August/September Disneyers...let's get in shape for our trip!!

I am going to medical weight loss clinic in Michigan. My boss has lost 50lbs through their program so I thought "why not"!!. I am 41 and need to get this under control while I still have hormones to help :)

The nurse their said that if I stick to the plan I will be 140 by the time I go to WDW. I am not very trusting but I have seen the results first hand so I might as well give it all I got.

Besides I want to feel cute again!!!

How awesome! I'm 38 and noticed that the days of losing weight quickly seem to have ended, lol. Do you mind me asking about the plan, is it a diet like hcg or medifast?

Hi Everyone! I saw this thread mentioned on the weight loss for August thread on the Famlies board, and I wanted to join in! I have lost 30 through Weight Watchers and received Lifetime in February. I would still like to drop 15 more to get to my ultimate goal. I do much better if I feel someone is watching me, so I need you guys! I know I can do this if I just stay motivated. We'll be at WDW August 20-Sept 3. Do they make diet dole whips? :rotfl:

I hope they have diet dole whips--and churros! Great job on getting to your goal with Weight Watchers! Are you still going to meetings?

I'm not doing well, and it's probably because I'm not following any type of diet or plan. I'm also not getting support at home. Dh needs to lose at least 30lbs too, but he's not interested (trying to get him on board), so he brings home milkshakes and treats for me too when he buys one for himself. Sometimes I think he likes me bigger!

Not sure what the other plans you mentioned are about. This one I have to eat 3 fruits 3 veggies 2.5 protein and 3 starches per day plus the clinics shakes or protein bars 3 times a day( this is where they make the money). There are specific weights and amounts on each food but 90% is all normal grocery store food. It actual reminds me alot of weight watchers. They did do a complete blood work up on me and made sure my doctor received the results. They also have a doctor on staff to review your progress and health. Every time I go to the clinic they take my blood pressure and review my food journal with me for any changes I may have to make

I haven't heard very good things about HCG...it kinda freaks me out to be honest. Dr. Oz did a segment on his show about it, and it didn't sound very good (not to pooh-pooh on your efforts, I just couldn't tell if you were considering going on this) I was able to find some links to the segments he did on the show: http://www.doctoroz.com/question?query=HCG+diet. It all sounds too good to be true to me!

I have been much better today than I was yesterday...but then today has been better than yesterday ever was! I got some bad family news yesterday AND I got rear-ended at a light...no joke. It was a terrible day. But today I tried to turn it around, so I worked out for 40 minutes before I came into work and hopefully will do a short walk when I get home tonight. I do think my food could be better, though. My dad is the healthy eater in the family, and he was gone last week. While he was gone, my mom went grocery shopping and (God love her) she came home with popcorn and cookies and donuts and all kinds of junky crap :( Hopefully since my dad is home now, we'll go back to the healthier stuff :)

I hope everyone else is doing just as well!!

Thank you for the link... I think if any one came near me with a needle and promised weight loss I would run screaming from the room:scared1: I don't even like taking asprin. You are very sweet to be concerned though :)

Congrats on the 40 min workout:thumbsup2 .

You're welcome :) It just strikes me as so odd, because HCG is the hormone your body produces when you're pregnant...so it just seems so counter-intuitive, lol :rotfl2: But whatever works! :)

Terrible days always send me to the fridge! I'm sorry to hear of your car accident and the bad family news

I weighed in today.....and.....not a single bit lost. I'm exactly the same right down the the .2  Not surprising, as I did not do well with my diet at all.

I WILL figure out an eating plan today. I'm tempted by the quick weight loss diets out there recently (hcg, 17 day plan etc) because my blood sugar has skyrocketed since I have put on these extra 35lbs. A random fasting test a few days ago was 273 :sad2:

I hope your day is MUCH better today!

I have been horrible today (and for NO real reason!:sad2:) I am glad that i can at least "confess" here...
I do plan on going for a walk or bike ride with my oldest...that should help!

Welcome Dystopia! Thanks for joining!

Kaiti, so sorry to hear about your bad day. Glad today is going better!

Cathy, thanks for letting us know your plan! So happy it's working!

Jen, you and I are in the same boat! My DH and I are bad influences on each other though!! I weighed myself this morning hoping for at least a small victory and I was 189.2 lbs. If you look back to my opening post, I said I was 189 back then! :headache::mad: I weigh myself often so I knew I had been up and down between 188.6 and 191ish for awhile. I'm still doing good with my 20 min./day for May (mainly walking to get the kids from bus and leaving a bit early to do a few laps around the neighbourhood) BUT it looks like I need to increase the minutes or do more hardcore exercise and also work on my eating plan!

Nyc, enjoy your ride or walk tonight! Tomorrow will be a better day!

Just curious, is anyone else Disney crazed? My DH and kids are getting so sick of me talking about it and planning everything! I "study" the park maps almost every night before bed. No joke. Do I need help? :rotfl:

Nice to know I am not alone. I check the wait times at rides on my Ipod every day.

Beautiful day here in MI. 80 degrees and sunny and all I want to do is go to bed after a long day at work. :surfweb: Such a waste of a great day.

I am definitely Disney crazed!!! My sister is sick of me talking about it. I have been obsessing over planning our days and reservations. I have made and canceled a ton of reservations over the past week!!

I did really good so far this week. Down 2 lb. One of my coworkers and I have been walking through the parking garage at lunch. It is 4 floors and the ramps really help! I have almost 15000 steps so far today!

Hope everyone is doing well!!

My son is here with me watching and is begging me to add the banana symbol.

Kaiti-Sorry to hear about your luck. Hope things are better!

Hello everyone! Would love to join this! I have read tons of things on here but recently was brave enough to begin posting. I am not very computer savvy. We have a July trip planned and also one in late Sept ending Oct 2. We are excited to visit Magic Kingdom for the 40th Anniversary Day! Ok now for why I am here! I am a mom to four children. Ages 22, 19, 18 and 6! Yes 6! I am married to an amazing man that loves me, one way he shows this love is by cooking for me! He is part Cuban and loves to cook, so much so he does all the cooking at our house. Being part Cuban he cooks things that well are not so healthy, that combined with the fact I hate to exercise is a bad combo! I used to be a cheerleader, go out dancing, and coach gymnastics. NOW, after work I am too tired to do anything which I know is due to the added weight. But I cant lose said weight unless I start moving more, it's a round and round cycle I am in. I fear going to the doctor knowing he will say my blood pressure is high and I worry about my heart. All things that would improve greatly if I would stop the bad habits. Wanna be able to handle the heat in September there better this year as well as be comfortable in the photo pass pics. I need to lose a total of 70 when its all said and done but will shoot for 30 by the time I set foot on Disney property in September. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks

Hi everyone! I decided to join in too. My weight has been an up and down battle my whole life, and I am in that half-way dieting stage... You know, where you say I need to lose weight and watch what I eat, and get half way through the day, and blow it! Or maybe I'm alone on that one!LOL. Anyways, I am a member of Weight Watchers but am have not been following the diet at all for 2-3 months. I would like to lose 30 pounds, and have been going to an express bootcamp class twice a week.... Now I need to actually watch what I eat and add two more cardio gym days to meet my goal. Anyways, thanks for listening and for sharing your encouraging weight loss stories. Good luck to everyone. I look forward to being inspired and supporting you all!

Welcome! I too could lose 70lbs (that would get me to the ultimate goal) but I'm setting my Disney goal for 30lbs. I also have a wide age range of kiddos, seven days after my oldest turned 18 I had twin girls  so my kids are 1 (x2), 5, 8, 17 & 19. Are yours all still at home? DD (turned 19 in April) says she wants to move out next year. She's at home going to community college right now.

Welcome, and great job going to the bootcamp! The good thing about doing cardio is that it will make walking around the parks SO MUCH EASIER! I know this because Dh and I did cardio for a few months before we went to Disneyland last time, and we were not even tired after 12 hours in the park! Right now I get winded walking up the stairs to my bedroom, lol.

I don't have any park maps, or Dh and I would BOTH be studying them, lol! We are just now looking into hotels. I'm thinking Bonnet Creek. We like the space it provides while still having a hotel type of feel. We'd be open to another place like it if it had a breakfast included! Where is everyone else staying? Anyone doing Universal Studios too? That's the main reason we are headed all the way across the country (we are in Oregon), Dh and the kids are obsessed with Harry Potter! The plan is to get a 4 day Universal pass and a 7 day Disney pass with waterparks. We normally go to Disneyland, and went to Disneyworld once in 2004. Hurricane Jeanne struck the day we were suppose to fly home, and we were stuck in FL for 3 days afterwards while they tried to get us on a flight home. Fun!

Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone with the Disney obsession!!

Welcome disneycrazi (love the name!) and Amandancrx!! Thanks for joining! This is definitely a fun place to share/vent/chat about our trials and successes while we work towards feeling good in the Disney heat! If you want, let us know your first name...it's easier to chat that way.

Amandancrx, I'm so good at the half-diet too. The evenings are the worst for me. Some nights, I come on here instead and then I'm able to resist the temptations lurking in the cupboard! (I need to do it EVERY night, but I've been weak!)

Jen, we're just doing the Disney thing and staying on site at POP Century (kids are still fairly young) but when they are a bit older we're definitely going to do Universal. Let us know how it is!

Hi everyone! I'd like to join in as well. I'm 32, an attorney, and a doggie mom. I have at least 80lbs to lose total but I'm shooting for 20 before our trip at the end of Sept. DH and I just started the mayo clinic diet after returning from Disneyland. It's lots of fruits and veggies, moderate carbs/dairy/protein, little fat or extra sugar. It seems like we can eat much of the stuff we like only in healthier portions or healthier versions. Exercise is tough for me. After an 11 hour day at work, the last thing I want to do is exercise. Days when I have energy I will take the dogs for a walk (well 2 walks since they don't walk together) or use EA SportsActive (good workout when I use it). My exercise goal is 3 days a week. I also decided to take the train into work instead of driving so I also now get about 15 minutes total of guaranteed walking in every day.

Can't wait to lose some of this excess weight before our trip.

Welcome Stephanie! Thanks for joining! Let us know how the mayo clinic diet goes. It seems like all programs agree that lots of veggies and no simple sugar is the way to go! That's what I'm trying to do on my own. Willpower hasn't been fantastic but I'm making some positive changes! Good luck!

(Just totally curious...why don't your dogs walk together? It's good you get double the walk!):)

Hi Tara!

One of my dogs is a beagle and he likes to take it slow and smell the roses (literally). My other dog is part boxer and twice as big as the beagle and she likes to just walk. When they go out together, Stitch (beagle) ends up being dragged along because Eva wants to go or I end up being yanked if I stop to let Stitch take his time because Eva is full of energy. When they go alone, I get a brisk walk with Eva and a slower more leisurely walk with Stitch and both dogs are happy.

Last night we tried a new way to make our pork chops instead of drowning in BBQ sauce, which we can't have at all for the first 2 weeks. I braised them in tomato sauce (yay veggie) and had whole wheat pasta. I really enjoyed it and like the chops this way much better than the BBQ ones and it was really easy to get it going and just leave it alone. DH liked the chops but missed the BBQ sauce that he loves to put on potatoes. He wasn't super happy with the whole wheat pasta but he said it was okay and would eat them again.

I forgot to make sure he took his turkey sandwich with him to work today so he surprised me by saying he was getting a turkey wrap! And yesterday at work someone brought him double mashed potatoes with his lunch because he loves taters but he only ate half of them. I'm so proud of him . A lot of the reasons I go back to my bad eating habits is that DH usually isn't on board with whatever plan I am on. I'm so excited that he is doing this with me and we both will become healthier.

Okay here goes. I am a thirty-something mother of three + 5 furkids. My weight loss story starts around christmas when we booked our disney vacation for the 28th of August thru the 2nd of September, I weighed in at 192. I got a new job cleaning in a factory, so right there my daily exercise went up TREMENDOUSLY. I have lost weight and gained muscle. Lost a total of 12 pounds, but then the muscle started in and bounced it up so now I am at 181. Other than work, I haven't changed much. My goal is to walk a total of 30 minutes 5-6 nights a week, my husband says he will go with me (let's see how long that lasts) and to get down to 170 (165 would be better, but I wanna be realistic).
