I've searched and read many posts, but most are older and I'm hoping someone's come up with more ideas!;)

I'm a big scrapbooker and have done the book thing repeatedly, I'd like to do something different that is easily kept on display, then in a treasure box, for years to come.

I've read about the pillowcase, t-shirt, and photo mat, but they're not for me.:)

I'm leaning towards a bucket hat, sling purse, wooden purse, or wooden frame at this point.

I thought I'd start of thread though for any new ideas! There are so many talented people out here....I thought maybe you came up with something new or saw some new way of getting autographs.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!:thumbsup2

what about buying those study guide index card things that are attached buy one ring. you could then put them in a scrap book with out damaging a book! I hope you know what I am talking about??

I agree with the poster above me...stiff cards work best.

And if you want the characters to sign anything other than paper, make sure the pen works and that the surface is relativity flat.

the most creative thing I saw once was a family that had a large cardboard frame and had everyone sign it.
Don't know what picture they used but man did they have lots of signatures.

One year my daughter bought a poster will all the princesses in/around the castle (at Walmart, I think) then searched the World for autographs. It has been hanging on her wall for the last few years, she loves looking at it (autograph books just sit in a drawer some where). This year she got a wooden frame at the craft store, painted it green, with the words "Pixie Hollow" in pink, then had the Fairies sign it for her first visit to Pixie Hollow. She also had Tink sign her Tink baseball hat, which she wore the entire week. I downloaded autograph pages from the Creative DISign people, printed them on cardstock, punched a hole in the corner and put them on a ring. Now I am putting them in the scrapbook next to the pictures.

how about the white mickey vinylmation figure - you can buy it online or in the parks (I would recommend getting it online so you know you have it) and get different color sharpies and have the characters sign that - it will be cute to display and something different. I think they have a 3 inch and 9 inch - the 3 inch might be to small.

When we were at Disney a few weeks ago we were in line behind a family with two children. Each Child had one of those big Mickey hand gloves. They had the characters sign the glove. It actually looked really cute and I was thinking you could put it in one of those display boxes and hang it on the wall. Just a thought.

I am always looking for something new to get signed..we go too much to keep accumuating paper autographs. So I have done denim squares made into a quilt, done the photo mat thing several times...still haven't used them, recently got ordered a Chef's Coat and took it to Chef Mickey's to have them sign. I also took a large embroidery hoop to stretch the area they were going to sign to keep it tight and make easier for them. I also posted about ideas and one person even suggested that I skip it..so I thought what is something that I would like to look at everyday?

I came up with large letters. You could spell anything you want with them. I am spelling DISNEY, but you could do your last name, child's name whatever you want. I got them at JoAnn's Fabrics they have wood and paper mache. I am using paper mache covered with paper to make them the colors I want (red, white, black) My plan is to take one letter per day to whatever park we are going to. On the back of the letter I will write the date we took it and to what park...

Sorry so long but thought it might help...

A neighbor of ours gave DS a homemade music box with It's a Small World as the song when you lift the lid. I'm sure you could buy a premade wooden box at a craft store and take Sharpies or paint pens and then put a clear coat to protect the autographs when you get home. If you wanted to add the music you could buy the litttle insert and add it. Also the box could store a mini album with photos from your trip.

I'm loving these ideas!:) Thank you!! Please continue to post so everyone can see all these original ideas.;)

PrinceCharmingsMom - you've got a bunch of great ones.:thumbsup2 Seems like you are a girl after my own heart. BTW, any ideas where I could find a Chef's hat reasonably? I love the Chef Mickey's idea!

Boy, here I thought we'd settled on the purse idea...now I have to go back and think some more.:rotfl:

There is some one here on the DIS whose daughters carried around large messenger bags that everyone signed. She posted some pictures here and they looked great!!

I've never collect signatures because I don't like having things that just sit in the house (I also don't have children). For instance I don't keep photo albums... all my pictures on on a computer or framed and hanging on the wall.

Anyway, here are some ideas on things the characters could sign:

frisbee
dog collar and leash (this creepy if you don't own a dog!)
a throw pillow
some blank christmas ornaments (get some wooden ones at the crafts store... could do one siggie on each side)
an old yearbook (love this idea! I might do this with an old year book.)
stuffed animal
apron
a tapestry to hang on the wall
cookbook (ask each character what their favorite food/recipe is)
Disney guide book
large vase
placemats
hockey stick or other sports equipment.... football helmet?
sneakers
jeans (or any article of clothing)
mousepad
a poster of Cinderella's castle or other Disney icon (picture of Walt maybe?)
map of Disney World
map of Earth or globe (have each character sign in the area of where they are from.... where would Tink sign!?)
coffee mug
salad/popcorn bowl
laptop or laptop skin
ball (football, soccer ball, basket ball, dodge ball....)
dog sweater
One of my favorite ideas is to bring in the DVD cases (or you could just remove the artwork from the cases) and have each character sign their own movie.

OK, that's enough brain storming for one night. Maybe you could sit down with your family and have a brainstorming session. It would get everyone involved and excited about the trip!

We were in DW in June for my niece's 9th B-day. As one of her gifts I gave her a white baseball hat and Sharpie markers for the characters to sign. I gave it to her the weekend before we left--she kind of looked disappointed. Once we were there and the characters started signing it--she loved it.

Someone else posted the hat suggestion--so I can't take the credit. The characters are not allowed to sign anything you are wearing. We found a little piece of cardboard to support the inside of the hat to make it easier for the characters to write on. Someone else also suggested using fabric markers instead of Sharpies. The Sharpies did seem to bleed a little.

I ordered mine for that famous auction site and got a hat, apron and chef coat w/ name embroidery for $18.00. It was in a set and it was from someone who sells those for kids all the time..They can even customize your buttons on the coat...Really cute and great quality.

Here's a suggestion/question-lol. Could you bring plain white index cards and then scan them to create iron-on transfers from your computer?

If so I might do that-lol!

You could also make your own autograph book if you are the creative type. This actually increases the character interaction.

On our last trip, we were in line to meet Aladdin and Jasmine. The kid in front of us pulled out the Aladdin DVD, and had the autograph the case and actual disc. I thought that was really cool! :goodvibes

I have two ideas.

One, Disney sells now these funny things where different artists have taken a blank Mickey Mouse statue (about a foot tall maybe?) and painted it to look like something else. They call it Urban Mickey I think. Well, they also sell plain white ones that you can write on with a Sharpie or paint however you want, and the Art of Disney shop on Main Street had an example of one covered with autographs.

Two, the characters won't sign things people are wearing, but we saw a couple kids wearing plain white cotton baseball caps that they would take off and have signed, and then they also kept the sun out of their eyes the rest of the trip.

For my daughter's last two trips, I used a plain white pillowcase and painted a Mickey head and her name on it. Then had the characters to autograph it. She got alot of attention from the characters.

so i am taking my 9 month old niece for her first trip to Disney in December.. and i will be taking one of her white onesies and putting something like Baby's First Disney Trip on the front and then having all the characters sign it!! but i do like the idea of the poster you can put on the wall.. or the mickey vinylmation.

I purchased a canvas tote bag for my DD to have autographed a couple of years ago. I had some sponge letters and used acrylic paint to stamp her name. I then outlined her name with gold glitter fabric paint.
We put a thick, extra sturdy piece of cardboard on the inside to keep it stiff for the characters to sign. We kept it in a shopping bag while in our backpack to prevent it from getting dirty.
I used several different colors of permanent markers (we coordinated the colors with the characters). It turned out really cute and she got a tons of comments about it.
I post pictures this afternoon (sorry, but I have to get to work...);)
