August 6, 2005 Mexican Riviera..Who's In?

We are so happy to have a 4th for our cruise date!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc For us it will be my DH and my DD will be 13 next summer. This will be our 2nd DCL on the Magic, and first trip to Disneyland. I look forward to the 3 Mexican ports and seeing a different ocean and all.

Glad you are okay JillJill after being in Florida during Hurricane Charley. My sister always seems to be at WDW during storms and was there during 9/11/01.

Welcome again Schultz family and keep checking for us, we try to keep the thread on the first page, but keep looking if you don't see it.

Cathy

Thanks for the welcomes! Jilljill glad you made it home safe! We flew out the evening before it hit and you could just feel the tension of everyone at the airport. In fact we had mechanical problems on the plane. No fresh water on the plane, but they made the decision to fly us out anyway when they couldn't fix it. It meant bottled water in the bathroom for handwashing and no coffee, toilets still flushed. Plan was if there were any problems to land somewhere and get another plane but they just wanted to get people out of Florida! It also made us miss our connecting flight in Salt Lake City which was ok with us, we have friends there and spent the night with them!
Looking foreward to Mexico but are there hurricanes there?

I don't know if they have hurricanes or not. But I'm sure it will be very hot or rain since we are going there. Stacey can attest to the rain that I attract, but we still had fun.
Fortunately we were able to make all our changes by phone so we didn't have to go near the airport. I'm sure it was a zoo there. If we left out of Orlando we would have had to wait until Monday or Tuesday.
Hope you had fun on the cruise, can't wait to go again.

Just a quick "Hi" to get us back up to the top.

I'm going to do a search, and see what the typical weather patterns are for the Mexican coast during the times that we are sailing. I'll let you know what I find.

Stacey

Okay...here's what I found out....
The west coast, or the Eastern Pacific coast as scientists refer to it, does have a "hurricane season" from August to November.
But, hurricanes are rare...more typical are tropical storms.
On a ship is one of the best places to be during a storm, as they can navigate around them.
The last hurricane on the west coast, wasn't really even a hurricane...El Nino...in '99

My opinion: We are sailing early August (so therefore, I prefer to believe that it is not yet "officially" storm season) and I know that we can expect high temps ....90's to 100's...and humidity, although nowhere near like it is in Florida and the Caribbean, cooler evenings.....and yes, if jilljill and I are there, it most likely will rain!

Thank you 'meteorologist Stacey' for enlightening us on the weather patterns on the Mexican west coast. You are a wealth of knowledge at times - other times, full of 'fluff' :teeth:  .

Careful, jilljill....these people don't know what "Fluff" is yet!

They'll say.."Full of WHAT? " :earseek:

Fluff is simple nonsense....or talking to oneself on here just to keep the thread going.
I tend to do a lot of that!

Let's see.....we could always talk about all the cute bartenders at the Rose and Crown Pub. Now you see why we go there so much. It's bad when you kind of get ot know them over the course of their contract - that means I go there too much :earseek: .

Do you think that we should show Vickie how excited we get when one of us gets a T.O.P.?!?

:Pinkbounc T.O.P. for jilljill!!:bounce:

Good job! I go to watch the Olympics, and you steal it!

Has anyone done any looking into the ports we are going to?
I have a couple of books, and have glanced at it, but with the other trips, I haven't had a chance to really study it.

I usually don't do the Disney excursions, but we might this time, since I have no idea which ones will be worth it or not. It's much easier to decide when we've had feedback from other cruisers.

I can't even remember which ports we are visiting and you are looking into excursions. A better person than I, or maybe just a better planner. We haven't done any excursions on any of the 4 cruises we have taken. We just like to walk around town for a bit and then relax on the ship. I believe that one of the stops is Puerto Vallarta, we spent a week there a few years ago, but I couldn't tell you what we did. What I remember most is my dad sitiing under a palm tree and getting sun poisoning on his head. Reminder: sunscreen and a hat are a must :sunny: .

Our house is officially for sale, we signed the sales agreement today. Not sure when the sign will go outside, but open house will be a week from Sunday. We still have a lot of work to do, but I think we can get it done  :earseek: .

Thanks for checking in to the weather Stacey! We don't normally do the excursions either, but we will have to check the trip reports of the June and July cruisers. Maybe we should go into some of their threads before they cruise and request things for their trip reports?

Cathy

By the time they get back, it will be getting pretty close to, if not too late for, booking any excursions we may want to do. Maybe as it gets closer, we can look at their threads, see what they're doing, and just copy them! Let them do all the work......or is that cheating???
I'll look around, and see what I can find out.
At least we might be able to piece together a general idea of what sounds fun.
We can't seem to keep ourselves out of the water. I guess that comes from living in the desert!

Good night all!!

Yippee on listing the house jilljill!!! Open house, yuck.

Found us at the bottom of the list...bumping us up.

Yeah, let's spy on their threads to see what they are doing and talking about. I want to read the Trip reports for the Panama Canal cruises. That would have been great but the first was during school and the last one was right as school goes back with Freshman orientation and all. I didn't want DD to have to miss anything with her friends. In 5 yrs. we can pretty much go when we want to once she goes to college.

Cathy

Same for us, Cathy......stupid school. But you're right, in a few more years, we will be FREE!!!! And old.:(

I finally found a place to post pictures that will let you share them. If anyone is interested, you can click on here and see a few pictures from the DIS Meet in WDW. The fellow with the green hair is going on our Christmas cruise. The chubby gal is me.
There's a picture of our "Dormer" room at the Grand Floridian, and one of myself and the green hair guy (GaRry) at the Wilderness Lodge, and Walt, Mickey & the castle.

Now you will all know what I look like. Let's see what YOU look like.....get some pics posted!

WHAT .....no pictures of me from WDW?!? Now I'm hurt  . Come on, I don't want you to be the only chubby gal in the pictures. Remember it's not that you are a chubby gal, it's that you are a Pooh-sized gal :teeth: . :love2:
