Avoid the Mummy first thing in the AM?

Seems like the first thing we should do (hitting both parks) is head right to the Mummy at opening but it appears it opens an hour early for 3 day and longer guests. Does that mean staying one night wont qualify early (would we be turned away?), and that must make the line huge even at opening. Should we just do IOA and check Mummy later? Thanks.

I'm unfamiliar with this hour early thing, but despite that, hit RotM as early as you can. Not only would the wait be shorter, but it also guarantees you'll be able to ride (it closed down as I was boarding the car right before closing a couple nights back), and hopefully it'll up the chance that everything is working properly.

I was just there for three nights and did not hear anything about this. I would not have been there that early anyways. We rode it twice with only a 10-15 min wait with FOTL. Both times were afternoon/early evening. Awesome ride! So much thought put into it.

The early entry for Mummy was included in a package I booked. It entitles the bearer of the letter (included n the package)to enter the park early to ride the Mummy on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Just go to the park when it first opens and you'll have no problem walking on the Mummy--unless it's "down".

Thats another reason to go on mummy early, it breaks down alot

But sometimes it's closed at park opening and opens later in the day...

That Imhotep sure is a picky fellow.

We were there a few weeks ago and did Mummy first. DD was afraid of the ride, but still wanted to go on it. Gates opened at 8:30 and everyone was let in. Went straight to the Mummy and got on with no wait. However, it stopped 3 times during the ride. We missed some effects. Lights came on and everything. It was good for DD because she could see that it wasn't real, but everyone else was not very happy. We thought they'd let us ride again, but nope, we had to get off. I rode Dinosaur at Disney with malfunctions and they let us ride again, but I guess that is a Disney thing. Anyway, we went back in line and rode again with no wait. Like a previous poster said, you are good until about 10.

Not necessarily a Disney thing. If you get stuck on MIB, they will let you get back on and ride again.

The ride might have had to shut down for a while so there was no sense in getting back in line.

No, the ride was working. We went back in line and rode it with no malfunctions. i just figured if the ride was working after our mishaps, they would have let us stay on because we really didn't experience the ride . People in our car were asking to ride again but the attendant just shook his head. We could see people loading in front of us so we knew it was working. I wasn't too bothered because we didn't have to wait at all, but if that happened after a 2 hour wait (whcih I saw later in the day), I'd be pretty upset.

Man, I hope it never breaks down when I'm on it. I would really hate to see it with the lights on and everything. What would happen if it broke down in the scarab room and you got stuck there. Could another car come and slam in behind you?

No, because the railcar behind it would be stopped in the treasure chamber. The railcar in the treasure chamber can't advance if the scarab room has a railcar in it.
