Avis car rental in SNA (John Wayne airport)

Hello!

I have a car rental reservation with Avis, in SNA airport, for the end of the month. First time visit to Disneyland, after over 20 visits to WDW

Many companies in Orlando Airport let you choose your car in the parking lot, in the approriate category, which is great!

I'd like to know if Avis works that way in Santa Ana, of if the attendant will choose the car at the counter ?

I rent through Avis for all of my business and personal trips. I'm a Preferred member and at every airport I travel to, I just go straight to the car as they will have my name on a display that indicates the spot my car is in. There have been times where I had to actually change what vehicle I was given but typically you just reserve a certain class of car and they give you one from that category.......at their discretion. I'm sure they will try to accomodate you if you go to their counter however, it will likely cause you to have a fairly long wait depending on what they have that's ready.

One point I would like to make though. I never have any problems with Avis at any airports I travel to with regards to the reservation process. However, Avis at SNA has given me fits almost every time. Even with preferred status, I still have to wait in a really long line for the counter instead of proceeding on to the car. The agents haven't typically been the nicest I've experienced either. And, the last time I was there......this past August......they actually gave me a receipt for turning in a different car and mine was not closed out until I was going through my receipts and noticed that little detail a week later. I had to have the extra week's worth of charges reversed on my credit card. I don't want to say that you'll experience any problems there but it seems like I've been jinxed every time. SNA is a great place to fly into, though, and having the rental car agencies right onsite in walking distance is a huge plus.
