and boasts customers of Elton John etc but we both had terrible food poisioning.

The trouble with an "avoid at all costs" is that with the numbers of people visiting many of the attractions, hotels and restaurants is that you run a very high chance that virtually every possible option will have at least one person who has had a unfortunate (and probably rare) experience. Given that people are much more likely to write a bad report than a good one I tend to allow for a 30% bad revues before I would discount an idea of something I wanted to try. Even on this thread there are votes to avoid Food Rocks at Epcot, granted it's not a "must do attraction" but it's pretty inoffensive and I've known many kids ( and a few adults) that find it quite entertaining and Jungle Jim's restaurant which I know has many fans who are regulars on return visits. It's possible to get a surly waiter, an unfortunate choice of meal or just a plain bad meal at even some of the best restaurants.

By putting a question in this fashion and putting too much faith in the replies you run the risk of missing out on some worthwhile experiences, JMHO.

Thanks for your opinions Vernon, however with the amount of options for both dining and atractions it is worthwhile considering the points of view of others. I agree entirely that most people will have a negative experience at a restaurant once before disregarding it forever but i find posts with negative comments from two or more people concerning.
I am not advocating a mass boycott of these places but i am sure that most people will welcome this type of information and allow them the chance to make an informed decission.
For example - i was going to book up a dinner show for my party and probably still will... but these posts have rung some alarm bells and so armed with this information i will now choose with a lot more care than i otherwise would of. It easy to beleive that everything is rosey in Orlando when you are wrapped up in the magic but i am sure with a little bit of research a bad experience may be avoided.
Thanks,
D
