Hi there, I know someone on here will be able to help me ;). We have rented points out to stay at BLT in November 2012 very very excited:thumbsup2. I was just wanting any advice on what level room etc to request as we have booked a one bedroom standard view. I have no idea what a standard view is:confused3. I know it won't be as good as a magic kingdom view or bay view but thought maybe some standard rooms might be better than others:confused3. So as I live so far away I know my disboards friends might help me out. I love planning its half the fun even if we have to wait another 11mths ......:surfweb:Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated:flower3:

The standard view rooms are on the lower floors, and have views of the Contemporary and parking lot for the most part. I think some of them may go as high as the fifth floor, where the skybridge is to the Contemporary. If I booked a standard view, I would probably request to be on the fifth floor and see what happens. That would make it super convenient for going back and forth to the shops and monorail.

We have discovered requests for standard view is pretty much worthless as there are so few standard view villas.

Last time we checked in our SV one bedroom was the only changing over that day :scared1:

Yikes Elise!!! Do you mind me asking what time of the month you went in November. We are looking at the first two weeks as I thought these would be less crowded than the end of the mth when you guys celebrate thanks giving????

We were there at the beginning of the month - we have had 4 stays standard view and never had a choice of rooms however we have been very lucky with some of the rooms we have been assigned.

Standard view is only 10% of the resort which is about 15 studios and 15 on bedrooms which are all lock offs and then I am not sure about how many dedicated 2 bedrooms there are. I am sure some days of the week you have more units turning over but my guess is it is never that many.

BTW I am English so we try to avoid the American holidays! ;)

why were you lucky with some of the rooms? Did you manage to get an up grade? I found a map the other day and it looks like some of the standard rooms face the bay its just that they are on the lower levels? I thought I would request a north room facing the bay if possible. Can't hurt to ask can it? Sorry I thought you were American I didn't read that you were English. Yes we try to travel outside of our holidays and the American holidays as well!

I believe it's better to ask than not to ask. If you don't ask, then you never know what you might have received. If you do ask, and they can't fulfill your request, at least you know you tried.

It can sometimes be busy at the very beginning of November, because they typically have the last Halloween party at MK on November first and the first Christmas party about a week later. So, depending on your travel dates, it's possible to see both during one trip. Also, there is usually a long weekend for Veteran's Day around the middle of the month (it was on the 11th this year) so people either visit for the weekend, or take a week because they will only have to use four vacation days instead of five. The beginning of the month is less busy than Thanksgiving though. If I were going for a week in November, I would probably pick the week before Thanksgiving week (for example, this year I would have chosen the 13th through the 19th instead of the 20th to the 26th which contained the holiday).

Thanks fla4fun! we have booked for the first week at BLT and thinking of booking the second wk in November at AKL. Since we are going to be on a plane for 24hrs with three kids.....eeeeek we thought a minium two weeks is what we will need. We were going to go in December but thought that it may of been to cold to use the pools. Oh well fingers crossed its not to busy.....when we went last year in mid sept to early oct the crowds were very low. It was lovely....but then the humidty was not so lovely. I really hope this time we don't get as much humidty more than anything. Everyone kept saying to us "but your from Australia its hot over there". Yes at times it is hot but where we live the humidty gets to around 54% in summer, its a dry heat. Like you said I should just ask what have I got to lose, its disney no matter what its going to be fun YAY!

We have stayed in SV rooms and my only request is not to be on the 1st floor. But, we have been on the inside both times--once 3rd floor, and once 2nd floor.

However, if you want to have a partial view of the MK, I might request "even #'d room". That will put you on the outer C and may even get a chance to view fireworks from the balcony.

Good luck! Its a wonderful resort--our favorite!!

Twice we have had the second floor rooms below the MK view rooms. It is a great view.

We have also had inside room and a side room. We love the location and as long as I am not on the first floor I don't care!

Here are my two cents!!!

I own at BLT and it is a great resort. However, the level of room v. point value is terrible. We almost always end up staying at AK, Kidani. For the same number of points we get a savanna view and oftentimes a two bedroom v. one bedroom. I am not sure of the ages of your children, but older children might like to have their own beds. The two bedroom (dedicated) will get you a king, 2 queens and a sleeper sofa, plus 3 bathrooms. At AK Kidani, the we have found that the savanna views are almost always available at the 7 month window.

Since you are already planning on doing a split stay you might look into that. Although it is nice to see two different resorts changing midway through a vacation can be a pain.

If you are not planning on being in the room very often than the standard view at BLT will be fine. Again, it is somewhat hit or miss on what you will get.

Since you are renting, you do know that any requests you would like to make, must be made by the member you rented from.
