Just got to whine to my friends a little...The first four years we "lived" at Ft. W., we took our m.h., the last summer rented a cabin, and liked it, too. At that time (8/04), the cabin was about twice the price of a value resort, which didn't bother me too much.

Fast forward to 8/08, with AAA discount (only one I can get, so far, for 8/9-8/18), the cabin price would be $2195 ($255-AAA+tax) vs $664 ($82-AAA+tax) for a value resort, more than 3.5X as much! Ouch!!!!

Sigh. We'll have to visit alot....

Yep, the cabins are very pricey!! I think the regular price is $259 a night plus tax. We're thinking of possibly staying in one for our next trip, if my Dad and Step-Mom go with us. Otherwise that will never happen! :lmao:

They didn't *use* to be, though! They're definately twice the value of the "values", but when you get into the 3Xs, with only one bathroom, well...!

Still cheaper than driving my gas hog m.h. from MI, though, at $3.50/gal!

Terri

Yooper, I feel your pain. Some of the pricing out of Disney seems to be skyrocketing. See what a annual passholder rate would be and see if it's worth purchasing. Good Luck!

maybe a code will come out so you can save a little more over the AAA.....fingers crossed.

Thanks, you guys, for understanding. DS is 13, and I feel that this will be his last visit as a "kid". He LOVES FW, and is not happy about having to stay at one of the values, but understands that if it's either that or not going at all...

Well, you know how it goes! Wish I had the time and gas$$ to take the motorhome.

We'll still visit!

Terri

Are any of the RV rentals worth it? Someone rents pop ups too. That might be fun.

Anyway, I totally understand and I hope you get a good discount!

We are using TinaH's RV in August. There are several other people here on the board that are renting from her. They place the 5th wheel on site for you in FW. I personally prefer the regular camping loops as opposed to those of the cabins. Tina's 5th wheel has a wonderful floorplan..large enough to accomodate a good sized family. Two slideouts. It comes equipped with all the amenities you will need. Complete with towels, linens, and cookware. Your national chains don't provide any of that. With Tina's RV all you have to provide is yourself and the FW fun! You should check out her website.

It is certainly less expensive than the cabins, and being able to camp in the regular loops you can be closer to the campground amenities.

If I ever need some advertising I'm definately hiring you lol. Tina better give you another weeks free rent for all the times you posted that link. Now if I can just do some environmental work for you and you give out my name I'll have enough money to stay at the fort some more. :rotfl2:

Hey, when there is a great product, like Tina's everyone should spread the word!

The annual pass idea is a good one. You break even at 10 days for a Park Hopper pass and that doesn't take into account any of the other passholder benefits like the reduced resort rates and the dining discounts.

We're staying at a cabin in May on the passholder rate. It only takes one person with an annual pass to make the reservation. $188 for weekdays and $200 for the weekend. We wanted the kitchen and the extra room and found that was the best deal at all of the Disney resorts.

If you aren't familiar with the benefits of the annual pass, MouseSavers has an excellent analysis of whether it would work for you.

Just like codes etc. , they only have a specific number available for discount. Once those are gone you pay the same rate as everyone else. Unless I'm mistaken and we get a discount everytrip. I Could be wrong but, I believe we have been told that no discounted sites were available..

That changes as people make and cancel reservations. Since these are room-only reservations, you have more freedom in cancelling (we've cancelled at least as many as we've held). You can make these online once you have a pass or a voucher which means that you can check availability yourself as much as you want without having to go through the maze that is Disney reservations.

I think it was pointed out that the rates are released only 2-3 months ahead. You can make the reservations without the pass on the phone, so it wouldn't hurt to test it out before deciding if you want to go through with it.
