I know there is data for the total number of contracts by UY. Is there anything showing the number of contracts by UY by each resort?

It always seems the add on contract I am looking for is tough to find for my UY. My use year is August which is basically in the middle of the total number of outstanding contracts.

Just wondering if certain resorts for the month of August are tougher than others simply based on the supply.

It is interesting to see that some of the earlier resorts had a more equal disbursement across the UY compared to the newer resorts GFV and BLT. I wonder if it was more regulated, but now they just let people choose their UY. Funny how February has the second largest percentage of total UY but i feel that i rarely see them for sale - I guess those people don't want to let go of their contracts.

Murphy says that whenever you are looking to purchase there won't be any contracts in your UY no matter which one it is. :D

Because they insist on existing owners buying the same UY as they already have and because newer resorts sold a lot of add on points they had less flexibility to start with

I don't know why or how Disney Vacation Development originally intended to use the concept of Use Years back in 1991. Maybe DVD thought a member's UY would dictate what times of year they would choose to book a stay. Old Key West, which was the first DVC resort, is the only resort that has a UY distribution that is close to being balanced. The spread between the smallest UY and largest UY at OKW is 10.5% to 14.6%.

But by the time sales started for Vero Beach and Hilton Head (DVC resorts numbers 2 and 3), DVD had abandoned any attempt to keep the UYs in balance. Bay Lake Tower has the greatest spread between smallest (5.1%) and greatest (37.8%), but even BCV has a 22.3% difference.

It looks like Polynesian Villas & Bungalows will be weighted toward the December UY. About 32% of PVB's declared Residential Units have been assigned to the December UY.

When I went to a DVC presentation recently, they were pushing December use year, wonder if there's a real reason for that. The guide implied that December use year was the only UY we would get previous year (current UY) as well as the current year points. He also made it sound like a limited time offer, like yeah, we can only do that till about the end of this month

Historically, DVD has offered new buyers a Use Year that is about six to seven months in the past. In other words, in June and July DVD will offer new buyers a December Use Year, and then will probably switch to the February Use Year for buyers who purchase in August or September.

Because right now a dec UY is tech still in the 2015 UY and would have 2015 points available with 2016 points coming relatively soon, a Feb UY right now would already be in the 2016 UY-so they couldn't use the line that they are giving you "extra" last years points
