Average wait times for 'moderate' crowds in May?

So, what does moderate crowds mean for wait times for the more popular rides at each of the parks? Are we looking at an hour or more when it's at it's busiest? Or less than that?

It depends on the what day you go to the park, the time you go and whether or not Disney has anything special going on. I don't think you will have a problem with May unless you plan on being at SWW and trying to get on the New Star Tours Ride.

I've always found that using FP helps with the more popular rides. There are some rides that will always have long waits unless you take advantage of EME.

When Soarin first came to Epcot, the wait was always over an hour sometimes 2, and if you didn't get a FP early in the morning your FP could be 4-6 hours wait. Plus Test Track was a nightmare always breaking down. Now the difficult ride is Toy Story Mania. You need to get a FP right away in the morning for TSMM. Also Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh and Dumbo always seems to have a long wait.

EME and FP do help to make the rides manageable.

In May '10, we had moderate crowds (5-7 on the crowd calendars). The following times were typical after the 11a-12p timeframe:

At DHS, TSM - 60 mins plus all day, RnRC and ToT - 30-40 mins. At Epcot, Soarin was usually 60 mins, TT was 30 mins with lower times for single rider. At MK, the Mountains were usually 30-40 mins given the time of day, Dumbo was usually 45+, the slow loaders (e.g. AstroOrbiter) would get up to 30 mins at time, Pooh and Peter Pan would also climb to 30-40+. Can't really say about AK on that trip.

With that said, we FPed all of the above that offered it and hit the 10 min waits found all over the parks.

Mid day numbers:

Figure Space Mtn 50 mins
thunder mtn 40 mins
soarin 85 mins
test track 30 mins
Toy Story 90 mins

Those are midday numbers that i can remember and the worst that theyll be during your trip

Most rides are very manageable, grab a fast pass for one and ride another while your waiting. There is one exception and thats when a indoor show is just finished then all of a sudden all the rides in that area become very crowded.

Shows like Lion King at AK, Indiana Jones at DHS have a large audience and when that show is over everyone heads out and over to another ride. All the parks have lots of shows so there's always a lot of mass exits. These exit times effect the rides for a while.

I've found most of the time rides are 15-20 minutes, some less. Be aware though there will be times when shows are releasing when that 15-20 minutes become 45-50 minutes very quickly.

An important point to keep in mind is whether or not you are visiting a low crowd park for that day/night, or one of the higher crowd parks. Example, if MK happens to be a low crowd park on a particular day, the wait for a ride might be 5 minutes, or less. The day before, or after, if a high crowd day, it might be 30 minutes. Always work towards visiting the low crowd park/s each day night.
