August 6, 2005 Mexican Riviera..Who's In?

I've heard it is pretty humid also. Thats the part that gets me, the humidity. Thank goodness for air conditioning!
Vickie

I hate humidity too, my hair is thick and humidity makes it frizz. Of course the dry air in the winter here makes it staticy. You can't win. I wear mine back a lot (at least part of it) because it just lumps into my face, there is too much of it. I keep it fairly long because my husband likes it.

BIG BUMP!!

jilljill.....Sssshhhhh......I must do all the preliminary work on the cruise before reporting to the boss my findings....better to have it all planned out and just inform him. In other words, I'm too chicken to tell him. Valentine's gift..that's what it's going to be.

Who was it that is going to San Diego soon? I had said that I would think of the restaurant and nice area that we went to......we ate at Anthony's on the Pier. Really good food!

Bed time..........
Happy Monday!

Major bump :sunny:

Went back to the doctor's today and I still have the pneumonia lurking in me. So it was off the get a chest x-ray and back on antibiotics for 10 more days.
It's been nice weather and it's melting the dirty, brown snow. That's why I don't like it to snow, it only looks nice for a couple of days then it's brown and disgusting until it's gone.

How funny Cathy, we both had the same thought

Well...there are 5 inches of fresh pretty fluffy white stuff on the ground right now. It is pretty from inside, but tomorrow I have to drive in it! AAACCKKK!!:crazy2:

I am supposed to have lunch at my favorite restaurant with my brother. Wish my Dad was going too, then he could drive....but we aren't leaving Mom home alone.
I'll have to decide just how badly I want OUT....and how much I want to eat at my fav place......versus driving in that stuff. Guess I'll decide tomorrow.

Otherwise, all is well....beside the fact that I am getting stir crazy.....
I have gotten a lot done around here for them, and most of my scrapbook done, so it's not all bad. I just miss home.
4 1/2 days......I hate leaving Mom, but I must admit that I am counting!
TTFN,
Stacey

Ha! I got a T.O.P. for whining again!!

If it is like here, the roads are okay pretty quick after the storm. We have tons of plows that sand and salt. The Interstates and State routes are good very fast, and the sideroads usually by 12 hours later are okay. My town is very good at plowing.

Jilljill - That is funny that we were on within 2 minutes of each other to find us on page 2 (we are there again right now too).

I wrote a long reply...pushed the wrong button, and it all disappeared.

So...having no energy left to re-write it, I'll just say BUMP!

I am soooo ready to go home!! 46 Hours.

You'll, have to post the 'cliff notes' version when you get a chance :teeth: .
Good luck getting home with all the :umbrella: out your way.

Stacey, have a safe trip home. Glad Mom is doing well.

It's been a stressful week here, a lot going on. New semester at school, Kenney doesn't like his english teacher, my hours at work have changed slightly, just enough to rush the morning routine, things going on in a friend of Kenney's life that are affecting his mood, enough to give me a gaint headache! Why don't we take a cruise and get away from it all? Oh yeah I forgot for a minute, we're already doing that! Just have to wait a little while longer for it!
Hope everyone has a good weekend. I hope to have a stress free one! Could use one of those massages!

"Cliff Notes" will be coming after I get Mom into bed.
Now I have even MORE to write.
The major news is that while I will be going back to Arizona, I will not be getting to my house! We are flooded out of our house right now, probably until Tuesday. If we're lucky enough to get in then. Chance you take when you live on the wrong side of a creek, I guess. The good news is that Jay and the kids are together and staying with friends. The pits is when one or more of us are home, and others are stuck out.
Gotta run for now,
Stacey

Stacey, I saw flooding in Arizona on the news today, maybe they showed your house! I hope it all dissipates soon, you wouldn't think of lots of water in Arizona since it is dessert (at least the way us New Englanders think of it). Glad your Mom is doing well. A firiend of mine lives on a river in Massachusetts and it floods often. She has a paddle boat that she uses to get to her house and she has hip boots.

Another topic:
My sister who is going on the 4/16/05 Magic told me yesterday that her husband decided not to go (he isn't into Disney, both times he went to WDW the parks closed and he thinks he is bad luck... one was 9/11 and then Hurricane Floyd). Their DS is almost 3 yrs. old and not totally potty trained so he was afraid the clubs wouldn't take him. My sister is going with a friend and her DD11. My sister's DD is 11 too so it will be fun for them. My thing is, why didn't she ask me and my DD13 to go? I would have come up with the money... I guess it is better for the two DD11's because they will have each other.

My DD13 is still not wanting to go in August, I tell her it will work out. At least if she goes to the Teen club with Jordan and Brynee at first, she may meet someone closer to her age there. I think she is worried they won't want her because she is younger (going into 9th grade in Sept.). I am sure they could talk about TV shows and music. Maybe we can get them emailing each other and she'll feel better. Let me know if either of them have email and we can PM addrs. Maybe if they initiate it. Do either of them use AOL Instant Messenger? She likes to go to TV forums on shows like The O.C and One Tree Hill. :)

Hi Cathy....and everyone!

Please tell your daughter not to worry. Jordan "let" Jared go to the club with her at Christmas, and he was only 11.
My two (and jilljill's) are VERY good at making friends no matter what the age. She will have a ball.
Neither of my kids are online much at all, but Jordan does have IM with AOL, so when we finally get home, I'll see what we can do to get them chatting.
Jared didn't go into the Oceaneers Club at all, I don't think. He went to movies, to the game room, and to the teen club. And they swam. She will do just fine.

jilljill told me she saw footage of a creek rescue on the Weather Channel. That was just upstream from our crossing, and at the actual border of my property. So if you saw a helicopter rescue, that was right at my house!

The creek rushes like a roaring river when it's like this.....the only way we would be able to cross it would be with a cruise ship. The lady who was lifted out had her Rover wash down the creek.

Gotta run...more to do before I leave for the airport.

I know that, I just wish she did! Thanks for helping, it came up again last night with my sister so that is why it is on my mind again... If your DD isn't online much, email might be better because they won't have to be online at the same time. If they let your DS go to the club, maybe Jilljill's DD11 will be more involved with them too. She just needs to get to know them. Last time she only came to dinner with us a few nights, but I will make sure she comes the first night (or to the Cruise meet).

My sister never got on the thread for her cruise, I guess not everyone has as much time as we do. My sister has a 12 hour day with her train commute to work so at night she doesn't get online much.

Thanks again, I feel better now!

Cathy, DD has been using the computer more and more lately. I'll PM you her email and IM name and maybe she and your DD can get to know each other a bit. Maybe that will help her out for now.
It was funny, she just asked me this morning if they are going to have hair braiding on the ship again. I hadn't thought about it and she hasn't forgotten it.

Thank you Jilljill! I sent you my DD's email. My DD is on a lot since we got a wireless router for Christmas to set up a network so she has the internet in her room now. I do monitor what she is doing and she is very good about being safe. She only IM's friends, no chat rooms. She does go on the TV forums but uses only a screen name. She did tell me that she pretends to be 17 on one because the other girls are older, but she keeps up with conversion because it is about the shows and star's personal lives. She has learned to make photo banners and is learning to program some HTML, she is an administrator or monitor on one board too.

At least she is in her school play now so that takes the afternoon up and she has to do homework in the evening. She has less time during the week for that stuff. ::yes::

Hi everyone,

I haven't posted on this thread in awhile because I've been doing research on the other DCL forums, which I have to admit has been a confusing experience, and I'd certainly appreciate anyone's insights:

1. Crowds. I assume that our ship is going to be full or nearly full; what I can't understand is that some posts suggest that you can't even tell when the ship is crowded, while others have described horrific lines, being unable to book space with Flounders, etc. I don't understand how people can have completely opposing experiences in a similar situation.

2. Late seating. Unfortunately, since we booked relatively late, only late seating was available. I've also read some distressing posts about how a late seating with young kids has virtually ruined the cruise for their parents. On the hopeful sign, it seems that people who have been unsuccessful in this situation have not complained loudly or been proactive in pushing for, as an example, room service from the restaurants instead of the limited, regular menu. Anticipating this part of the trip makes me kind of anxious.

3. Food. After reading numerous reports about inedible pizza, institutional-style food in the dining rooms, etc., and having had a pretty mediocre meal at Ariel's Grotto at Disneyland this past weekend, I'm also getting a little scared about a week of eating Disneyland-quality meals.

Thanks in advance for anyone's comments.

Hi Newfamilyman,
When we cruised in August I didn't feel overwhelmed by crowds. On our sea day the pools were pretty full but we had no problem getting a table and chairs. Didn't try for a lounge chair as we were wanting to stay out of the sun. Our sail-away party was moved inside due to rain and it was pretty crowded so we didn't stay real long, instead we went out in the rain to watch us leave port. As far as Flounders our kids are older so we had no experience there.

We had late seating by choice because cruising out of Florida and coming from California that was what time our bodies wanted dinner. We choose late seating again this time but again our kids are older (15 and 11). I don't remember your kids ages but you can always try a late afternoon nap.

As far as the food goes, we did not have a bad meal on our 4 day cruise. Did not equal some of the better resturants we've been to but certainly not bad. Don't remember anyone having the pizza but that seems to be one of the big complaints lately. Did have hamburgers from Pluto's and they were good. Palo was fantastic. And if you don't like something you can always order something else.

We certainly would not have spent the money to go on another cruise if we had not thoroughly enjoyed the first one. In fact the only complaint I had about our cruise was it was too short. Fixed that by doing a 7 night this time.
