In your opinion, what is the best mat size to bring onboard for your character signatures? My 1st thought was 11x14 with a 5x7 opening, but then wondered if a 12x12 with an 8x8 or 6x6 opening would be better since I'm not sure which orientation I'll need (horizontal or vertical).

Would love to see your framed autograph mat!!

I have an 11 x 14 with a 5 x 7 opening and many 10 x 10 with 5 x 5 openings. I like the smaller ones better because then the signatures are not all spread out, but nicely fill the mats. I also have had black mats done with silver pens which turned out really nice!

Here's ours. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. We did the 11x14 with a 5x7 opening and matted it all in a larger frame.

Very pretty- what is the circle on the bottom right of the mat?

Black and silver- I had never thought of that- I bet that looks very fun!

We got an 11x17 matted to 8x10. It makes for a kind of skinny mat so I hope they're able to work with it, but we don't have a lot of wall room. I want to use one of the pictures from Shutters with the logo so I'm going with the 8x10 opening. I have also heard about taping the part of the mat that is covered by the frame so no signatures get cut off and I think we'll try that as well.

That is exactly what I did. Be careful removing the tape. ;)
I think the size is perfect!

Painter's tape was what I was going to use. But I figure I'm just covering up the part that's covered up anyway so if it gets a little torn, that's okay.

I've heard painters tape, also. I bought a mat yesterday (actually, just like the one in the photo post), 11x14 for a 5x7 photo. I'm going to make a sticker for the bottom middle with our ship's logo & cruise dates. Bought my sharpies from Walmart, too! Almost ready to go!!

Did you just get regular sharpies?

I love how helpful everyone is with all of the ideas and information!!! I am wondering how you guys travel with the photo mats... I am so afraid of it getting ruined in transit, so I would appreciate your suggestions. Thanks!!!

To pudinhd.Put the mat in a padded envelope. My husband used my son's suitcase when we went last May and there was a zipper in the bottom so I put the mat in a padded envelope
