We are staying at bwv on 8/16 - 8/23. This is our first time using our points. We have never been to wdw at this time of year. We were wondering what crowds will be like.

The benefit of going at that time of year is many schools are already back in session. Our first trip to Disney was in August and although it was very hot, crowds were not significant. You also still may have the benefit of the parks being open late. I know that they do change the schedule sometime in August, but I can't recall how far into the month. We used early entry, with a mid-day break, then finishing up the day in another park to avoid the hottest times of the day.

We've been going end of August for 10 years now and really like this time of year. To some it is unbearable hot, but we love it!! As the above post stated a lot of schools are back so crowds have never been a problem. The longer hours are nice. We are not early birds and don't ever get to the parks (or anywhere else) until around 11, but we stay out late almost every night. When we first joined DVC in 1991 we always would stay over labor day week-end ending our stay in September which was great with the lower points, but for the past few years my husband's schedule has changed. He is a teacher and now starts back end of August so we have been going earlier in the month. We have not seen much of a difference in the crowds, it still is not that crowded.

We have been going to WDW the first or second week of August for at least 15 yrs. The weather is very hot; however, you can always take a midday break and go back to the pool. Usually, we leave early and stay late. The It is not too crowded early morning or evening. From the third week of August forward the crowds thin even more because most of the southern schools begin their school year. Make sure to drink plenty of liquids water--not soda, it helps. Enjoy!
