August 7th, 2010 Mediterranean Cruise

My Kids (son age 9 and Daughter age 12) are curious as to ages of other kids on here. the last cruise we did was September 2008 repositioning. Not a lot of kids since it was school time. They are both curious about kids their age this time... Not a biggee though!

FYI we arrive on the 5th and are staying at the Hotel Regina in Barcelona. Are there still families planning on the Chocolate Tour the 6th at 12:00, so we can meet up before the cruise? Cant wait to meet all of you..We are so excited. this is our last vacation the 4 of us before baby-to-be comes along (dont worry I meet the pregnancy "cut off"...we had to switch cruises last minute... a few weeks ago....just because of that!)

Welcome Aboard Our boys are 9 and 7 and looking forward to meeting some new friends on the this trip! Hope you all can join us for our get-together on the first day. It will be a great way for all the kids to meet! Won't me long now...

Do all 12 year old automatically get to come and go from the kids club w/o parents OK...just curious. we have cruised since they were 4 but it appears her age now there is no where to "sign her up?"

There is no pressure like that of an imminent ship depature to make me pack a bag or two !

Hello All! I just happened upon this web site and am thrilled to see so many as excited about this cruise as my husband & I!!! We only booked recently (middle of June) but have really lucked out in how it has all pulled together. This is actually my husband & my first trip to Europe (well, unless you count en route to Iraq for him when he was in the Amsterdam airport) and it's also my first cruise!

Does anyone have any last minute advice or tricks of the trade to share? I've tried doing quite a bit of research but with such seasoned cruisers on the discussion board I figured I'd ask. My husband has been on a cruise before, but it was to Alaska so it's kind of a whole different ball-game with this one.

Welcome aboard Jaymie Cruising is so much fun and on DCL it is even better!! As for tips, you have come to the right place. DISboards is full of them and we are all here ready for your questions! So bring 'em on...

I would think your cruise docs will arrive any day, but agree to contact DCL if you don't get them this week.

Our thread is getting busy with lots of new people..very exciting! I was wondering if we have decided on the time and place for the Meet and Greet, so we can communicate it as new people visit the thread. Are we thinking 2:30pm at the Goofy Pool? Is there a particular meeting spot we may want to try and gravitate too? Anyone have ideas?

I think 2:30 at the Goofy Pool sounds great. It will give people a chance to have lunch and roam around a bit first.

What time are you all planning to get to the dock? We have late check out at our hotel (I think others are also staying at the Hotel Arts...), and while I know we will be super excited to get on the ship, I don't want to be waiting around for hours at the dock...

If we go down at 2pm will there still be a line to get on the ship? We are all first time cruisers so I'm thinking that even if we were one of the first down at the dock (don't even know what time that should be), we would be in a later boarding group...

Thoughts??

I dont know about anyone else but I will have my neices and nephews doing the choc tour on the 6th at noon. Their are 4 of them and they are very social. Max (12), Emma (10), Natalie (8), and Nolan (6). It is a one hour - Chocolate Artist class. They can't wait and My sister and I are going to take the regular tour whle we wait or sit and enjoy the tastes and smells.

I wouldn't call myself a seasonned cruiser yet - I keep telling my husband be aren't seasned until we do more...more...more. But we did a RCCL 12 day cruise in Western Med last summer will my kds (our 4th RCCL cruise) and I have done 5 DCL cruises (this is #6). I thought I would hate cruising and I have become addicted. Love it. The longer the better.

I was an add on to this cruise. My dad gave this cruise to my sister and her kids 2 yrs ago for Christmas, kind of a make up call for when she was 16 (long story) but last summer I found some better deals for them and just kept planning and was asked if I wanted to go along...who would say no to a free cruise to Europe...not me.

almost there and I only have 19 days to pt #1 leaving to pick up my sister in Virginia. Yeah!

I sent it through PM. Geri's kids 10 and 7 will also be doing the Choc Artist that day. They that they give the tour in English, Catalion, and Spanish so the kids will be fine and at this rate it will be all DIS kids anyway.

We are also arriving on the 4th.

Yes, we are staying at the Hotel Arts as well. When are you arriving at the hotel? We are staying for two nights. We will probably grab a taxi and head out late morning for the ship on Saturday. I have a feeling I will be like a little kid and anxious to get onboard

Did no packin yet bu got organized, bought lighter suitcases, bought some FEE presents (most of them I will buy in the ports so I do not have to take them on the plane)

Hi Gang -

For those of you who are new to our group, I posted a graphic on page 41 that can be used with your lanyard to help others recognize that we are all part of the same crazy group . It can also come in handy when we meet on the first day. I have also attached a link below.

For those of you who have already printed or are working on customizing that graphic for your lanyard, are you putting first names or family name and/or disboard name? I am wondering if we should determine a group name and have that as part of the graphic instead. Just curious what others were planning???? I haven't finalized mine yet, but I am getting close and was wondering what others thought. Thanks!

I just printed 6 to a page and wrote our real names in.


2:30 sounds good to us. I hate to be late. We have our tansfer picking us up at 11am on the 7th but we are an unruly group of 7 and getting everyone to do the same thing at once is never easy.
