Avg Bill at V&A's?

Although we don't splurge on V&A every trip nor even every year, it is absolutely worth it. We'll be there next in January and I'm already looking forward to it.

I guess it's worth it--we're doing our 32'nd V&A meal this Monday night. Of course, we've been going since 1988 when they first opened.
And in all that time, we've never, ever been invited to meet Chef Hunnel!

Tell them to trot that Chef out!! More than 30 visits!

We did the Chef's Table in Feb of 2007 and met Chef Hunnel. He was nice, but busy.

V&A's was extremely expensive, but DH and I never go to dinner alone at home, so we have decided the $500-600 we may spend on an annual dinner at V&A's is about the same as we would spend if we went out to dinner once a week at home. We also usually tell ourselves it is our birthday dinner to each other! AND we shred the receipt so my father-in-law doesnt come across it and have a coronary.

We were thrilled with the experience. To us, it was worth every penny. And I tend to be very budget minded when it comes to anything for myself.

Plan on spending a bundle, forget about the cost, and enjoy your meal and your new wife's reaction! Congrats to you both!!

When all is said and done, about how much can I expect to spend on a dinner for two? I want to know not so much because I can't afford it, but because I am cheap. But we will be on our honeymoon, and It is something I want to do for my new wife.

So, I need to prepare myself as I don't want to start crying at the table when the bill comes.

P.S. We will be doing the wine pairing as well.

Our average bill is around $300, including tip. We don't do the wine pairings, and only rarely do an "extra".

Is it worth it? For us, 100% YES. The experience, the ambiance...it's just amazing, And the food is not only incredibly good, it's gorgeous. It's an "event" meal, for us...perfect for anniversaries, birthdays...REALLY special occasions (or romantic treats), and was a GREAT first dinner (because who actually gets to EAT DINNER at their reception, right?) on our honeymoon back in 1999.

Tip: Order coffee with your dessert. The vacume pot coffee is part of the experience, IMHO. We liked it so much, we actually bought one of the pots which we bring out for special occasions and dinner parties.

We did the chefs table last year with the wine pairing. I believe that was in the $550-$600 range or so for the 2 of us, but remember all of the extras (caviar, kobe) are included, plus extra courses. Perhaps that is where the $500 is coming from?

We used disney rewards and saved for the occasion. We went with 2 other couples, and yes, we were worried if the cost was going to justify the experience (we agonized for months). Imagine getting a bill for dinner for the 6 of us that was well over $1500! That was a shock (even though we expected it).

Bottom line - it was worth every penny. The pictures don't do the food justice, and everything was AMAZING. And as far as a bargain, one of the couples in our party had been to chefs tables in Europe, and they said V&A compares with the best, at a fraction of the price.

Hunnel wasn't there, but Aimee was, and she was GREAT.

No meal is worth that much money!!!
I would actually be mad at my husband if he took me to V&A's. There are many wonderful, elegant restaurants at WDW that cost a fourth of V&A that provide an amazing food and experience.
Admittedly, I have not eaten there. My sister and her husband celebrated their anniversary there, and had a wonderful meal, but not THAT wonderful.
JMHO. If you are prepared to drop that much on a meal, ENJOY!!!!!!

Once again worth is very subjective.
We did it for our 20th anniversary. It was a fabulous meal, very romantic and a life long memory so it was worth every dime.
Would I do it every trip no but don't knock it till you try it.

DH and I have done the Chef's Table with both Chef Hummel and Aimee- and I have to they are both great! I hope you get to meet one of them. I suggest you mention to Israel (the maitre 'd) all your visits. My guess is he will hook you up!

To the OP- if you and your wife enjoy nice meals at restaurants, then go for it, and enjoy every moment of it! Take your time, enjoy the food and the experience!

DW & I have eaten there about 2-3x/yr and always enjoy it. While we go to WDW a lot more often with our APs, it's our grown up night out splurge for special occasions. Since DW always seems to enjoy the splurges, she inevitably ends up with the kobe (and she loves the turbot too), but it's rare for me to be sparked for an add on (aside from the wine pairings), so after DDE discount, plus tip, we seem to always be somewhere about $400/meal...
High enough to make it a consideration (ie why we don't eat there every trip), but certainly not the most I've spent on a meal with DW...

As I am diabetic, when I go to V&A I will only have a glass of champagne at the start of the meal. I am also the designated driver. So I always skip the wine pairings.
