Does anyone have any good links for info on DIY excursions?

We are planning to do all our excursions DIY, partly because of the price difference and partly so we can do short trips to just the things that interest us going at our own pace - with a toddler and a 5 year old hours on a tour bus are not appealing!!!

I just used the DIS's search for med excursions in general and then each port individually. Came up with lots of good really detailed info on how to DIY. We will be doing all of the ports this way.

Welcome Aboard to all the new Dis-ers! Meeting at 2.30 sounds OK. We plan to arrive around 01.00 PM should be a walk trough by then.
Did no packin yet bu got organized, bought lighter suitcases, bought some FEE presents (most of them I will buy in the ports so I do not have to take them on the plane)

Have a disney Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, I have told my daughter about the designated meeting time and she is very excited to meet your DD. :) We're almost there can't wait!! But, goodness do I ever have so much to do still!

We're going to pretend to be kidless the afternoon of the wine and cheese tour!! Is anyone else signed up for that?

My sister and I are doing that w/o kids too! She calls it" Nice and Easy with wine and cheesy!

Next week is really busy for me. I have 40 hrs of classes (gotta have clock hours to renew my eaching certificate each 5 years). Actually I am looking forward to it. And I have to work Friday night, Sat and Sun at the scrapstore. Hope I have time for the gym!:confused3

I made a goal this summer to join a gym class and actually do it 3x a week all summer. I lost no weight since I started the first week of June but I feel more muscular. Definately more stamina. My sister is a gym instructor and we will be trying to workout each morning - last cruise we did together I was able to do it every other day. I am going to try. Then I can eat everything I want and DRINK! I warned you my sister Ginny is really skinny and I have that short, chubby, Italian body...185 lbs and holding. Oh well, I'm jolly.

Everyone in my group is getting very excited! I leave in 18 days to meet up wth my sister and her kids!:cheer2:

We tell DD this friday - I don't know HOW i have kept it a secret from her for so long - she is going to flip, *hopefully*....

or, should i be really mean, and not tell her until we get to the port????? I don't know if my neighbors can keep it a secret that long tho.. LOL

We are not telling our DD's til we get to the port - well in reality it is our older daughter who we are keeping it a secret from - the younger one doesn't realy "get" going on holiday as a concept! Izzy is the oldest and she is 5 and she will be so excited to see "Mickeys Special Boat!"

I should have done what you did. My husband told my DS4 as soon as we booked it and I have heard almost everyday, "are we going on the Mickey Boat today?" LOL
I guess it's been better than when we got off of the boat in Nov, and I had to hear everyday, "when can I go an the Mickey boat again?"

Yeah, we learned that last time - we don't tell this child ANYTHING until the very last minute - she drives everyone nuts with her "is it here yet" questions..... and she has NOT gotten any better with age! LOL

I wish no one told me...I have been tortured for almost 2 years counting the days until this trip :rotfl:

Not that we are likely to have time for it, but has anyone heard what movies are on board right now? Sorcerer's Apprentice?? Just wondering.

I think the Princess & The Frog and Toys Story 3 are showing plus others. I think if you search the main board there was a recent thread about it.

You can also call DCL starting 2 weeks before your sailing and they will tell you all the movies, we're almost there. :cool1:

Just to let everyone know, our ship is fully booked. I called about paying for an upgrade and they have NOTHING! Wow

really??????? wow! go fig, a few weeks ago, it was wide open, and we got our mil discount! think there is a chance of any upgrades at the port becoming avail?

Goofy Pool?

We have an 11:30 transfer from our hotel to the dock. So we will be there.

How can you get packed so early. I am pre-packed (got all my stuff in my craft/college kids room) but am afraid to pack it all because it would have permenent wrinkles.

I am so behind... I haven't logged in since last week.

Well, we should be at the dock around 11 a.m. The DD's want to start swimming. We will be at the Goofy Pool. I have to take care of a few things at the Kids area, and my DH will be checking with Palo's for brunch.

I have to figure out how to attach a pic on this website so that you can see.

We started packing last month of all the things that we need. We are working on toiletries and my luggage.

By the way, I found out that the medical floor has free "seasick" pills. So, save your money and buy something else :)

My DH and I will be on this cruise as well; Just stumbled across this thread while doing some research on photos people have posted from previous Med cruises. (SO completely excited!) :yay:

Anyway....never knew these thread/groups existed. Would love to join. My hubby and I travel alone (no kids) but are completely addicted to DCL. This cruise will be #8 (so far). Since we have no travel partners, it would be fun to have people to connect with on the trip.

Welcome! That's great! We would be happy to have you and your DH to join us. We have a lot of children in our group :)

My Kids (son age 9 and Daughter age 12) are curious as to ages of other kids on here. the last cruise we did was September 2008 repositioning. Not a lot of kids since it was school time. They are both curious about kids their age this time... Not a biggee though!

FYI we arrive on the 5th and are staying at the Hotel Regina in Barcelona. Are there still families planning on the Chocolate Tour the 6th at 12:00, so we can meet up before the cruise? Cant wait to meet all of you..We are so excited. this is our last vacation the 4 of us before baby-to-be comes along (dont worry I meet the pregnancy "cut off"...we had to switch cruises last minute... a few weeks ago....just because of that!)

Happy Packing!!!!!

We are scheduled to do the Factory tour on the 6th @ noon. We are hoping to get confirmation soon.

Our DD's are 10 and 7.

I spoke to two airlines, because we have two legs of the trip on different airlines. I have learned the way to correctly measure carry-on suitcases.
  1. Take a measuring tape. Then, measure the height of the suitcase. Do not measure the wheels or the handle which does not count towards the measurements.
  2. Then, measure the width of the suitcase = W. Remember not to include the handle.
  3. Lastly, measure the depth.
  4. If you add all three measurements and the sum is under 45 linear inches. Then, your carry-on is good.
  5. Warning: If you are over the 45 linear inches even by 1/2", they will have to check it in.

I hope that this helps everyone with Carry-on Questions.

Hi, Jaymie! Welcome to the group. We are happy that you and your DH have joined us. It will be my first with the DD's. My DH has been here before. It's our 2nd cruise and love the people and Disney. You will have a great time.
