Has anyone here made ressies at the last minute and how possible is that with DVC? Here is my dilemma--I am purchasing points by resale and it won't be final until some time in August(I HOPE). Hubby and I want to take a vacation using the 2003 points that we are buying in November 2004. Do you think we will have a problem ? Thanks for all your help!

Thanksgiving would be a longshot. BCV and BWV will be a longshot due to the Food & Wine fest at Epcot.

Other than that, if you aren't too particular about your dates, you will probably find SOMETHING at one of the DVC resorts. Hard to tell when, what resort or what size room without calling.

Weekends might be your best option if you aren't too concerned about the higher point costs.

Assuming you have a December UY, if you can book before 8/31, you should be able to book at one of the Disney Collection resorts if DVC is full. But, if memory serves, you can't book the DC less than 60 days before the end of your Use Year for a stay during that period. So you would have to book by the end of August for this to be an option.

Welcome to the Dis! I would think that if your trip isn' t too close to Thanksgiving you'll probably have a shot at getting something, if you don't care about which resort it is, and what size accomodations are available. If you can be flexible with your days you probably won't have a problem. It might not hurt to tell your resale agent that you are in a hurry, sometimes they can speed things along. Congrats on your purchase!

okay! I am lost on the 60 day rule thing. Our renewal date is June and we have to use 2003 points by then so what is the lastest we can book at other disney resorts for november? SO much to know! We are planning on banking 2004 points to use in june 2005 with our 2005 points. Will this work and when do we have to bank those points not to lose them. Our dates for Nov are in the range of the 4th to the 16th-- probaby 7 days in that time area.Our home resort is OKW--will it be easier to get something there or elsewhere?

OK, I'm a bit confused (not the first time.)

You said you had 2003 points to use, so I assumed you had a December Use Year.

If you have a June Use Year, points issued on 6/1/03 had to be used or banked by 5/31/04. If not, they are lost. Were your 2003 points banked into 2004, or are we just talking about 2004 points?

With a June Use Year, there would be no restrictions on booking a DVC resort or a Disney Collection resort for November '04 with your June '04 points--except for availability, of course.

I'm Sorry to be confusing ! The 2003 points were banked to be used in 2004--so I understand we can use them until 5-31-05. Right??? And then I would bank the 2004 points to use in 2005.
I really do appreciate your input and advice! Just trying to get this all straight while I wait for the papers to come through!!
By the way does anyone know how long the paperwork will take? They have the deposit and I guess everything went to Disney for ROFR! Once Disney says okay--how long to get the membership so I can make ressies?

That makes a little bit more sense.

DVC has 30 days to invoke or refuse ROFR. Assuming they decline, you then have to go through your closing. After closing, it takes a week or so to actually get into DVC's computers.

Keep bugging your broker to check on ROFR and then to get the closing finalized. Then wait about a week and give DVC a call. If you aren't in when you call, try again daily until they have you registered.

I know things can be totally different for Nov., but I booked on 8/1 for 6 nights starting 9/2 at OKW.

When you call, just be flexible with where you want to stay and the accomodations you want. I had a list of 6 different options, but didn't even need them.
