Aussie Disneyland Planners come on in and lets plan together :)

becpee - I have 2 of those, one is 3 and the other 4. I have been threatening to leave them home with grandma. I am dreading the plane trip as all they do is fight.

We were buying bags of hotdog rolls instead of bread. We always laughed as the rolls were pre-cut. One thing that I do wish we could get here is the bags of peeled baby carrots. They are great for a healthy snack.

I work as a baker and it was very hard to get a sandwich loaf had to settle for grain blend hitop which was nice, but nothing compared to what we have here, their bread is alot more heavier then ours with so many different types of grain blends rye etc. But you can not beat the peanut butter and jelly need to get so more. I dislike the tatse of the chocolate is was not sweet enough for us and the sour lollies yuk. And the pizza shop down the road from Disneyland on the corner ordered a medium and it was so big and the taste mmmm.

yeah the bread is generally much sweeter in the US that is for sure.

The Las Vegas Premium Outlets are unbelievable, real bargain, just allow enough time to have a look around. But we even go super bargains in the stores at Caesars palace, don't discount the regular stores, and especially Macys. Calvin Klein stores had stock at 50 - 75% of the tag price, so for example the jeans were $68 and then either 50 or 75% off. Which was unreal. Macys give you a visitors discount card of 11% off, and they have many racks of between 25 and 75% off as well.

Whole foods is great, you can actually get dinner there. This applies to many of the regular supermarkets as well. Try to go to a Supercenter Wal-mart, unbelievable, I could spend a day there.

Denny's is great for what it is. I mean I have tried to find a place that serves a half decent breakfast in Melbourne, and am yet to find anything that can even match a dennys. And I have paid $15 - 20 for a breakfast. Dennys gives you 3 pancakes (10 times better than you will find at pancake parlour here), bacon, eggs, toast, hash brown for $6.99 and endless coffee for $2. :thumbsup2

Already feeling depressed about being back. ::sad1::sad1:

Although the high aussie dollar has me thinking I should convert some now for future trip!!!

I gotta say there were alot of aussies at disney as it was school holidays. We usually don't travel during school holidays and I don't think we will again.
We were in Target and heard a woman next to us yell "Sheryll. Your brother is an idiot. I will stick Disneyland up your ar@e if you keep going." in a really strong aussie accent. I really don't like the sound of our accents sometimes, even when I listen to myself talk ! I had to start pronouncing my A's differently as they kept righting it down as an 'I'. !!

mmmmmm....Dennys.....mmmmm :worship:
(my parents like getting the "seniors" rate discounts :lmao: )

As for the bogan...I'll take that over MANY other parents.
Imagine child at one end of store....parent at the other.
Ashley....Ashley...Ashley.....ASHley.....ASHley.....ASHLEY....ASHLEY....

GO OVER AND PICK THE CHILD UP or grab their hand and march them out of there....

They also like to NEGOTIATE with children. You can't negotiate with terrorists....or children.

just over 2 weeks here - so excited.

My phone and internet connection died so I have to use mums, the upside to that is I've got through quite a bit of sewing - the skirts of the girls costumes should be finished tonight :) or at the latest tomorrow morning :cool1:

I went out today and picked up my soda ash and squeezy bottles to do some tiedying for the adult hippy costumes :hippie: so will do that this weekend :wizard:

Thanks for the HOJO kids suite review - we live next to the motorway and also on a busy road so hopefully the noise isn't too much for us, we ignore it at home so should be able to do it while we are away. I can sleep with the tv going anyway - or my ipod. The girls generally sleep through most things (except the courier man it seems).

Not much else to say....I miss being able to get my disboards fix whenever I choose though. Can't wait for my internet to be fixed..don't care about my phone line hehe.

hey flea, if noise isn't an issue then you will be fine with hojo. Oh, we had the top floor which means you get lots of light in the morning and it isn't super dark at night, so if this might be an issue don't get the top floor.

the halloween decorations are really great.

oh, another tip, if you plan on getting photopass photos done, be sure to check them before you leave at Disney itself, even if you order the photos online. We had the same card all trip but when we checked it, somehow one of the photographers had switched cards and the one we had only had 4 photos on it! we had to search using the dates to find the other photos so it turned out alright. If you order online you get to modify the photos and add frames etc which makes it worthwhile rather than paying for a certain number of photos. But I am sure you guys have already looked into this.

Thanks for that. I''m sure we will enjoy ourselves no matter where we stay.

Good tip about the photopass, we are hoping to utilise ours to the fullest since there are 7 people in our travel party. It also means that I can be in some photos as I'm designated photographer for the trip. I read somewhere to take a photo of your photopass card in case it gets lost - so I will remember to do this.

that's a good idea to take a photo of it, I think we will also mark ours with a sharpie so we can be sure it is the same one always handed back.

I am so jealous of every one getting so close to their trips.
All year I knew if I could get to the end of term 3 that the next few months woud fly by. So here I am at the end of term 3:banana::banana:
I am flying to Melbourne today with my daughter (14) for the Australian cheerleading championship:cheer2:
She has been looking forward to this for so long. I am hoping for some of thispixiedust: They won grand champions last year, so she is hoping for another good result.
Her dream is to receive a cheerleading scholarship to the US which would mean more trips to Disney:woohoo:
I am very excited and it has helped to break up the long wait till our holiday at the end of the year.

So I won't be on the boards for a while. :sad2:

We did that last year in WDW. We also ended up with more than one card but their is no problems loading multiple cards onto your account. It was great to have photos of the whole family:thumbsup2
Another tip, the photopass photographer they will take photos with your own camera as well

Goodluck for your DD :tink: :cheer2:

Big thanks to jacs1234 for the Legoland coupons. DH will be so pleased to have a non-disney day!

It's a pleasure. I wouldn't have hated to see them not get used. Glad to help a fellow Brisbanite out.

We still have one "buy an adult get child in for free" legoland ticket if anyone wants it.

Well hello everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am checking in from San Fran. We are up to day 4 and are having a great time. Hollywood was great, enjoyed the limo tour of the stars homes and loved the Disney Soda Fountain store, so sweet. Had an absolute ball at Universal Studios. Checked out Santa Monica and Venice Beach (that place is an eye opener, haha), travelled on a public bus to get to Santa Monica, that was hell on earth, we are just not public transport peeps I've discovered. Flew to San Fran today. DH and DS went to the Baseball, so far their trip highlight. Alcatraz tomorrow and then shopshopshopping.

We still have Vegas, New York and Disneyland to come. Was missing you all so thought I would check in.

Have found that noone can bloody understand a word we are saying and my DH says we sound like we are out of an episode of Cath and Kim :rotfl2:. We've never thought we spoke very "occa" but we can hear it over hear most definitely. Very scary. I'm trying to use a posh aussie accent but it's not working :lmao:

The tipping thing is doing my head in a little. I feel like all I do is shell out money but I am slowly getting the hang of it.

Our flight over with Delta Airlines was great, service was amazing, seats were fairly roomy but none of us ended up sleeping which made the first day a long one since we flew into LA at 6am their time. Customs was okay, except the hostesses gave everyone on the flight the wrong cards to fill out so there was mass hysteria trying to rewrite them in the corridor at customs.

OUr limo tranfers have been awesome. Great companies so far.

The food has been mostly great, although my son is existing on not much food as he is picky anyway and doesn't like much that he comes across. It could explain his grumpy behaviour too :rotfl:.

Anyway, thought I would check in and say hi.

Good to hear you are back Marvel. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Have taken tons of photos, none of them world class, but all of them memorable. Chat soon

If anyone has any questions about anything, fire away, I am not sure when I will get any type of trip report done.

Other than goofy's kitchen, we found the food fantastic almost everywhere we ate

I LOVED Goofy's kitchen last year. loved loved loved it. What didn't you like. I think I liked it so much because I went in with really low expectations. KWIM?

My husband was very impressed with your corner of the world! He met so many people and everyone was so genuine, so lovely...he can't wait until we can make it down there as a family.

So glad your hubby had a great time. Australia is an awesome place, well worth a family visit. No Disney here though, that's it's only problem :)

We went to Disney last year and by the end of the 10 days we were craving vegetables, we ordered a pot roast with vegies but the vegies just weren't the same. Boiled celery isn't really my style :)

No leaving my kids at home Going with my Aunt and a friend - cant wait!!

So i have to try this CPK??

I dont think 2.5weeks will be long enough..

Oh turn that frown upside down :rotfl: You'll take the kids next year. Just think of this trip as going ahead to learn the ropes so your family will be more comfortable on their trip :)

You should have joined us weeks ago. :)

Already feeling depressed about being back.

It's such a low isn't it. Atleast you've got another trip to plan.

Great tips about the photopasses. I'll be sure to take a pic of mine and to check it before we leave. Last year after we got home I logged on and made a photo book out of our photos, our own pics and the photopass pics. It cost about $60 and it was so worth it.

shopshopshopping.
Oh I like that part :) I can't wait to see your pics and for you to update after Disney. I'm glad you're having a good time. Last year my 6 year old son took a few days to find his happy. He was miserable the first few days at Disney and we were like "Gee kid, you're at disneyland, cheer up"

Nice to hear from you :)
Hope the weather is treating you well. Don't forget to visit those seals at fisherman's wharf :lmao: they are hilarious.

You definitely must have a different accent to me...they always take me for being English. The only problem is we speak to fast....not so much the accent. Apparantly they don't watch Gilmore Girls. That is my speaking speed:thumbsup2

Anyway!!
Have a blast and I'm sure your grump will cheer up soon.:wizard:
