Of course, I've seen kids carrying these around for meeting characters and I've been encouraged to get some for my own girls, but I can't help but wonder where. I've checked Target, Walmart, Hallmark, and assorted independant gift stores, but nobody carries autograph books. Are these items that are only available in the parks? I really would like to have them before we leave.

I looked around last year for autograph books but finally gave up. The WDW books are available throughout the World-we picked ours up in the gift shop at our resort. If you are flying into MCO you can pick them up at the Disney shop there at the airport.:D

I recently purchased 2 brand new official WDW autograph books on ebay. Link to item on ebay The seller was excellent - she went out of her way to make sure the books arrived in time for Easter. My kids got them in their Easter baskets for our upcoming trip. They are $7.50 each plus shipping ($2.50 for the 1st book - $0.75 for each additional).

What? Last time I looked, the autograph books were only $5.50 at WDW! Sounds like you paid too much.

I just made us a homemade autograph book for our last trip by purchasing a small scrapbook/memory book at Michaels Crafts. I think it cost less than $4.00 and I decorated the cover with Disney stickers. It worked great!

Found them at Wal-mart, with a picture of Mickey mouse. The characters autographed one page, and then we left the next blank. When we got the pictures developed, I added them next to the autograph. It worked really well. You do have to use a sharpie marker on the slick pages, and hold it open for a few seconds to make sure the ink does not smear.

We made ours as well with Memory Books from Micheals. I printed out a picture of Sorcerer Mickey making a pencil move and put our kids' names under it and that went on the cover. Then each page inside has a picture of a character and that is where they sign. The back of the previous page is blank for adding photo of kids with character. It is more personal and DD loves showing the one from last year off to people. The characters also love seeing their picture in the corner of the page they sign. Last year Eeyore drew a cloud and rain coming down on his little clipart. Total cost is a little more than the book you get at WDW but it is more personal and not just like everyone else's. Plus it is a lot of fun to make.

Considering that these are only available on property, a $2 markup is a more than reasonable "fee" to pay to get them in Massachusetts. If you can wait until you arrive then fine - save the money. But if you want/need them before your trip, this is a pretty good deal. You can get them from giftsofalifetime for $7 but their shipping charges are outrageous ($9 if I recall correctly)

My kids were hoping that the Easter Bunny would bring them autograph books. And being the nice Bunny that he is, he complied ;)

I found an inexpensive plain 4x6 photo album at our local discount store for $2, bought plain index cards and printed out stickers on my computer for each signature. (I had a CD-Rom that I used to print iron-on transfers for t-shirts with Disney characters). The back of the sleeve will be for the picture with the character.

All,

Just want to remind all to put the name and address on the inside cover of the book. This will be very helpful if your child looses or misplaces the book. Disney has been known to mail these "found" items.

We went to WDW in 2001,2002,and we are going thius year and getting season passes while whe are there. You can find the autograph books in all the parks, most of them are at Magic Kingdom.

Yes they are only at WDW. I kow you can get on Gifts of a lifetime and have them sent but they don't even carry them at the Disney Store!

Not only does having your name and address on the autograph books help if they get lost, but I have seen the characters look to see what the name is so they can write a personalized message to the book's owner! This happened with my niece in Disneyland...she was pleasantly surprised that the Princesses knew her name...and spelled it right!

My daughter received an autograph book for her birthday last year. Since it says "Girl Scout Friends" (or something like that), I'm pretty sure it was bought at our council store.

For our upcoming trip, I bought my girls small (3x5 ?) 100 page autograph books at Big Lots for .99 cents. The girls wanted colored paper instead of the white inserts, so they cut them themselves. I've also seen these little books at the dollar store.

I've seen books like this in lots of places. They just don't SAY "autographs" on the front.

If you have a store called Big Lots near you I know they carry some. If anyone is in desperate need of one I would be willing to pick some up.

I made autograph books for my kids last year using the small inexpensive 4x6 photo albums. My intention was to use index cards for the characters to sign, then slip them into one page and put a photo of the character with my kids on the opposite page...BUT, the index card idea was a bit of a pain. We fumbled quite a bit with them. The photo album itself was not very sturdy and difficult for the characters to write on, even though I had added some cardboard into the cover.

SO...this time I'm going to use those sturdy spiral bound mini-scrapbooks from Michaels and not worry about how to insert pictures. The homemade personalized books were a hit with some of the characters too.
