Does anyone know of a reason that I really NEED to bring tennis shoes/socks for the kids?

Also, any other couple interested in going in on the wine package with us at dinner?

Eve, Since they have good walking sandals, the only other thing I can think of is for certain excursions like horseback riding they say "no open toed shoes"

My DH and I don't drink much, the most I have is a glass of wine, but only if I don't want to stay up very long after dinner :goodvibes I am always dieting and like my food calories more than alcohol ones. I did just see a report on the French who drink a lot of wine though and they are all thin!

I saw on the news that the California Screamin' roller coaster had an accident and two cars collided! :scared: :scared:

15 people were hurt but none seriously they said. Hope the ride is open when we go, I bet they will be on their guard more so I won't be too scared to have DD and DH go on it I guess. I may go on it, but not if my sinuses are bothering me like they are today. I hope it gets better for the plane ride too. It isn't too bad though, just annoying.

We don't have an exact time, but the ship sails between 5 and 5:30pm I have read on threads. We just plan to be in that vicinity and look around for each other as we wait and then get underway. I also plan to look for people in the terminal at boarding, I will wear my DIS button and if I am brave enough I may wear my lime green Castaway Cay t-shirt. Hey I like this smilie for our final countdown! :hourglass

Cathy

I plan on wearing one of my lime green tops (I think I ended up with 2) but we do not have any DIS Buttons or name tags. I have posted a couple of pictures of us here so if anyone recognizes us please come and talk to us! I will be watching for name tags or DIS Buttons.
Last night I had my first ever cruise dream. Really wasn't about the cruise it was about seeing a DIS Board person at the terminal. In the dream we were checking in and the lady in front of us was wearing a backpack that said: :disrocks: and under that it said "DIS BOARD KNOW IT ALL!" so I approached her and she was very hesitant to talk to me. I invited her to join us at the sail away on Deck 10 and all she said was "so we don't have to go to the safety drill" I told her it would be after the drill and asked her what her name was and she reluctantly told me Tamara and walked away. Weird dream!
I think I'm really just worried that I am going to be standing right next to one of you and not know it. So thats why I say if anyone recognizes us say hi! But you know I've been know to stand right next to someone I KNOW in the grocery store and not see them!
Today is DH's birthday. We're going to dinner in San Francisco and tomorrow we have tickets to a show that is a tribute to Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. ...the Brat Pack (he doesn't know about it yet but he's been dying to go).
Have a great weekend everyone and START PACKING!!! :dancer:

Maybe we could have a signal that wouldn't be too strange to anyone else. Like if you see someone you think might be one of us, you pull and jiggle your ear lobe like Carol Burnett used to do. Anyone else would just think you are fixing an earring or something. If you do it again it is less likely to be just a coincidence. Do you like that anyone? Not everyone will get the message but between that and some of us having DIS or Mickey paint chips we will see the group forming...

What does the DIS button look like? Where can we get them?

Lisa
It is a round lime green button 2 1/4 inches in diameter. It says "DIS" in black letters with the website address and "Home of the DISboards", but only the "DIS" is in larger letters. I got it by sponsoring these forums through Paypal, that helps pay for them. I also got a keychain, this was last year.
Others bought Mickey mouse head/ears paint chips at Home Depot (alien green color). I think they peel off like a sticker to wear, maybe they are writing "DIS" on them.

When do you leave for the cruise Lisa? I will be here on the thread through Wed. evening, then we leave for Disneyland. I am not looking forward to flying all day (8 hours with the stopover) from the East Coast, but I haven't been to California since 1988 and DD13 has never been.

Cathy

My DH bought a bright lime green polo shirt (which surprised me) so I told him he has to wear it next Saturday when we board the ship. With me in my lime Castaway Cay shirt we should be very visible together. I am not sure what time the bus takes us over from DL to the port.

I am so excited now, DH still has to work two days but I took 2 wks off. I have a million things to do! I have started gathering items in the "cruise room" and DD13 put most of the clothes she wants to bring in there for me. I put things in space saver bags to pack more in less space. They worked well last time. If they want to search our bags I could be in trouble though, I have to lay on them to squeeze the air out. That would not be pretty if I had to re-do it in the screening area (LOL).

We are driving down from Daly City on Friday, August 5th. Original destination was San Pedro, until we read the reviews the hotel was so so. :scratchin We decided to change the hotel and location, so now we plan to go to the Embassy Suites in Garden Grove near DL.

Cathy, I also wouldn't looked forward to an 8 hours non-stop flight. :earseek:

BTW,I also have some the Home Depot Mickey mouse head/ears paint chips. It doesn't stick. Did I get a bad batch of paint chips? :confused3

Lisa :earsgirl:

Lisa - I heard they do not stick very well. My Dh brought home from work some magnetic tape so that's what I wil be using.

Our family is driving over to the pier Friday afternoon and staying at a hotel. It is a 3 hour drive for us. We would get much sleep the night before :maleficen because we will be so excited.

Ryan's birthday party just finished now it's time to start packing. I neber thought this day would finally get here. I CAN"T WAIT!!!!!!! My dh is finally starting to show excitement. YEAH !!!!!! (I knew he would! He just has more patience than me)

I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Courtney

Lisa - I used clear contact paper to attach a paint chip onto the back of my lanyard cardholder.

Courtney - Where will you be staying on Friday night? Brynee and I will be at the San Pedro Sheraton - we have a stay/cruise package booked and will leave the car there and get shuttled over on Saturday morning? Are you planning to get an early start to the pier in the morning?

I still can't bring myself to buy lime green clothing - but I'm planning to wear a bright pink polo that has a lime green palm tree insignia. I might be able to talk Brynee into wearing something lime green.

Cathy - Have a great flight and a wonderful visit to DL! How were Jess' performances? Brynee is happy that Beauty is now over and she has time to organize her room and get clothes ready to pack!

Did everyone read that there is wireless internet onboard the Magic?? I won't be taking my laptop but it looks like Lisa and Eve will have theirs!

We thought about bringing our laptop but decided against it. We can live without the internet for 10 days and I think I have a large enough memory stick for my camera for all of my pictures, plus disposable cameras for the kids.
By the way did any of you book a tour with Mazatlan Frank? We did and he said he has 12 other people from our cruise on it. Just wondering who.
Vickie

Hi Everyone! :wave2: We got back from Albuquerque this afternoon. I spent the rest of the day doing laundry and finished up our t-shirts for Pirate Night. I'm quite proud of them pirate: :teeth: ....

I have SO much to do tomorrow! We were up at 3:30 am today to catch our flight....so I'm off to bed!

hello everone

Our departure has approached more and more.
We have gotten excited very much.

I write our travel schedule again.

We leave Japan on PM ,August 5. (Japan time)
We arrive at LAX on AM, August 5. (USA time)
Then We go to DLR and stay one night.

On the cruise,
We are deck 6.
We are 2nd dinings.

BTW
You will be able to find us easily.
Because
Our second daughter is always using the wheelchair.

I can speak English only a little.
But I want to meet and want to talk all of you.
Please talk to us if you see us with the ship.

See you then.

Jenny, thanks for idea of using contact paper. I am going to use it.

Vickie, what kind of tour are you going with Mazatlan Frank? How long is it? What time does the tour begins? How much does it cost per Adult and per child?

Thanks,
Lisa

Thank you Jenny, you have a good trip to port as well. Jess' performances were great and she exchanged screen names and email with a lot of kids. She is sad it was over, but vacation is taking her mind off it.

It is funny how all the DH's are now getting excited while we have been here a long time being excited. DH bought two books to bring, he never seems to get to relax enough to read at home with yardwork, woodworking and his art, not to mention bringing work home. I just love vacation!!

I will look for your family Kazu. Have a good and safe flight to LA, maybe we will see you at Disneyland on Friday but there are two parks and a lot of people I bet. Eve and her family will be there before the cruise too.

Well, I have to get ready for "beauty day" as Jessica calls it. We are getting our hair highlighted and manicures today. Tomorrow is doctor day, she has an eye exam and an orthodontist appt. She will be getting braces for a year, but she won't have them before the cruise which is good, they must take getting used to.

Happy packing everyone!

Here is a copy of the email from Mazatlan Frank:
Meeting time is 9:15am.
Hola amigos

I thanki you for your quick reply. On Aug 10, I have a City tour going on. It is the 3 1/2 hr tour. The cost per person is $22us and for child. from 3-10 $13us. We see the City, like Old Mazatlan, Golden zone, cathedral, cliff divers, El Cid residential area, viewpoint of the ship and city and much more. It is a great way to see the City. If you like to stay at the end in the Golden zone or at a Hotel and then go back on your own by taxi, no problem.

Have a look at my website for some pictures and more details. Any aditional questions please ask.

Gracias!

Frank

I posted on his thread and he PM'd me back. He seems like a nice guy and very familiar with what the "tourists" want so I figured it would be a good choice.
To anyone who is leaving soon, see ya Saturday Deck 10!

Sara is in "phase 2" of her braces. She had a partial mouthfull for 18 months to make room for permenant teeth then had them off for a year and now has full mouth braces (she's had them back on about 12 weeks now) for another 18 months. That first week after getting them on has been the worst for her then just a day or 2 after each adjustment. End result is worth it though!

Jenny - We are staying at the best western and using their cruise package. I wanted to stay at the Sheraton. But i never could find a phone number to call and get the price. I know it's a personal question, but can you tell me how much you are paying for the one night and parking??? If it's cheaper I will switch hotels if it isn't to late. Yes, in regards to your other question. I think we are heading over to the pier early. I don't think we will be able to sit in our hotel room very long. :) .
