August 6, 2005 Mexican Riviera..Who's In?

You may certainly order an extra chocolate souffle to take to the room!!

Remember to let your server know at the BEGINNING of your Palo meal that you will be wanting the souffles....either yours after your meal, or one to take with you. They bake each one as they are ordered, so if you wait until dessert time, you'll have a bit of a wait (okay, MORE than a bit!) for your souffle.

Thank you, Stacey! :banana::banana::disrocks::banana::banana:
My kids are gonna be happy when they see the chocolate souffle.:thewave:

 My DD9 just asked how big is the chocolate souffle? Is it enough for 2 kids to share? Would it be too much to ask our server for 2 chocolate souffle to go? I didn't think that the chocolate souffle is gonna be such an issue. :confused3

Lisa

I know none of us want to share one!! How old are the kids? Get two....your server won't mind, and at least you won't have any problems with having the kids share. The baking dish that the souffle comes in is round....but it is probably 4" to 5" across.....and they will ask you if you want hot chocolate sauce poured over the top, or warm vanilla sauce.....I can never decide, and the last time, I had BOTH!
Sorry....just noticed you said one of your kids is 9 yrs old.....now I KNOW you should get two!! One would be suitable for toddlers to share.....

Where can I find those seabands?
Not at Target. I feel like I've been running around alot lately and keep forgetting things on my list. :hyper:

Thanks, Jinny
I found them at Brooks pharmacy, they have them at CVS here too. Look near the Dramamine area.

Stacey - Do the cabin safes lock/unlock with a credit card or a key? If they use a card, then I'll remember to take a grocery member card.

I keep thinking I'm going to miss having a soufflé...maybe I'll see if our server can somehow snag me one for dessert one night! Has anyone ever tried doing this before? Brynée really doesn't want me to desert her during dinner, but the soufflé sounds scrumptious!

Cathy....sending Pixie Dust for your husband!!

Thank you Stacey, thank you all. He is home tonight and doing good. I think he'll be okay by next week and feeling better than he did before today.

Cathy :goodvibes :goodvibes

Cathy - Let your DH know we are thinking of him and sending speedy recovery thoughts his way :flower3: ! Is Jessica getting excited? Brynée is still tired out from "Beauty" and she has 4 more performances this weekend; maybe if she knew Jessica was getting organized that might help! I've printed out our regular packing list and she has yet to open up her suitcases! I'm sure she'll be fine...flip/flops, shorts, "t"s and a couple of nice dresses and she'll be good to go - HA!

I finally psyched up to try on some of my clothes AND :cheer2: my black dress that I wore for last year's cruise still fits! A combo of new meds and my old gym closing a few months ago, I was afraid to try it on. As long as I don't eat too many :mickeybar :mickeybar before Sunday's dinner, I'll be fine. I plan to keep going to the gym on a daily basis as long as I'm not too sore and that will definitely be a good thing! DH made it to Las Vegas safely and it only took him 5 hours...glad I wasn't in the car with him :scared1: !

Jenny, Jess just started talking about DL rides today and wants to make sure she has cute outfits to wear on the cruise. I reminded her that all of her things are new because no one there has seen them. She still wants to shop for a new polo in a different color. She will bring many flip flops (gotta have different colors) and sandals. She wears sneakers for the trip and walking excursions. At least flip flops pack flat. I tried on my dresses too. The ones that looked horrible last year still do  I have one black dress and a black pants suit I am bringing. The rest is more casual. I tried on many things at the mall, but nothing looked right. I have to choose amongst the casual now. I don't have anything too tropical. Cathy

Cathy - Jess may want to wait and shop at DL! They have cute babydoll style shirts with DL logos as well as the animated classics. Brynée opted to wear sneakers to DL last week as it was fairly crowded and she wanted to protect her toes! Also, if Jess is into Roxy clothing, Quiksilver is in DTD. If Jess wants to ride Matterhorn, you should get in line at the DL gates a few minutes before the park opens and then head straight to the Matterhorn. Brynée usually rides it twice with no wait at all while I get the Space Mtn fastpasses. If you need tips, just ask as Brynée has made a science out of navigating DL

Thanks. I'll be going to Walgreens or Longs for the seabands.
Hope we don't forget anything! :worried:

The safe locks with your Key to the World card (room key). But you can only use one person's key, since each key is encoded to match that person. I've heard that you CAN use any credit card, or any card with a magnetic strip...so try the grocery card....then you could just leave it in the room, and either one of you can open the safe any time. Along those lines, I've always thought it was pretty cool how the cards are encoded for each of us. I really like looking at the bill on the last day, and knowing which of us made a purchase at a certain place. It actually helps me to sort out the final bill a little easier.
It's next to impossible to get your waiter to get you a souffle in the main dining rooms......DCL's fear is that if anyone sees that you have one, then everyone will want one, and of course, it's a "special" item at Palo, and DCL gets more money for Palo. Seems to always come down to money.
The main dining rooms have a very similar dessert one night.....I just wish I could remember what it is....maybe the Chocolate Lava cake??

Hi all!

We are in Palo's on Wednesday night too - at 6:00. So we'll all run into each other! :wave2:

Stacey - a question - do we need to have pesos? If so, I'd want to get some before we go. I haven't read enough on or seen any mention of it on the West Coast Cruise.

We're starting our vacation on the 2nd - only because we are visiting Mother-in-Law on the way down to So. Cal and going to DL the Thursday and Friday before.

I'm am still buying stuff for the cruise and going

Off to bed, night all!

Thanks for the tip for the souffle. I will definitely order 2 souffle to go. My DS2 can eat as much as my DD9.

I read on "The Passporter" that Warm Chocolate Lava Cake is served during the Captain's Gala. Is the Captain's Gala the same as the Formal Night? :confused3

Lisa

Stacey - Thanks for the info regarding the safe and souffle! My plan will be to just indulge at Palo brunch though they won't have souffle :sad2: . I'll take a casino rewards card to see if that works on the safe. Also, have a fantastic WDW trip :wave2: :earsboy: :wizard: ! Are you leaving early tomorrow? Thanks again for all of your tips, insight and thread-starting abilities :goodvibes ; you are much appreciated! I know DD and I will have a great cruise thanks to all that you have shared over this past year! I look forward to hearing of your "other" cruiselines experiences!!

Thanks, Jenny.....crazy nut that I am, I looked at DCL's website again this morning. Hoping that they had just one little room for me! No way.....you guys are booked full!

Lisa, yes....The Captain's Gala is a formal night. You can have your picture taken with the Captain in the lobby, and he's in his dress whites! There's also a CM there who will take a picture of your family with your own camera, in case you don't like, or don't want to buy the ship's photo.

Lauren.....no....you don't need pesos at all. Usually, the shops (and other places) will tell you the amount in U.S. dollars.....but sometimes they didn't so we had to ask. I think some of them did that on purpose, just to have fun with the crazy Americans! They would say "One thousand"......of course, our eyes would pop out....and then we had to say "How much in U.S.?" and they'd smile and say "Ten dollars". Whew....much better!
The ship does have money to exchange, if you want to...but we never found it necessary at all. Sometimes we would get some small change back in pesos....the kids kept it for souvenirs....and I gave a few of the coins to children on the street.

Remember that some of the shops (and even an extra you might pay for on an excursion) will charge your credit card in pesos. Your bank will then convert it, so don't worry. There is a small fee for conversion, but there's no way of getting around that.....and to me, it was worth it to not have to carry a lot of money with me.

You guys are going to have so much fun! I think if they had an open room today, I really would have booked it, just for myself.
I'll check in throughout the day today.....and will talk to you before you leave.....I think we'll also have the lap top with us in WDW....just don't know if we'll have the "down time" to go online!!
TTFN!

Has anyone seen a photo of ceiling bed of Category 9 looks like? My DD9 wants to know where she be sleeping.

Thanks,
Lisa

Lisa, I'm going to send you a PM of a site that shows the ceiling bed. That particular site has been blocked from being posted on here. Once the site opens, just click on "Staterooms" and then click on the one that says "Mystery of the Ceiling Bed Revealed"

Itinkso.... we ordered one (souffle) for our anniversary at the regular dinning room instead of their 'special' cake and they brought us one... so maybe you can say it's a special occassion and they'll do it for you??? Just a thought!

Stacey - Could you please send me the link for the ceiling bed?
I thought I had seen a photo somewhere but can't find it. My DD also would like to see her bed.
Thanks so much for posting alot of info. We've learned so much from you and others. :disrocks:
Thanks again. Jinny

Me too Stacey - I'd like to see what they look like as well.:teeth:

Got the pillowcases done last night. Put together a design for t-shirts for pirate night and asked DH if he would wear it - got the green light and will be going to store looking for gray tshirts tonight and putting iron-ons on them for all 4 of us. Much less expensive than ordering from a t-shirt store! I think they'll be pretty cute. We leave tomorrow am for ABQ. I'm supposed to have internet access at the hotel so, hopefully, I'll be back online soon...

Lisa tells me that she couldn't get the link in her PM's....so I'll try to e-mail it...
