August 6, 2005 Mexican Riviera..Who's In?

Yeah, I will just ignore that PM. I'll look at the form they sent this weekend for passports. It looked like just one form for the 3 of us, but I will have to look closer. I am too tired after work to think about forms unless I have to for school the next day.

I don't think we will do a formal excursion, but I will have my DH look at them.
I better get to bed, one more work day this week...

Hi Cathy!
Thanks for the "bump".
On our way out to have Mexican food....one reason why we won't be doing any of the "cultural" excursions...get enough of that here!
There are a couple of beach escapes that look okay. Just set me on the beach and I am a happy person. One of them we will definitely just do on our own, it's right by the pier.
I think that's Stone Island in Mazatlan.

Off we go...I'm hungry!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!

Stace, have you been on the thread by MazatlanFrank (I think that's his user name) to ask him about Stone Island? He's a tour operator there and might be able to make a couple of suggestions for you.

I'm looking at the Folklore excursion (I think it's on Mazatlan) since I think DD wil really like that one. It may be the only way to get her off the ship. Besides you go see the cliff divers on that one too and I know she will like to see them, me too.

I need to read more closely... I didn't see that they had the Cliff Divers in Mazatlan...I would love to see them at night, though, with the torches.

It looks like you can walk just a little ways up the dock from the ship and get on a water taxi/ferry to Stone Island. And it doesn't look so big that you couldn't walk from one side to the other and find a beach. Do you have a link to the site? MazatlanFrank?

I am soooo bad. I was dinking around online today, had looked at this one camera site a long time ago.....and finally decided to break down and buy a DVD Camcorder. I had thought that since the kids aren't little anymore, I wouldn't use one as much. But now with Jordan dancing, Jared in sports....and since these record straight to DVD....I couldn't resist. There go all my spa appointments!:earseek:

Recording memories is important. You will have it for weddings and grandchildren too. I bought a camcorder 3 yrs ago and I have yet to read all it can do. I can do basic recording but it can do so much more. I am already behind the times though as it goes to those little tapes that you can play on the TV screen not DVD.

Cathy

Hi everyone, lots been going on at my house so I haven't done much posting this week. Been reading though. I agree that camcorders are a great investment. Ours isn't DVD either but it is digital so quality is real good. Haven't really used it a lot but I do know the basics. Although we took it on our last cruise I don't think we even used it! It's easy to forget it in the room when you have a nice and small digital camera that is eary to carry anywhere. My digital camers does do short "movie" recording as well as still pictures but length depends on how much you have on the memory stick already. I am not real good at all of this technology stuff, I just give it to DS to figure out!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Good Morning!
My sister in law has a camera that takes small movies too, she took some of Jordan's show that I had to miss. It worked well for that little bit, but not anywhere near the quality that I was getting on my other camcorder...which sounds like yours, Cathy. It uses the little tapes. But I'd like to have the DVD's to take to my moms and all. Her tv's are so old, they don't have any plugs to hook up a camera. Now I need to take all of the VHS movies that I made from my little tapes and have them put onto disk...so I guess I was thinking that with this new one, I won't have to do that anymore.
And you're right, there will be grandchildren someday.
I think I'll give my other camcorder to Megan and Pete.
Oh well, have to head for Target and the seamstress.....
Have a great day!

Oops, we were slipping down the page :rolleyes1

Stacey just told me a little bit ago that DCL is now allowing jeans in the dining rooms, with Palo being the exception. I'm sorry, but would it kill some people to dress nicely for a few days out of their life?!? :sad2: DH and I wear jeans all the time, but we don't mind dressing a bit nicer on the cruise. I think that is making the dress code a bit too casual. JMHO

I totally agree.....and now that jeans are okay, what will people do to "bend" the rules?
I wouldn't take jeans to wear...I wear them to work every day, no fun! And besides, they are too heavy to pack! LOL

The good news is that DCL is "upgrading" all of their linens. Bigger towels...more like a bath sheet, nicer sheets and pillows......

Besides, who wants to wear jeans in the middle of the summer with the heat and humidity of the Mexican :sunny: ?!? :earseek:

Where do you find out all this kind of info?!? :cool1:
I love the idea of bigger towels  . I only use bath sheets at home and miss them when we are on vacation.

I am a veritable fountain of information......and I have a secret person on the "inside".;)

There is absolutely no where to dress up anymore... Even work it is supposed to be Business Casual, but my office is extremely casual. We can only wear jeans on Fridays, but people wear pretty tacky, baggy (the younger guys) pants that seem worse than a nice pair of jeans. The only time we ever dress up is for a wedding or funeral. :confused3

My "ticker" is not right, if there are 5 months (exactly from today), then why is my sun less than 4 months away from its pot of gold? Why is it 4 mos. 4 weeks and not 5 months? I do not like it.

My DD just found out that a girl in her 8th grade class may have committed suicide this weekend. I pray that it is not true, that it is some sort of horrible rumor. Another mother called though and she heard from another parent so it is not just the kids. Someone said the advisors are calling parents but no one has called here yet... :sad2: :worried:

OMG....I don't understand it. Jordan and I talk about suicide alot. (that didn't sound right) Anyway, I have told her all the things there are to look forward to in life, beyond the 8th grade. If that's true...that poor girl....I wonder if she had a mom she could talk to. I guess sometimes that's not enough. I know that sometimes kids think they will only hurt themselves and get attention....something else that I've told the kids about. How do you draw a line between hurting yourself and actually dying? You can't take back "I didn't mean it". Prayers for her family, and the kids at your daughter's school!
