We are leaving for Disney in about one week:dance3: I have made my first autograph books for the kids using the awesome designs from this thread, thank you thank you:worship::worship:
My question, what to use for the signatures, a marker, sharpie, plain pen?? What works best for the characters??
TIA:love:

Yes - do Sharpie markers - not the very thin ones, but the thick ones work very well. Characters can not hold very thin pens, The fatter the better. The Sharpie markers do not bleed through the WDW autograph books. ;)

Any color you like is fine.

I made our autograph book out of card stock 4" by 6 " paper.
I added character stickers for the character to sign - TS places with the known characters who show up.
I also have extra pages in the "book" for other characters we find to sign.

I used card stock so after our WDW vacation, I can place the signatures in our scrapbook. I punched one hole in the left top corner and attached a ribbon through the hole to hold the "pages" together.

I cut the cover of the autograph book from a plastic folder and added some stickers. To make the back sturdy, I used a thick piece of cardbaord and covered it with disney themed wrapping paper.

The homemade autograph book did cost me more than the standard WDW autograph books (about $7) - but our home made one will do better in our scrap book.:goodvibes

Have fun getting autographs !
It's one of the fun things to do at WDW.

We found the retractable Sharpies worked well. Then you don't have to worry about lost caps. ;)

I highly recommend the retractable sharpie pens. They work wonderful - they're thick enough for the characters to hold, and they make a dark enough signature without bleeding through the page. we've used it on 2 trips now and just love them!!!

I think a regular ballpoint ink pen is too thin and not dark enough to make a nice autograph. A regular thick point sharpie pen is too thick and it bleeds through to the back of the paper if you press down too hard.

Another vote for retractable Sharpies. My little guy always wrtes on his shirt (accidentally) while waiting to see the characters. With these we were able to tell him the rule is you can't click it until you are walking up to see the character.

My only suggestion is to beware of sharpie marks on your clothes. If you look at the characters hands you will see lots of sharpie marks on them. We had several characters that wanted to hug us and take pictures before returning the pen and we ended up with several t-shirts with sharpie swipes on them. Not as big of a deal as the EXPENSIVE bibbity bobbity boo cinderella dress that a character marked. Try getting your hugs and pictures in before you give them a pen.

I still think sharpies are great...I just like to warn everyone.

According to me if you want to make just autograph then ink pen would be best for you because it has amazing power to write in the best curvature hand writing and thats why I always use ink pen for that.
