Ok, so the 11 month booking window for Aulani opens up tomorrow (9/29/10). Is anybody going to be booking opening weekend?

We aren't planning on going until mid september '11, so our booking window doesn't open up for a couple of weeks yet.

No, we are deciding on Christmas Break 2011 in a studio or Summer 2012 in a 1 bedroom. Since we have an April UY Christmas would give us 2 years worth of points to use where as Summer would give us 3 years worth of points to use. I think a studio would be fine but a one bedroom would be fabulous. Just not sure is I can wait another 6 months to stay there.:confused3

You have to get the 1 bedroom!! We find when we're in Hawaii that there's tons of down time...so lounging in a living room is definitely a necessity. Plus you'll need your own washer/dryer for all those beach/pool clothes which will get dirty. AND there's a Target and Costco nearby so you'll need your kitchen to heat up some yummy local foods. Or cut up a pineapple. That's it. I vote get a 1 bedroom so you'll have somewhere to cut up your pineapple :rotfl:

Definitely getting a 1BR model. I can imagine lots of nice relaxing downtime.

We're also going to hit up Disneyland on the way by for a couple of days and HOPEFULLY get a stay at the Grand Californian.

I agree about the one bedroom. We stayed at the Marriott Beach Club at Ko Olina (thank you DVC) and while we loved the studio we had we vowed if/when we came back we'd get a one bedroom. So when we added on we did enough points to get a one bedroom every three years (about how often we think we'd like to go. Looking forward to spending a week there for our anniversary in October 2012.

Booked in for opening week in 1 bdr pool view. Cant wait

Congrats! I'm so jealous. DH and I are hoping to go late fall 2011 to celebrate our 20th anniversary, but have to wait for the 7 month window to book it ... I'm counting the days til I can call MS!

In the meantime, I have a really dumb question. How many nights are counted when you book for a week? We are hoping to stay for 8 or 9 nights, and I assume the week reservation is 6 nights/7 days, so I'll need to add single nights to the week-long reservation. We've never stayed more than a few days at any DVC resort though, so never had to inquire before now.

The "week" reservation number listed on the points chart is just so you don't have to do the math. If you booked one night, you would be there for 2 days. So if you book a week, you are there 7nights / 8 days.
