Hi Guys,

i might have to change my September visit to August but i was wanting to check on when most schools go back in August and what the crowds are like.

This stop is part of a 3 week trek and its the final stop before back to Australia and i know the half marathon is the first weekend in september so i was thinking either the 2 weekends before for a 7 days trip with 4 days in the parks.

your advice as always is invaluable to me!

Thanks in Advance

G' day mate! :)

How are things going in the land down under?

Spring break in general, pretty much winds down, before the end of August. That is not to say however, that it might not become crowded, due to various factors. I had visited a few years ago, during the last week of August. The weather was hot and humid. Thank goodness, by the end of the week, it was not as hot, nor humid. It was not crowded, during the early part of the day. By the late afternoon, especially by early evening, it looked like the flood gates had opened. It was not that bad still though all the same. But not light by any means either.
Here is a thread that has some information regarding your question

I hope that you have a wonderfully awesome and most magical time at the land!

A lot of schools in CA don't start the new school year until early Sept, right around Labor Day (which is the 1st Monday in September, for those of you who don't live in the US).

Sorry just another quick question you guys are mentioning about spring break i was meaning summer break ive been in March before in spring break and that was managable crowds.

I can handle heat where i live is always very hot and humid in summer

I will be there mid August for the Expo and noticed that the Southern CA APs go off their restrictions right when I'm there..so..I'm expecting they will flood in and the crowds will be pretty sucky. I think that is Monday the 22nd..which, of course, is when we start our after Expo days...ack...just be aware of local AP patterns and how they affect the crowds. The Expo is August 19-21 but I know that many may be coming in early for some park time, or staying after (I'm doing both). I don't know how much that will impact crowds, but the AP schedule certainly will.

I have never been there in August when it was humid. I bit dewy in the AM but by the time the heat gets going the relative humidity is fairly low. People sweat alot and think it is the humity, but if they would check the measured it is fairly low..my .02. We are going the 1st week this year opposed to the 2nd or 3rd week.

We booked the same period hoping to get by some of the summer crowd. Didn't realize that AP's were unlocked. Will the weekdays still be lightest? And would Ride Max help a lot? We usually go in Jan because i'm not a fan of crowds.

Up until Fridays, the week days are much better. I have never used Ridemax so I can not say it would be useful or not. There will be crowds no matter what day and always use MM when you can.

I cannot ever seem to get going early enough for MM. ;) No, really. But it is a good idea to do, I agree. And collect your fast passes too. The sooner you arrive, the better. And collect them throughout the day. These are things that I do. And take advantage of the single rider line pass. It is so very nice indeed. Indy has it. You really will save so much time utilizing it.
I really like the Indy Que, but if it and the fast pass lines are really long, I will use the SRL.

I am not sure that I would even go in the summer if I could not get the Magic Mornings. I agree with Gisele, the Single Rider Line does take some of the wait out some of the time but not always. We tried it a few times last year but always got split up and we like to ride as a family so we us the FP's as much as possible. We always break mid day and come back in the early evening until closing.

I think we only intend to do 1 weekend day at the parks so i dont mind the crowds as long as they arent like shoulder to shoulder crazy busy! ive been in august before but sooo many years ago and dont remember. i am trying to avoid expo weekend because of i know it would be crazy i think we would be planning to arrive on a wednesday or thursday in anaheim.

Public schools in Southern California don't start until September. The exception is Anaheim elementary schools, which are year-round so you won't have the entire population in school.

The Dobies NEVER manage to get there for magic mornings, and we do just fine by collecting FPs, hitting the e tickets in the morning, and taking a health afternoon break.

Exactly... and that is a very good plan too. Maybe one day, I will manage at least one MM. I am happy with making it by opening, or as close to it as possible. :)

If this Expo is anything like the last, the actual Expo days will see a DECREASE in crowds, not an increase (not that with all the people that go to DLR anyway it will impact much either way) The Expo schedule is so packed from morning to late night that there is no park time. We went to the park one evening and skipped a movie showing and then regretted it because Mr Sherman popped in..too many surprises to risk missing anything.

The week starting Monday, August 29th is a good one. The week before will most likely be packed with AP holders and the weeks before that are still summer crowds.

From my experiences, August is still very packed. Schools in So. California start during the first and second week of September. I generally like to go the second week of September, generally a Tuesday or a Wednesday, the park is a very empty. 10 minutes tops wait lines even for the most popular rides.

Well if all the dates fall into place looks like we will be in anaheim the weekend before the expo and leaving for Sydney on the 18th August so our trip will be 11-18 August
