I did Standard 2D and it was fine. I'm not a big 3D person.Going next Monday for our anniversary. What do you guys think, would it be ok in a standard showing, or do we really need to spring for Imax/3D? We have Moviepass!
I think you'd be fine in 2D too. I have watched some in 3D, but did not think it added much to the enjoyment of the movies. I doubt I'd spring for it any time soon.
Our theater was packed, and we had some not so nice people, there was more than one time we had to collectively say, hey put your phone down.
My DS saw it twice. He really liked it, but as a comic fan, I think he enjoys these movies more than I do.
I didn't hate it---but dang was it unexpected. When the credit started to roll and it became obvious that blank screen really was the end our almost sold out theatre collectively gasped.
Similarly, at least a dozen people (probably twice that---and it was a smallish theatre) exclaimed either "Holy ****" or "no ****" almost in unison after the after credit scene.
So I guess reactions were pr3etty much all on the same page.
I enjoyed it a lot---so many funny moments.
Right, it wasn't the ending, it was the beginning. A little note about that, in the comic book that this is based off of, that "happening" is one of the very first things that happened. The story had to deal with that. It was certainly shocking in terms of the movie, but rest assured that when dealing with things that are on this cosmic level, there is no damage that cannot be un-damaged.
Overall I liked the movie quite a lot. It sure didn't feel like two-and-a-half-hours! It did jump around a lot and it was like a series of excuses for the next character to show up and flex, but, hey, you can't knock it for being a crowd-pleaser!

Yes, DH is a huge comic book fan *cough - nerd- cough* and said this actually the beginning of the story and come on, who is ever "dead" in the comic book universe? I mean Loki has been gone at least twice in the last decade.
What will be interesting is to see how Ant-Man and Wasp and Captain Marvel weave or ignore the events in those movies which come out before part 2 in May of next year. Also, do the tv shows like S.H.I.E.L.D and Jessica Jones deal with it? Interesting. We loved it btw, the theater was packed even though it was the first nice weekend day all year and there was lots of laughter.
I agree with regular 2D, I am not a big 3D fan and can't imagine it would add that much.
I've seen a good number of op-ed pieces along this same vein. I think the gist of the complaint is that the Movie Studios/Disney went with a cliffhanger purely as a cash grab. For some movies this is legitimate criticism. The Hobbit. Harry Potter Deathly Hallows. Hunger Games Mockingbird. These all could have been single movies.I enjoyed the movie. But it's hard to create a major impact when you recognize the ambitions of The Walt Disney Company. So the ending was meaningless.

.I wonder if the audience was mostly people unfamiliar with the MCU who went based on all the buzz the film is generating? I don't think most of the humor would work if you weren't familiar with the characters and their personalities already.I was surprised how almost no one in my theater was laughing at the humor. I was and the woman next me did, but I didn't hear anyone else laughing. I thought there was a lot of good humor in it.

Overall, I really enjoyed the movie. I really appreciated the humor that was sprinkled in throughout the movie and thought that Marvel handled the large cast very well under the circumstances. Yes, I do know that the ending isn't truly the ending and that all of the deaths at the end of the movie will likely be erased or reversed in some manner. But, despite that, the ending emotionally wrecked me and I found it to be a little uncalled for. Forgive my rant, but that movie left me with a ton of emotions.![]()
(Spoilers Below!)Uncalled for? How so?
