Traveling to Aulani in September 2016. Our dates were just released within the last week, and it looks to be about $1015 per person round trip from Buffalo by way of Atlanta on Delta. This is for standard economy, with one layover. The cheaper flights have two layovers. Does this price sound about right or is it on the higher side? Would we gain anything by waiting until January/February to book or is that too much of a gamble? Clueless when it comes to cross-country flights so appreciate any advice! Thanks!

No one should ever buy tickets for travel 10/11 months away unless its a deal or a price glitch the airline is having (yours is not a deal). My advice, September is not a particularly busy month for travel. Wait until next year January/February when every airline has its schedule out and then compare prices. I've seen BUF->MCO for under $100 one way.

Thanks for the insight. BUF to MCO for under $100 one way is pretty common, but I have no idea what would be common for flights to Honolulu. On a related note, it looks like flights from Toronto to Honolulu are about $750 per person round trip, so a decent savings. It would be a hassle for us to fly out of Toronto, but if that's a good deal for a flight from the east coast, maybe I'll keep an eye on that then!

Suggest you go to Kayak.com and set up an alert for the dates you are interested in going. Watch the prices for a while (no rush to purchase right now) so you get a feel for what the prices are. Once you do that you'll be better able to spot a good deal if it pops up.

BTW, that flight from ATL>HNL is a long one! Its 10+ hours. Bring lots of stuff to keep you entertained.

Ah my apologies, didn't even know disney had a resort in Hawaii. Go figure. With that said, your options are limited for east coast flights to Honolulu but I'm certain you can still beat that $1100 price, especially if you construe tickets via LAX.

OKW save your sarcasm for someone who cares. That's whats wrong with this board. Multiple topics on the first page about the same thing with Southwest (be that boarding, ebci, boarding everyone with family boarding)...where's your sarcastic wit then?

I didn't get the sense that Jeff was being sarcastic. I think he may have meant to say that the flight from ATL>HON is 10 hours, not from ATL>MCO.

Well if he mixed up the airport codes for Honolulu, then I apologize.

I have no problem with people letting me know I made a mistake as nkereina pointed out that she meant Hawaii and I was thinking Orlando, but when he mistakenly put "ATL->MCO and 10+ hours", it made it seem like subtle backhanded jab.

So once again apologies to nkereina for the initial mix-up and apologies to Okw lover for the ensuing confusion. :grouphug:

Yes Laurie, you are correct that I inserted the wrong airport code. I've since gone back and edited the post so as not to confuse others.

Understandable.

No apologies necessary! Easy mistake to make, since most of this board is about flights to MCO. I threw a curve ball inquiring about flights to Hawaii!

Thank you both @Yellowjj and @OKW Lover for the insight on not needing to jump at the first fares I see. Thinking I'll wait to see if flight prices drop, since it does seem $1000 is high even coming from the east coast. Appreciate the replies!
