Autopay

So I am brand new and already have 2025 dues paid. So my question is since MS could not answer, if I turn on Autopay for dues does it start now for 2026 or does it start in Jan for 2026 dues? I am aware of the gift card situation so I am thinking of doing that monthly and paying it all up front in January 2026 but in the instance I want to set up Autopay I want to know how it works for paid dues already.

If your 2025 dues are paid, turning on Autopay now will just have it set up and ready for use when 2026 rolls around. They won’t start drawing from your bank account now because 2026 dues haven’t been assessed yet and won’t be drawn until January 2026.

I have been using autopay for years. It is much less painful to take out 1/12th every month that get hit with the bill for the full amount in Jan.

You cannot pay with GC if on Autopay or you have to take it off and then pay but you must put it back before February 15th or its all due at once. Its a new rule.

Oh. I had no idea. We only have DVC as of early last year. The initial dues were done at closing and this year was handled on autopay.
Good to know about the GC though, I usually buy them in bulk from BJs when they have the sales.

And you can still collect them and then apply next January.

It must come from a bank account. If you want to use CC or a gift card, you have to pay the full balance left.

And, we believe that the gift card will need to be large enough to cover the balance.

Our autopay just paid them in full so it was a one & done payment. I guess I can't use GC for a one & done payment because the GC is limited to $1000 and out dues are much higher. If I understood you, doing monthly debits from the GC isn't an option anymore so that route is gone. Maybe I can split it? among several GC? when paying in full? It isn't a big deal, the GC and CC points amount to about 7% or $300. Hmm, now that I did the math, it is kind of a big deal! That's a Disney character dining reservation!

If your 2025 dues are paid in full, then any payments now you try would be prepaying 2026

So, you can turn off autopay and make partial payments to sit in your account until next year.

One dues are posted for January 2026, you can pay with gift cards in multiple transactions.

For those who don’t pay in full every January and who go on monthly payments can no longer go in after Feb 15th, and add a gift card to pay some of what is left. That is what was stopped.

For example, I have a little over $2k left on one of my contracts….i am on autopay and can no longer use a gift card to pay that down.

If I removed autopay now, the entire $2k is now due in full and I must pay it or risk late fees. Since the system wont take a partial payment, I’d have to use a CC or a gift card that pays in full, and you can’t have one that is more than $1k.

Now, I don’t know if we have had anyone who has tested the system and I am not low enough that I want to pay on full now.

But that is how it is supposed to work now.
