I just received an email from DVC indicating that members could add on at Aulani for 50 pts. at $114. Anyone else receive this email? I was expecting the minimum add on to be higher, 160 perhaps. I think 160 is the amount required to be a founding member.

We received the email too. I saw on another thread that some people are adding on 50 points. I haven't heard what the minimum buy in is for a new member though. Did you notice that the email stated that the base price was increasing to $120 per point effective November 1, 2010. So maybe the $114 per point price really will be a limited offer.

Got the email too. So tempted...hoping others who attended this morning's event will report back on the festivities and incentives :goodvibes

Yikes! I see the point totals are now posted on the DVC website for 2011. You probably need to add 160 points to get the kind of room you want! Looks like no separate weekday rates? Just weeks and weekends? Unlikely I will be using points there even though I love Hawaii!

There is only one rate for Aulani - the daily rate (Sun - Saturday). The weekly rate posted is the same as the daily rate * 7.

Speculation on the net is because there's no theme park. They have higher rates on the weekends at WDW resorts to balance the demand - you've got tons of people in driving distance of WDW that will get away for a short weekend. I doubt there will be many 3-day weekend trips to Hawaii since it takes so long to get there (the drive would be a real pain). :rotfl2:

Oh, thanks I missed that. Too bad, I could see staying in Waikiki for the weekend and using points for weekdays if they were lower. There is no theme park at Vero Beach and they have lower weekday rates, so I do not get the theme park connection. I get that no one would be going for just a weekend, but in Hawaii, I could easily see spending less that a week at the DVC resort and either island hopping or staying in Waikiki.

Oh evil evil thoughts........ hubby and I are so tempted!

Or $108, depending on your math skills! (mine are usually not so good, but these were small #s). :goodvibes

Ooops! Oh well! I'm on vacation in Las Vegas at the moment. I'll blame it on lack of sleep.
