We really want to go to Aulani in June for our anniversary/my birthday. i went on today to try to book June 11-19 and the first 3 days were already gone! For every room category....I put us on the waitlist, but I am not sure what to do cause we were only waiting until June because of our anniversary otherwise we would go sooner. What are the chances of this coming through? I didn't think it would be an issue because every other month of the year including only a couple of months from now doesn't seem to be an issue.

yep....I tried too. Wanted June 11-18. I am going to try Sat. for a couple days later and see if that works. If not we will pick another time. Our anniversary is the 15th.
Didn't want to wait list because I have never done it before and I am afraid if it doesn't come through we will be stuck with no where to stay those 3 nights.

Hope someone else can help you more about the wait list thing.

Beginning in 2016, DVC reallocated the Aulani point chart and moved July and part of August into the more expensive Premier Season (click here for more details). The result is that many guests who travel in the summer months are trying to book Aulani in June when its cheaper. A one-bedroom before June 27 costs 350 points for the week; beginning July 27 through August 14 costs 434 points.

June, particularly after the first week, is a very high demand time for Aulani that can be difficult to get at 7 months out and for 2016 it is becoming far more difficult than even in prior years. The reason is that large numbers who need to travel in summer pick June, after school lets out, because, until end of June, it is lower point choice season at Aulani. Prior to 2016, end of June to mid-Aug was more costly Magic Season (Aulani has no Dream season between choice and magic) that did not have as high demand as June but still fairly high. Effective 2016, end of June to mid-Aug becomes extremely high point cost Premier season, with the result that many more summer travelers are now trying to squeeze into June even though they may have been fine with magic season in July and Aug before. Wait lists may come through, but you are in a difficult position that may not improve.

I booked a 1 bedroom for June 1-14 and had no problems. I booked the first 7 days online and then called each morning and added another day. We did prefer poolside garden view but it wasn't available for the first day when I did the reservation online so we went ocean view for the whole trip. On the last day I made the reservation, they still had garden view and ocean view completely available for the whole time.

OP: if you can be flexible, you might have better luck toward the end of the month. I had a hard time getting studios for last summer, too. I tried as early as the 18th (checking every day, online and calling), hoping for the 23rd because it was our anniversary, but it took until the 26th before I could get five days set. Even that took two different reservations in separate views.

The trip was so worth the hassles, though. Good luck.

How difficult would it be to get December 17-23 at the seven month mark in a standard 1 bedroom for 2016? It's our 25th anniversary and I'm wondering if I should rent to secure at the 11 month mark.

That is a higher DVC demand time for Aulani and standard view, including 1BRs, is often gone before 7 months out even during lower demand times at Aulani.

I am going to cancel an OV studio for the 10th and 11th tomorrow.
Can you let me know when you do this? I'm getting up in the morning to book the 14-19 and think I will put in a wait list for the 11-13 then call if it comes through to try and combine it.
Studio OV is what we are trying to get

I cannot get over this....I set my alarm and woke up to be ready for the online booking for June 14-19. Had everything ready so at 8am I just had to click continue. I clicked it and the dates were there and by the time I clicked book they were gone.....It's looking like we won't get to spend our anniversary in Hawaii :sad2:

I called last night :sad1: but keep trying; I have gotten many hard to get reservations through waitlisting and/or stalking.

::yes:: I tried this morning too.....right at 8 am ET and the 14th was gone.
I booked DS last June and had no problems.....must be the reallocating

I ended up just booking a week in May instead and got that fine. Won't be our anniversary and we leave 2 days after another trip, but at least we are booked and going!! :yay:

Good luck OP

I tried to book this morning too, set the alarm and was online before 5 am (pacific timezone). It showed available for the 1 bedroom oceanview, but then when I clicked to book it wasn't. No availability for the dates we need (for any rooms when I did more searching). Our dates are not flexible due to the kids school and then other conflicts during the summer. Too bad as I had planned Aulani for my daughter's graduation for the last several years and now it is looking like I need to look at other options. May need to rent out my points and do something non-Disney now. It is very disappointing.

Keep stalking and waitlist what you want. If people are walking their reservations, something may shake loose. Good luck. I know about being locked in by kids' schedules!

I really can't get over it. We decided we are just going to go in April instead. Due to issues with the way our vacation works and the fact that we are using Aeroplan miles for our flights we can't risk waiting too long. On the plus side we will get to go sooner!

Sorry the best date didn't work for you. But we just got back from Aulani and I can tell you first-hand that the resort is absolutely lovely. We dropped in on some very expensive Waikiki hotels and thought the Aulani experience was better. Nicer gardens and pool, better beach, less crime, fewer snobs.

I waitlisted on Thanksgiving for the night of June 25, 2016.
Add-on to existing 7 day reservation..

It cleared this morning. Waitlist automagic. Second waitlist this month. First waitlist was for VGC studio created at exactly seven months for two nights, Dec 11&12. It cleared 32 days prior..

I would waitlist Aulani, not give up hope yet.. Do two smaller waitlisted to increase your odds? But clearly you would need a Plan B if you purchase airfare....
