Has anyone rented from AVIS at MCO lately? How did it go? What kind of car did you get? Were the lines at the counter long? Did you happen to see any of their luxury cars?

Thanks! ;)

I rented in late Jan. It went really well. I had booked via Priceline for a VERY low 15.00 per day for an intermediate. It was accepted, obviously, for Avis. We went to the counter, three people ahead of us, lots of agents, no waiting. I asked the agent if we could avoid a white car ( I HATE white cars) and she said (with a chuckle) this is FL most of the cars are white, I said I understood this, but, I really have an aversion to white cars, well, she typed in a few things and asked if beige would be ok, I said sure, well to our suprise we ended up with a brand new champagne colored Monte Carlo. Not only did I avoid the dreaded white car, we were upgraded. The car was great, the service was great and I had NO complaints what so ever.
Sort of a long answer to your inquiry, however, I wanted to share a very positive and nice experience.

My husbands travels on business, and recently rented twice from Avis in Atlanta Georiga and Virigina in the airport. I used a code to reserve him a Cadillac Sedan at both airports. Well, the price was cheap and they questioned it big time. I printed out the confirmation and price page, which was $45 a day, not including tax's. He had it with him, but wasn't happy about being held up (men!). Anyway, he got the price ONLY because he had the print out from the online reservation. They had the Cadillac's hidden, and had to go get them from some place else (both airports)! I have the same car reserved through Avis for our vacation in August to WDW at MCO. I'm not sure why these car rental agencies offer discounts online and then when you go to pick up your vehicle they don't want to honor the price. We will see what happens this month at MCO, my husband has a meeting at WDW late March, and staying at CSR.

Thank you both! You told me exactly what I want to hear! I just made a reservation, and got an excellent rate! Hopefully they'll have a nice, new, non-white Cadillac Deville for me!

Thanks again!
Cali

Cali,
You are entirely welcome. BTW, they never questioned the rate I received from Priceline.
Hope you get that nice new NON WHITE Cadillac Deville !!!! :)

LOL, Gail, we "lost" our white Oldsmobile 88 in the Animal Kingdom Parking lot in 1998! After 45 minutes of searching the parking lot, we did finally find it (thanks to the GF parking pass!).

No Robin they did not get me a nice new non white Caddy, but, there again I did not bid on one and, frankly, did not want one. I placed a bid on an intermediate, and received a beautiful new non white Monte Carlo. :)
So, tell me, please, what was the point of your question?

Cali,
LOL. I find I am always looking for a black Miata for the first few days. :)
Does it seem to you that no matter what you get color and make/model wise there are always a kajillion of them?

I only want to know hoe you get an inexpensive rate from them?? I keep trying to use them, but, they are always soooo much more expensive than National with my Entertainment book coupons and DC discount.

Is there an Avis price cutting secret I don't know about????

I've used Priceline in the past (got Avis, too) and would this time, BUT, I am not arriving in Orlando until 10:30 PM (yes, PM) and will have my two young grandsons with me,so, don't want to chance having to use a shuttle.
Otherwise, I would be using Priceline again.
