Aulani - 2 nights credit due to expansion

Now that we are in the beginning part of Nov. Has anyone staying in late Dec through early Feb receive any notification from Disney about getting a refund for 1-2 days worth of points? Last info I saw was that only people through mid Dec had received refunds for points. Just wondering since we will be there from 2/2/13 - 2/8/13.

DD is staying from 12/14-12/20/12 and we're getting 2 nights credit. They are supposed to stop construction for Christmas and then resume sometime in January. I would suspect that, depending on how much construction is remaining after Christmas, it will determine the possibility of credits.

We are staying 2/24-2/27 and when speaking with DVC reservations, I was told that 3 night stays will get you a $150 credit for use at the resort while 5 night stays will get you two nights credit. So, I am planning on putting my $150 towards good use at the spa or for dinners

Our stay begins on January 8th, we have not heard anything at this time. We actually booked four rooms using points. We have 3 studios for 3 nights each for family members and then for us we have a studio for 5 nights and a 1-bedroom for 5 nights. Would love for the credits especially considering it sounds like there will be construction still ongoing.

I recently spoke with member services & they told me that the major construction(most noise) will be completed by December 12th. Anybody staying after that time frame will not receive any credit. Hope that helps everyone.

I can't say for sure what DVC will do in your case. But in our case DVC was very lenient. For the reservation, we used mostly 2011 BLT points that were banked into 2012, as well as a few 2012 AKV points. We got 46 points back from our stay in September 2012, and DVC credited the 46 points as BLT points into our 2013 UY. Effectively, DVC extended the life our our points by another UY. By the way we have a February UY.

Interesting! We are staying for a week from 2/14/13 to 2/21/13, and we've received no notice of any refunding of points or money. I'll have to wait and see, I guess.

I'm not sure of the date range of the offer but I think it was for the October-December period when the construction would be more disruptive.

We were excited about the credit and hoping to use those "unexpected extra" points for a quick WDW trip in 2013 since we live in Florida and can get to Orlando in a reasonable amount of time.

I spoke with MS about this approx 1 week ago and was told that the credits only would occur thru Dec 22nd. After that it sounded like they would be stopping the construction during the holidays so that's why no reimbursement was needed and would be why you were told there wouldn't be compensation.

That's good news, so long as they are doing a good job of masking the construction sites which I would expect since this is Disney after all!

We arrived at Aulani on Friday and it is beautiful and the cast members are wonderful. I happened to login to DVC.com today and saw my returned points. Our home resorts are Aulani and VGC. We booked this trip with just Aulani points. We've done multiple add ons since we joined and have 14 different contracts (I split them to make it easier to divide with our kids and in case we ever want/need to sell). The interesting thing is the entire credit was put into our first contract which is VGC. It actually works better for us because we weren't planning to travel to Aulani again until 2014 and since the points were put onto our 2012 year, even though they were borrowed, we can bank them into 2013 and won't have a problem using them at VGC. I don't know if we could have asked to have them credited to an Aulani contract.
