August Crowds

Ok, I'm starting to get a little nervous about our Aug trip. DH and I are both teachers and can thus only go when there's no school. We'll be there Aug 6 - 11. I have been the last week of Aug and it was dead! What will it be like during the time?

We went at that time last year and are doing it again this year. We found the crowds to be a lot lower than we thought it'd be. We strolled into MK one day around 10am and it was really quite empty.
The wait for rides was not too bad, but obviously the parks did fill up later in the day.

It won't be dead & may be busier than the same time last year, as Florida schools & others around the country are going back later next year, but you'll be in Disney World -- I think you can count on having a great time!

One thing we encountered in August at WDW was the weather...
It was really humid all day and almost everyday there were severe thunderstorms around 4pm closing all water related rides.
If it rained and you got even a little wet, you never dried. Take ponchos!

Another teacher here and we always visit the last of July or the first weeks of August. Crowds aren't really bad most days and the weather is as you would expect for a summer in Florida. We'll be there the same time as you this year.

We were there the end of July going into the first week of August last summer. The crowds weren't too bad in the mornings. We think it had to do with the fact that free dining was starting a week or two after that and some people postponed their trip for that. Also, we had a really bad thunderstorm one evening but other than that we didn't have any of the afternoon rain like in early summer.

We'll be there from the 5th to the 10th. I've been twice before in August but I've arrived around the 15th or so. Hoping that there are a lot of folks that are holding off booking in hopes of the free dining again. That started around the 9-10 last year I think. So, maybe there won't be a huge number of people there for my time frame!!
