I was wondering if anybody knows if Bonine is available in Canada? I asked the pharmicist at my local ShoppersDrug Mart and she said all sea sickness drugs are prescription only. Is this right? Also I have heard about something called Moleskin that is supposed to be good to stop blisters from forming. Has anybody heard of this? Sometimes it is irritating to hear about all these cool things and not be able to find them!

Moleskin you can get at any drug store, I'm SK and Shopper's Drug mart carries it here, just ask. It should be in the band-aid area or the foot care area....

Bonine I've never heard of, but you can get gravol which works well for air/sea sickness OTC in canada, just ask for it at the pharmacy.

Don't use Gravol if you are prone to getting drowsy when taking medication. I'm going to ask my Doc about the drugs but you could always try buying them once you get to the States? Not to bad if you are driving but difficult if you fly...

If I get an answer from my Doc I'll post it here...:D

Hi Limmer,
I bought my Bonnie ( Bonamine) at my local shoppers drug mart and I just called there to confirm they still carry it ( you never know with different drugs being recalled all the time). Its over the counter, not RX but its not cheap. I think I paid around $7 for 5 tablets.
Were you talking with a pharmacist or a pharmacy worker? Even gravol has been over the counter for years! Some people say Bonnie makes you sleepy but I was OK with it. Also you should start taking it a day or so before you leave, one so you know you are OK with the medication and two so you're system starts working with it ( helps me with the flight too). If really not sure check with you Doctor. Have a great cruise!

I bought bonine under the trade name Bonamine at Shoppers last March. It is definitely over the counter. I would suggest taking one before your trip though as both my DH and DD were very drowsy from it. It actually spoiled our first day at sea. BTW, DD takes gravol all the time for car sickness and it does not make her sleepy.

Have you thought about seabands? They are available at most drug stores. They are sweat bands with a small plastic bead that sits on your wrist. They stop motion sickness without any drugs. My mom uses them all the time. She is very prone to motion sickness and did not want to sleep through her cruise. I used them to help with morning sickness.

They also have bonnie available on the Disney cruise. It's free and there is a large bowl of it just outside the medicle center.

When we went on a cruise (not Disney) this winter my doctor suggested the ear patch- called Transderm-V, which is available behind the pharmacy counter, but does not require a prescription. It works for up to 3 days at a time. We didn't need any seasickness stuff at all... hopefully you will have the same good luck!
