Help!!

I really need a little creative guidance here. On our recent trip to WDW at the end of May, we purchased autograph books. The problem is we got caught in one of the many thunderstorms that occurred during that week. We got drenched! as well as our autograph books. By the time we realized how wet they had gotten, it was too late. The damage was done.

So, anyway, I told the kiddies not to worry. When we got back I would download the character signatures and print them out along with the pictures of them with the characters. What I want to do is use the super cool autograph pages that I have found here on the disboards and print out the characters signatures on one side and the picture of the kids with the character on the other page along with the coordinating border around the picture.

Does this make any sense to anyone?? I thought that I had seen a thread addressing this sort of project at one time, but I can't find it for the life of me. Any ideas how to accomplish this?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!!

Also, I don't have photoshop. Would I need some type of special software to accomplish this?? Thanks!

You would need some type of software to do this. If you have Office you can do this in Publisher and may be able to do it in Word. Publisher would be one of the easier programs to do this in. Photoshop Elements could do it (and A LOT more) but costs around $85. It also has a bit of a learning curve. If you do go the PSE route I'd be happy to provide a template you could use to get started. I think Publisher is about the same $$ wise and would make it easier to change things like borders, graphics etc.

Here's what I'd do.

Download a set of autograph book pages that someone has already created (you can download mine via my website - link in my sig).

Print them out - you shouldn't need any special software just print the images on your printer.

Go to: http://home.att.net/~disneysue/characters/wdw/disneycharacters.html where the owner has scanned in each of the signatures - use this to sign the pages yourself (while the kids are sleeping you can pretend to be all the characters!)

Grab a photo album and slip the kid's pic in one side of a page with the signed page on the other side.

hey presto!

We lost our autograph book for 2 days while on our trip in March. (:worship: to the DISigners and their autograph cards)
When we got it back, DD kept asking to go back to the characters that we saw that didn't sign their pictures. I told her that if we saw them, we would stop and get them to sign otherwise when we got home, mommy would take the pictures and mail them to a special address and the characters would sign them and mail them back to her.
When we got back, we sat down and pulled the pictures out of the photobook that needed to be signed, wrote a nice letter and we addressed an envelope and I told the kids I would put in the the mail in the morning. I then did what the PP recommended and looked up the character autographs and signed them myself.
For the kids in the meantime, I printed all the pictures of kids and characters and we put together a new photobook (2 pictures per page) We put the autograph in the top slot and the photo of the greeting in the bottom. We did it alphabetically.
A few days after we had the new book together, an envelope address to the kids showed up in the mail. They were so excited. I had put in with the autograph cards a letter from Mickey saying how much he missed them and couldn't wait for them to come back. I also put in a copy of our photo taken with Mickey. The look on their faces was priceless.

Thanks for the replies! I never even thought of signing them myself. I love the idea of them getting a letter from Mickey himself. You guys are so smart!

BTW, I decided to download a trial version of PSE just to see if it was something I might be interested in. OMGosh!! I have a whole new respect for you people! I have always marveled at the creativity of so many on these boards, but I couldn't believe how incredibly complicated the program seemed. I don't think I'll be able to get much out of it unless I somehow find a lot more free time to study up on it.

Thanks again!
