Avg Bill at V&A's?

I thought it was worth every penny.

I disagree that it could be compared to any other higher end restaurant at WDW. No other restaurant on property comes close to the entire experience, even though the other restaurants do have good food.

I have an upcoming reservation there in a few weeks, and I'm really looking forward to it. :goodvibes

FWIW Comparable number of courses of lesser ingredients at any high end chain(Ruth's Chris,Morton's,Roys etc..) can easily run over $100 per person without wine pairings.

I have never elsewhere been served fois gras, caviar, lobster,Kobe beef, truffles and all the other luxury items for anywhere near the the reasonable price WD charges. And never in one setting:woohoo: .

Disney's other great resturants Citicos,Cali grill,Jiko etc are great and Flying Fish has the best pasta dish I've ever eaten but still they are decidedly a step down.

Notice how everyone who's actually been to V&A say it's worth it?
There's your answer right there !

We went for our 10th anniversary and it was our gift to each other. We had the DDE card and didn't do the wine pairing. We thought it was worth every cent, and while we can't afford to go every vacation, we are already saving for our February 2010 trip as a special gift for each other.

For me it was the best meal that I've ever had. I've never been to another five diamond restaurant, but it really was an amazing meal.

I think that you and your new wife will have an amazing time.

Actually the food is only part of the experience. Atmosphere and time together add into the equation.
For whatever it is worth, I have spent way more then $500 for a sporting event or concert so I stick with my original statement, V&A experience is not for everyone and value is in the eye of the beholder.:rotfl:

Totally agree!

Victoria and Alberts tasting menu is the best tasting menu I've ever had. We upgraded the osetra caviar and the chat d'yquem. I thought the service was good, but not as good as many other upscale dining experiences. I thought the decor was not great either. Still the food was amazing.

My wife and I ate at V&A for our first dinner alone as husband and wife and it was the best meal experience we ever had. My wife is a very picky eater and when I called to reserve I mentioned that fact and she was given a seperate menu from mine. We even got invited into the kitchen to meet Chef Scott Hunnell. I went with the wine pairing ($60) and we both added Kobe beef ($35 each), total bill with tax & 20% tip was $480.70 then subtract for the Disney's Dining Experience card, the new total was $399.76 including tax & 20% tip! That DDE card saved us hundreds of dollars over the course of our 16-night honeymoon trip to DW. Well worth the $60 fee. Anyway, You MUST try Victoria & Alberts!:thumbsup2

There used to be a restaurant in Minneapolis that had the V&A level of food and service for around $100 a plate (plus the wine pairings), but it closed over five years ago - Goodfellows.

I've never been but I guess it comes down to, is it important to you and to her? Are dining experiences memories you'll cherish and can you afford it?

Personally, I'd choke my husband if he ever spent that much money on a meal. I don't care what is on the menu, nor what type of china it's served on. It's the experience I think, not so much the food as you can be satiated after most any meal. Personally that level of dining isn't something I find appealing. Nice dining is one thing but I'm a reasonable person and I don't have to have big bucks spent on food to enjoy the company of my spouse. In fact, the little things mean more to me than big ticket dinners like the way he jumps up to wait on me. I have no problem with him spending upwards of $3000.00 on a baseball card but he better never come home with a 100.00 piece of cheesecake and I LOOOVEE cheesecake...lol..I guess I prefer simple things and I like being frugal. Having absolutely no debt makes me happier than chocolate chess pie.

It's your honeymoon, do what will make you and her happy. To each his own, just have fun!!!

Seeing the pics from V&A I think I'd still be hungry..ONE stalk of asparagus? That'd just make me mad..haha...Give me a medium rare prime rib (kobe beef is totally overated, yes I've had it) with horseradish sauce and au jus and I am happy as a clam.

A meal for one at Nacoossee's could cost you $95, I have been to Victoria and Alberts twice and I will be returning next year. I go solo so there is noone else to care where I eat, they make you feel so comfortable as a solo diner its definaty worth every single penny.

I guess it's worth it--we're doing our 32'nd V&A meal this Monday night. Of course, we've been going since 1988 when they first opened.
And in all that time, we've never, ever been invited to meet Chef Hunnel!

Have a great time! :goodvibes You'll have to let us know if you finally get to meet Chef Hunnel. ;) We're still waiting... :rolleyes1 Although, Chef Aimee will always be our favorite. :thumbsup2

I've got his business card in my photo album from when I did the Chef's Table (my first visit) back in 1996. I remember he was not around when I did Chef's Table in 2002, though.

$500 is more than my grocery budget for an entire month. I would only eat there is I wasn't paying no matter how good it is...just could not justify it. I am very frugal though and don't much care for anything gourmet.

I think it's important to mention that even though the menu is price fixe at Victoria & Albert's, it does not need to cost $500 for dinner.

The base menu cost is $125 per person. Tip and tax takes you up to $156/per person. With the DDE/TiW discount it's down to $130/per person

In no way am I saying this is an inexpensive meal, but $260-$300 is a lot less than $500.

Not that a gourmet meal will be everyone's cup of tea ever. I was just concerned reading all of the references to everyone's $500 meal that the impression is that everyone who goes spends $500. We went, spent $260 and had the most amazing meal of our lives. DH and I gave it to each other as our 10th anniversary gift and it's a wonderful memory that we'll carry forever.

Tricia1972 -- But, the lower price is the price without wine. Can't imagine a V&A dinner without wine!! It would only be half a meal.

Too rich for my budget, but I would to do this "some day".

It's your money. If you can afford it go for it. Oh heck, even if you can't afford it-do it! Have a great time!

We are going for the first time in November. We aren't doing the wine pairings. Is cocktails available?

Well, as you said "to each his/her own". There are various things I can point out from your post that that shows you did not get the entire picture of what everyone who has eaten there is saying...but of course, again, as you said "to each his/her own".

I have eaten there, and yes it was worth it...talking about affording, or not having debt - don't see how that came into the post...

Halloweenqueen:
Yes, cocktails, mixed drinks , beer and even ice tea and coke are available. V&A uses the bar at Citrico's for all of that (unless it's Monday or Tuesday, when Citrico,s is closed and Mizners is used.
