August 6, 2005 Mexican Riviera..Who's In?

I agree with you about the contestants on Survivor. I liked the older guy (Willard?) and was glad they picked him. If you've got time to kill, go to cbs.com and watch the Survivor Live show from today. It was interesting to hear that crazy singing lady share some articulate thoughts about the selection process; she's actually not crazy at all, which amazed me.

I think everyone on this thread has said that they have late dinner seating, right? If anyone has an early seating and wouldn't mind sitting with a few strangers, could you let me know? I read on another thread someone had success getting an earlier seating by linking their meal reservations with someone who already was confirmed on an early seating. Thanks.

Carl

A party sounds good, the 25th is a big anniversary! :cake: We celebrate our 16th in September too.

I thought Survivor was good, everyone is attractive except a few token characters. Glad Angie didn't get voted off first thing. Is this the first time a team won and lost the prize? Maybe they'll get it off the bottom of the ocean yet.

Cathy

Carl, we still have some time, hopefully someone will show up for early dining. Remember what I said, too.....a LOT of people cancel before final payment is due. You have an excellent chance of getting early dining. And, if all else fails, you can go see the head waiter on the first night and plead your case with him. Disney wants everyone to be happy.
Survivor: I know I'm getting old when the older contestants start looking good to me. I think the firefighter is nice looking, and I'm glad "Willard"(?) stayed on, also. I think the crazy lady would have been a hoot...too bad they dumped her so soon.
I would think that they would try to get that trunk off the bottom of the ocean. But it's harder than it looks to go down that far. The kids and I were trying to get a sand dollar off the bottom in St John, and going down (and it didn't seem very far) really hurt our ears. Jared managed to grab it, but he grabbed so fast that it broke. Jordan was pretty ticked. Huh, I hadn't even remembered that until just now.

Well, off to take a chug of Nyquil and go to bed.

Don't worry, Carl...the closer it gets, someone will cancel, and if you call often, you'll get early dining!

Another rainy day, and no chance of getting across the creek. That's okay for now, I have plenty to keep me busy....but by Monday it will be a different story!

Vickie.....my TA just e-mailed me. She has asked her friends at DCL several times about weddings and vow renewals, and the last time she asked they said they still didn't know. She's going to go a little higher up, and ask. She said (which she had told me before too) that it is at the Captain's discretion. I had been thinking of it in terms of the amount of money that DCL could be making....but if they can't talk the Capt into doing it...then I guess it's out of their hands. We have both agreed that there could at least be vow renewals. They only allow 45 mins for each of them and the Capt is only there for about 15-20 mins of that. How tough would that be? Oh well.
Like I said...we will just have to throw you a party!!

:wave2: Hello everyone. I really want to be totally well again and have my family well too. DH found out the other day he has double pneumonia. He's been out of work all week and it out until at least Tuesday when he goes back to the doc. It's been a very bad year for respitory infections and pneumonia. I'm seriously thinking of getting the pheumonia shot next winter, my parent's got it this winter.

Carl, are you on the waiting list for early seating? Just keep calling, you should be able to get early seating before we sail.

Vickie you will have a 25th anniversary celebration that you will remember  . Is your anniversary the week we sail? If it is, that's even more of a reason to have a party.

Sorry guys, I'm not ...gasp... a Survivor watcher. I've never gotten into watching any of them.

Stacey, have you started singing "Rain, rain go away" yet :umbrella: ?!? Do you think that would help?

As a matter of fact, I did try singing that....and for right now anyway, it has stopped.
That doesn't make much difference for the creek...but at least the sun is out. Sort of.

Next year, I am definitely getting a flu shot and the pneumonia shot. I always used to get a flu shot, but for the last 2 years I haven't because it was too close to a vacation time.....the shots can make you a little sick, and I didn't want to chance it. ha. Not next year. Had a pneumonia shot several years ago, and it's now time for another. They last a few years.

My niece had to take her new baby to the hospital on Monday. She came home yesterday. The baby had RSV. This is a horrible year for that respiratory stuff! They are doing well today, just got off the phone with her. Pretty scary to watch them haul your 4 week old off for a spinal tap. And I almost wish I had been there for support. Yet another reason for the whole family to move to Florida! Much nicer weather.

No our anniversary is not the week we sail. We used it as our reason to justify rebooking, said we would be celebrating our 25th anniversary in October and wouldn't it be great to celebrate it on a cruise. I think we just may use it as an excuse to celebrate for a whole year! What else can I come up with to do? I think a party on board would be great!

My kids have been sick all week too. High fevers, sore throats and coughs. So far we're okay. Loading up on the Vit C and echinecea though. And we've been singing "Rain Rain go away" here too! :umbrella: I'm ready for some :sunny: weather!!!!

Well, Vickie, as soon as your rain stops, then I know ours will, too! :sunny:

When in October is your anniversary? Jay and I were married on Oct 8.
And then again on December 19.......;)

Vickie 2 months is close enough for me to be celebrating your anniversary. I also think that 25 years deserves a lot of celebrating, especially these days. My b'day is Sept. 7 and I'm going to celebrate it on board. At least this time I won't be getting off the ship on my b'day. Nothing worse than getting kicked off a ship on your b'day and then having to drive home and DH getting a ticket to boot. In fact I think we may celebrate our 17th and DD's b'day on board too - they are both in May. Cakes are gonna be baking for us, and I don't want the 'standard one', I got spoiled with my special one last cruise.

The rain :umbrella: is sounding better than the 3-6 inches of snow :cold: we are supposed to get Sunday night into Monday. Good thing school is closed for the holiday.

We were married on October 18th.
The rain stopped for a minute this afternoon, the sun came out for about 30 seconds then it started raining again :sad1: I heard it is supposed to stop Monday night, in time to go back to work for the week.
Vickie

And we are getting your Monday rain on Tuesday! It isn't a bad thing, like Barb said...as long as there isn't school anyway.....but Tuesday, school's back, and I have a hair appointment!! Now THAT'S important!

Took a nap this afternoon and I'm feeling a little more human. I hate when I can't breathe. Stupid cold.
It's hard to imagine that Jay spent his whole life not being able to breathe, until he had surgery on his nose and sinuses a year or so ago......

HEY! An unexpected T.O.P.!! Cool :cool1:

Now you know we have a couple of newbies on this thread, we better explain T.O.P. That means Top Of Page. Some of us enjoy getting a T.O.P., we have so little going on in our lives that it gives us something to look forward to :rotfl2:  :love2: .

Our 16th anniversary is Sept. 30th and Jessica graduates 8th grade in June - we can celebrate those on board. Jess has been sick this week with a cold and asthma - she had to go on Prednisone. She got an email from Alexa and is going to email her back.

We are expecting the same storm as Jilljill, they are saying 4 to 8 inches. I have Monday off for President's Day but DH has to go to work. I am going to stay in and watch movies.

Cathy

Cathy, thanks for letting me know. Alexa has been at my parent's this weekend. I will have to ask her about it, I'm surprised she didn't tell me she emailed her.

The snow is coming down hard and it seems to be mixed with sleet now. They have lowered the accumulations to 1-3 inches :cold: . That's better, but I would rather have :sunny: .

At least you guys can still get out and drive in the snow.

We of course, are flooded in again. Or is that still???

We have all snow here, 4 inches so far - they did say the bulk of it has fallen already, it will continue until 5pm but not constant in all areas. The flooding does sound worse, I hope it doesn't get into areas like houses. My house growing up always got water in the basement. My brother lives there now and he has done things to help it (some sort of trench was dug and now he has a sump pump (sp?)). :confused3

Cathy

Our house is high enough up from the creek that we won't get any water. A few years ago, the government wanted to build horse trails and tried to get all of the houses that border the creek (ours included) declared in the "flood plain"...but of course, we aren't and it failed. We're still waiting to see how long it will be before they come back with that one again.

Our business has a secret basement. Most houses and buildings here do not have basements. The ground is very hard, and the water doesn't soak into the ground, so basements (what few there are) tend to flood. And yes, ours is full of water right now. Jay has had the sump pump running for a week...almost constantly. The "trap door" to the basement is in my office. I hate when he has to leave that door open. I'm so clumsy, I just now I'm going to fall down there one of these days.

Staying home again today. The kids didn't have school, and as much as I would like to see if there is a world out there, it's safer to just stay home. And I probably couldn't get across anyway.

Guess I could go get something done, though.

Well I woke up to blue sky and sun! :sunny: Of course it was just a tease because the sun is already gone and the blue is mostly dark clouds and even though I was inside in my pj's is was nice to see it for 30 minutes or so! I saw on the news last night that we are now expecting rain off and on all week with it (maybe) clearing for next weekend. But you know those long range forecasts, they change daily. Still I would rather have rain than snow, sorry Cathy and Barb. And Stacey I don't live anywhere that floods but my front and back lawns are starting to look real bad. They are a muddy, mushy mess. Well at least my kids are well and so far we still haven't gotten it!
Vickie

The forecast just said rain all week AND into the weekend. Maybe it's time to move to a hotel........:worried:

Or maybe......there's an empty room on a cruise ship somewhere!::yes::
