August 6, 2005 Mexican Riviera..Who's In?

Eve I worked Pedi injection in the late 90's so I can relate to the RSV and Rotovirus. I worked there when both Synagis and the Rotovirus vaccine (the one that was then stopped) came out. I certainly don't miss the winters and kindergarten shot time!!!! We would average 500 + injections a day during those times ( with 3 or 4 of us working) needless to say it was a very busy clinic and I don't miss it at all!!!!

It's so cool to have something in common! I hear you about those injections. We actually give our own vaccines (the docs do) after the nurses draw them up. We have 4 docs and 4 nurses but some days it seems like 20 docs and the same number of nurses would still struggle with getting done. I'm sure you know exactly what I mean.

Does anyone know about the dolphin encounter being offered? Good? Bad? It seems so SHORT to me and I'm not sure if it would be worth the expense although I know Amina and Rhys would be thrilled to do it. I wouldn't be able to just be a "watcher", though. The kids would be scared without one of us in the water with them.....

Jenny - thanks for the welcome. I think I'm going to just fit right in here but I am shocked that there aren't a few more families joining in. Is Jilljill out of town?
Hi Eve and welcome to the cruise. Yes, I am at WDW right now :cool1: :cheer2: :bounce: :mickeybar :mickeybar .
We've had a great time down here even tho it is extremely crowded, much more so than last Easter. But at least we aren't home  .

Stacey, gonna miss ya on the cruise

I think I better get to bed, too much :drinking1 and :mickeybar today.

Night all, will 'talk' more when we get home this weekend :wave2:

Thanks for the welcome Jilljill. Hope you're having a fabulous time. I'm green with envy (eat a :mickeybar for me) but at least I have the day off work tomorrow..... TTFN!

Hi guys! Welcome!

Things are gearing up here and I am soooo bummed. :sad1:
I plan on popping in and chatting....and I definitely want EVERY detail of the trip.

I was thinking maybe lunch at the Rainforest Cafe on Saturday, when everyone gets off the ship.....what do you all think? Maybe noon or 1:00? I can make a reservation when I get there, or one of you who will be at Disneyland before the cruise could make one.....

I still can't believe I had to cancel. Just when I was getting the shore excursions figured out....and the flights. Good thing I booked with Southwest....just changed the tix to the next weekend.

Guess I should get something done around here. Took Jordan to the dentist yesterday, and Jared this morning. No cavaties! Yea!!

TTFN
Stacey

Thanks for the welcome Stacey. I'm bummed too after reading and getting to "know" you. Unfortunately, we'll be leaving on that Saturday when we dock - I think our flight leaves the airport around 1 or 2 pm. :(

Hey you deserve the T.O.P. - hope it cheered you up.....:cheer2:

Well......I'm almost sold on the REAS idea. Been doing some more reading and checking with DH. It sure has it's advantages. For the half dozen or so cruises that we've done together, we've never actually gotten a massage on board before. I like the idea of getting onboard and relaxing instead of fighting the masses to make ressies. Yup, I just need to keep talking and I'll eventually talk myself into it....lol!:rotfl:

I've read the Passporter guide to DCL twice now. Anyone done the character autographs through guest services before? Sounds like a great idea to me for a going away souvenir. I'm hoping to get to the Disney Store in the city this weekend (1.5 hours away:( ) to get some Disney Dollars - we use them as incentives for the kids to collect and then spend on vacation. Maybe I can pick up something for the character sigs too.

Hope everyone had a great day - I'm pooped from my day off! It's always packed full of things to do that I've put off all week IYKWIM.;)

Hi everyone. Well I had my one day trip to Las Vegas yesterday. It was fun and a big surprise to my cousin (who is just like a brother) who lives there. Did get to see the strip after dark and walk through one casino, which was beautiful and we went to dinner at the Harley Davidson Cafe which his kids got a big kick out of. Got to the airport a short 30 minutes before my flight home. Luckily I had already checked in and printed my boarding pass at his house and no one was in line at security so I made it with time to spare! Got home at midnight.
Today is my birthday and the kids last day of spring break. I just plan on hanging out with the kids during the day because our contractor is due anytime to tape and texture the walls he just replaced in Sara's room. Then tonight we're going to RuthChris Steakhouse for my birthday dinner. And tomorrow I am having a massage and facial at the spa in San Francisco I went to in January.
Have a great day everyone!!!

Hope you're having a great day! Have a gigantic juicy steak and one of those humungous stalks of broccoli or baked potatoes that they have at that restaurant for me. I swear you can just eat the side dishes and be perfectly full. The spa sounds like a great idea - wish we had some really swanky ones around here but, alas, I'm just going to have to make my REAS ressie to get my massage.;)

Eve: Welcome to the thread! I have read the threads since I started early on, but I wish I could remember where photos and certain things are. I only took notes as far as names and kid's ages, etc. I didn't remember that Vickie is a nurse. Your photos were so nice, the kids are beautiful and you and your DH look so nice all dressed up. I don't know how to post photos or anything like that... My DD13 could probably help me if I ask her. ;)

Vickie: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! :bday: Hope you had a great day.

Stacey: I too am sad that you won't be on our cruise  , but I totally understand your dilemma. I am glad for you that it is settled so you can relax again. Jessica will be disappointed not to have Jordan there, but I reminded her that Brynee is also a teen. She also has Alexa and Sara when they aren't in the Clubs.

Barb: How was WDW this time? Hope you had good weather and all.

I will be at DL before the cruise (Thurs to Sat.) but we also leave to the airport right from port for our long flight to CT. I am taking two full weeks off, but I need more time before to shop and pack and all. I have to go back to work on 8/15.

I was out of town this week, we had to drive to Syracuse, NY which is upstate, almost to Buffalo and near Lake Ontario. It was about a 5 hour drive for us. My husband's uncle had passed away. It was nice to see the cousins and their children. My DH's birthday was 3/30 while we were there, but he is getting a "do over" for today.

It is raining here today and we expect 5 inches!! They say if it were snow it would be 50 inches. We already have flooding from Monday's storms.

Cathy

Vickie - A belated Happy Birthday to you! Hope you enjoyed your night out! Brynee's birthday is Tuesday: "Sweet 16 :lovestruc " So, we have dinner plans and her BF will be coming with us! They get along quite well - he is into choir and sports just as she is so they have a lot in common, though he isn't a big Disney fan :sad2: which doesn't go over well with her! She'll have a bigger party in a couple of weeks when all of her 'group' can make it.

We finally have a break in the rainy/cold weather and it is in the 70's today. DH and Brynee played their doubles tennis match while I walked laps around the park :) I definitely need to get in shape before the cruise :earboy2: Do you think it's true that if you always take the stairs you won't gain too much??

Have a great weekend everyone!

That's my plan and I'm sticking to it. Although I do like to take the elevators once in a while to see the wall murals. I like the stairs, they are easy to use and can be much quicker depending where you need to get to on the ship.

A very happy belated birthday to all celebrating this past week :bday: :cake: :drinking1 :mickeybar .

We had a great trip to 'the world' even tho it was very crowded. The weather was weird; hot, rainy and muggy on the front and back end of the trip and perfect in the middle of the week. We were sad to leave, but we already have ressies for next year and I have been known to sneak in an extra trip or 2 before the next planned one.
We came home to massive amounts of rain and it's still coming down. I want :sunny: not :umbrella: .

Stacey, you better keep in touch on this thread; you started it, now you gotta help keep it going ::yes:: :sad1: . Just don't sneak in and take all the T.O.P.'s pirate: :rotfl: .

:cake: :bday: :cake: Happy Birthday Vickie! Sorry I missed it! What a great way to celebrate!!

AND.....Happy Birthday to Brynee.....Sweet Sixteen!

Jordan wants to have a Sweet Sixteen party next year....already trying to figure out where to have it....besides my house!!!

I intend to stick around and drive y'all crazy!!

I intend to stick aound and drive y'all crazy!![/QUOTE]

I'm glad you plan on sticking around and driving us crazy Stacey!

Thanks for all of the birthday wishes! I had a great week, celebrated every day! Then I just had a great birthday present, I went to Weight Watchers and actually lost weight!!! Only 0.3 lb but a loss is a loss!!! So that just goes to show we can enjoy our cruise and not gain too much. We did the stairs last cruise not even thinking about the exercise, the wait was just too long for the elevators.
Have a great day everyone! I have all of my neglected chores to do!
Vickie

Vickie, congrats on the weight loss. Every little bit adds up in the end.

Stacey you can have DD's 'Sweet 16' at WDW and invite all the  internet people. Wouldn't that be something?!? I can see you telling your mom that one :sad2: :earboy2: :earseek: . Or you can always have it at the Town Dump, a story to tell for years  .
You could rent out the dance studio and have some kind of a theme party - now I'm sure that will get you thinking.

Yeah, I could ALMOST get away with having her party at the Town Dump!
WDW sounds good.....or maybe a cruise in May of '06??? Oh wait, already doing that....
The dance studio.....hmmm.....:scratchin

How do you think THIS would go over with all the parents:
Take a group of girls to a huge suite in Las Vegas ......:confused3 Somehow, I don't see THAT happening !!
