We got my daughter one of these last year and she probably filled a quarter of it. I was wondering if I should take the same book back and ask them to write the year, or just get a new one each year we go.

What do you do when you go? New or old?princess:

In my opinion, getting a new book every year would be easier than asking every character you meet to write the year each time. If you are trying to save money, you could continue in the same autograph book. Then, on the page following the last autograph from your last trip, you could write 2008 in big font and let the characters start signing after that page. :)

We have ended up using a new book each time; mainly because the previous ones end up buried somewhere in the house and cannot be found.

This last time we used small photo albums that we are going to then be able to add the pictures that got taken with the characters, as well as other pictures and each boy will have a complete commemorative album of the trip.

I am making my daughter a scrapbook autograph book. it is 8x8 and I will add pictures of her with the character along with there autograph. We will just at the park for 5 days and we got about 20. We could have gotten about 5 more but forgot

I just looked through her book and it looks like we will be getting a new one. She has more in there than I thought and only has 2 openings left. She loves to look at it and talk about it so having 2 I am sure will be even more fun for her now.

Thanks for all your tips!!! Ruthie T I would love to see the scrapbook you are going to make.

I like the Disney autograph books that have a picture slot on one side of a 2 page spread and the autograph slot on the other. Take the pic, get the autograph and once you get prints you have an instant scrapbook. I am not a scrapbooker so I like knowing that this is simple and complete. My kids LOVE looking at them so much I had to put them up on a high shelf to limit wear and tear.

Love your photo album ideas!!

This year we found autograph books at Disney Character Warehouse for really cheap!! They were a year or 2 old (I think 50th anniversary commemorative books), but my kids didn't care. We always get new ones for each trip!;)

We bought a new book the first year we went. It never ended up with many autographs because she didn't really care to wait in line that much. Instead it turned into a doodle pad when she was sitting in her stroller. Not your typical autograph book but it will have some fun memories for her when she's older. We did ocassionally add an autograph over the years.

This last year I did buy one of the smaller books that also has a slot for their photo. I loved it! I think there were like 12 pages which made it perfect and did not require too much standing in line. We made it a mission to finish the book THIS YEAR. The small book was certainly the best method for us.

We are leaving for DL on Monday!:cool1: We were just at WDW in May so I am using the same autograph book for my dd. I just can't see buying another. The pen still has the price tag of $3.95 so I am sure the book was just as much if not more. You had to pay for each one individually. So I would rather spend that little extra on something else!:)

we use the same book until it is filled. for each trip i write the month and year of that particular trip on the bottom of each page where there is an autograph.

We did the photo/autograph book last year and between the two character meals ended up filling it up! My daughter loves it and enjoys looking at it. I will definitely get another one this year, however I will probably hold off getting one for my son until he really starts enjoying the characters, he just turned 3 and he's still too shy.

We have used the same autograph books for the past 3 or 4 disney trips. I just write the month and year on a new page and have the characters sign after that page. I made the books so there are probably a lot more pages than the ones disney sells. I went to the local craft store and bought blank scrap booking books (8x6 size). The covers are made of very thick cardboard material and the pages are about as thick as cardstock paper. They are spiral bound and they come in different colors on the covers. I then decorated the covers with my children's names and disney stickers and such then coated the tops with hodge podge (glue like substance that dries clear and keeps the stickers from peeling off). We have had these same books since a trip to WDW in 2004.

We bought our autograph books at the DL hotel and filled it up during our 3 day trip. It has the spot for the picture on one page and signature on the facing page and only holds about 15 signatures.

Each daughter had their own book and while they looked the same on the outside, the pages inside one were a lot darker. You couldn't see the signatures so I had to trace them with a black marker. Next time I'll try to get something with white pages inside.

If all her 2007 signatures are at the front of the book, could you write 2008 on a page and have the characters start signeing after that page this trip so you would know where the new signatures start. That way the characters don't have to write 2008, but you can keep the pages seperated. It is really all up to you whether you want to spend the money to buy a new book or use that one up.

just like the idea i posted earlier! :)

Tip to all: If you want a character to sign a specific page in your book, you better well have it open and ready to that page whe you're asking for their autograph. If you don't, then consider it as yourself giving them permission to open it up to whatever page they want to and signing that.

The cutest thing that I ever heard of doing with the autographs came from my niece when she was little she was a little intimidated by the charecters (well except Alladin who she has a crush on and after her meeting him told her Mom "That is the guy they made the movie about"), so she asked her Mom if she could have the cast member outside a ride sign her book. So her Mom helped her start a new tradition and for years she went with her book and had cast members sign her book. She had a blast with it and so many of the Cm's just loved it.

She is almost 15 now and wow she is so cool, and though she still blushes if someone mentions Alladin she still remembers her autograoh book fondly.

I did this as well, though my first albums (2006) were 7x7; we had so many autographs that I decided to use ONE PAGE per character (to include both photo and autograph.) This didn't work terribly well, as either the photo or autograph (or both!) had to be trimmed to fit, and there was little room if any to embellish.

I'd suggest either using a bigger album, or putting each autograph and each photo on a page by itself. Live and learn! :rotfl:
