How hot is it really?... Im not sure if we will be doing the whole stay on disney or rent a condo at wbc thing. Not sure how it is if we leave mid day to avoid the heat but come back to the parks later on. Is the parkling lot still crazy crowded to walk through? Ill have a 5 yr old and 2 yr old by then. Any suggestions on how to manage the parks in the heat is super helpful. Thanks!!

It's very hot, 90's with humidity every day. Get to parks early, then leave for a few hours for midday break, go back in the evening.

Super hot! I went last August with my two daughters aged 8 and 5. My tips are to alternate attractions or shows with AC, schedule ADRs in AC, and take advantage of free ice water at counter service restaurants.

It's hot. We went last year the first week of August. It's not undo-able though. Quite frankly it's been super hot during the summers by home lately anyway so I figured no big deal. We froze bottles of water overnight to take to the park with us and headed out to the parks early. We ate a late lunch and then headed back for swimming and then went back to the parks later in the evening. I actually booked again for this August so if you can handle the heat don't let it stop you!

Is it better to stay onsite or take advantage of hotels that have awesome lazy rivers mid day?
We stayed onsite. I liked the ease of going back and forth between the hotel and the parks since we took an afternoon break everyday.

We did the last week of July into the first week of August last year and it was doable, even with our 2 year old. We just drank plenty of water and tried to eat our meals in A/C. We did not go back to resort for breaks mid-day.

Not to hi-jack this thread, but, is August typically hotter than July? We went last year for the 2nd week of July...it was hot (of course) but I found it doable, and this is coming from someone who HATES the heat. We have a trip booked for the end of August so I am a bit concerned.

We have done both July and August (have done May and June and September too!). All of our trips June through September have felt pretty similar, with our July trip being the hottest. I think a lot of it just depends on the weather for the time you are there and is a bit of luck. Yes, it is extremely hot, but it is bearable with mid-day breaks and we have still had wonderful trips in the summer!

We've been in early August before. Super hot. Like walking into a tanning bed hot. We decided not to visit in August again, BUT if that was the only month I could possibly go, then I would do it again. Mid-day breaks are a must. Personally, i would stay on-site to take advantage of the transportation UNLESS you will have a car. We found the weather at night to be pretty nice and so enjoyed a lot of late nights in the parks. We're rope droppers, too, so we didn't get much sleep that trip, but we did have fun.

We have been in July and August. It is very hot, but if you take breaks in the AC and drink lots of water you should be good. Also be prepared for rain every day.

What really got me was being in crowds and being so close to sweaty stinky strangers!

It's extremely hot. Kind of like vacationing on the sun. Our last trip was August and we are going in July this year. It's the only time my kids can go so I deal with the heat. I resigned myself to bad hair and no makeup. Sweat non stop so use a fan and get wet every chance we got. Spent the afternoons at water parks or resort pool. Ate at air conditioned places for dinner. Wore shorts, tank tops and flip flops...or a sundress. That's it.
It's doable....

ok here goes..first I am a 50 year old woman who has the hot flashes, second I went last august and have booked for august of this year also. If i can handle it anyone can. My advice is to prep yourself and your family. Before you leave for this most magical vacation do yourself a favor and spend as much time as possible out in the summer heat, and start walking, a lot. And don't be afraid to put the 5 yr old in a stroller. We stayed on site and we did do pool breaks in the afternoon. Don't forget to have water all day long, make those kids drink even if they don't want to. plan days accordingly, make sure to do indoor attractions alternately with outdoor ones.

Thanks for all the wonderful tips! im looking into fans and water misters for the kids strollers haha

I was wondering about August myself, our trip is up in the air now and that might be our month.

For those of you that do RD, leave for a break, then return, what time do you RETURN? I'm wondering about parking mostly, but also what time it is when it starts getting cooler (not that it will be cool, lol).

We always go late August. It's hot, no doubt, but I love it. There is something about knowing you can leave early in the morning with shorts and a t-shirt and not even have to think about whether or not you'll need another layer later in the day.

The heat really does not bother us much because I find there are so many opportunities to escape the heat either in an indoor attraction or a restaurant or shop. If I start to feel overheated, I just head for some A/C. We book 2 - 3 TS a day, which is in part to experience great dining and in part to have a guaranteed break/cool down time scheduled.

We don't do midday breaks, but I do plan for a day or two where we stop touring early and head to the pool.

It's surface-of-the-sun hot. Like, AC feels so good, you cry, hot. We managed by using cooling towels, finding shade where we could and cooling off in A/C when we could. Took breaks mid-day for swims and AC. It's doable but it sometimes really is intolerably hot.
