Sorry- I'm sure this has been asked and answered and I just can't find it- but is there an idea/average of what the AP discount for deluxe hotels runs? We're currently booked AAA rate at the CR for September, and I'm wondering how much we might get off with the AP.

Are the discounts better at different times of the year?

Thanks.

This year 2008 there is a different rate structure and the AP discounts have been "different," so it's sort of a guessing game so far as to what the discounts will be. For example, in Jan-Feb 2008 value season, there was a flat $50 off per night AP discount no matter what level resort. So this obviously is a good deal for a value resort, but a not-so-great deal for a deluxe resort (in the past, deluxe resorts have generally been approx $100 off per night with AP discount, give or take, but there are normally black-out times during peak season to be aware of).

We are going to Disney in April and AP discounts for regular season April-May are pretty decent for deluxes. WL is around $111 off per night. YC is around $91 off per night.

So there really doesn't appear to be any set pattern yet for AP discounts in 2008. I guess the good news is that at least they've continued to be offered to us.

Thanks. I was trying to guess whether the AP discounts are usually better than AAA. I guess it doesn't matter, by the time September rolls around, I'm going to be happy to be going anywhere.

It is going to depend on the season and room. Can only speak for the Polynesian Resort, but for that one, the AP rate has always been much better than the AAA rate (~23 sometime more% v. 10%). We've been going since 2005 and always wind up changing our AAA rate room-only reservation to AP when it comes out. We only go once per year, but the AP discount winds up offsetting the cost of the AP when compared to the AAA rate and buying a MYW ticket.

Of course then if we are fortunate enough to snag a general public room-only code, we run the numbers and typically find that one is even better. This just happened with our upcoming May trip, so I'm glad I hadn't bought my AP yet and will buy my MYW ticket online, probably from undercover (DH and kids already have days left on non-exp. tickets).:wizard:

Thanks. :thumbsup2 We're heading down in September pre-cruise. It was a toss up between CR and Poly- first choice was really Polynesian, but they didn't have our dates available with AAA. So we're headed for the CR.
